USWNT 1-0 England to take the 2018 #SheBelieves Cup! Way to go!

I think men coaching women's sports is actually really common. I had to look up who you were talking about, though
Hey, I'm just happy to see a W here. Last year they ended up in last place. And there are some really exciting young players coming up for the next generation of stars (Pugh runs so hard!) What can I say, my fandom is pretty uncritical.

Coach Pops continues to be such an inspiring voice and model of leadership in sports. Such class!
-
Ah, I see. I guess I don't follow the NBA nearly close enough to be aware of anything other than Pop's commentary on broader social issues.
Are private role models any better than public role models? I think all that's needed is some realism when it comes to models. They aren't unimpeachable, but there are specific things about them that we can find very admirable. Sometimes they themselves don't live up to the stands they set. Such is human, and we (may) change our views on them accordingly.
Something I really appreciate about Pop is how effectively he can reach such a broad spectrum of people. It's his unique position as a powerful figure in sports. He (and Steve Kerr) can say the same things that, say, if it were some young minority journalist penning an op-ed for HuffPo they might be reflexively attacked as some kind of SJW.
Pop's position commands respect from those same people, and he's using it to provide really valuable leadership. He shows that you can be someone in his shoes and "get it", in what appears to be a thorough and heartfelt way.

Have any of you allowed yourselves to entertain the idea of Nebraska winning the B1G Tourney?

Bring back the funny Chris Rock! This new, skinny, botoxed, hateful man is not a funny man.

Are pop tarts ravioli? Why or why not?

So my work Net Nanny blocked Huskerboard today. The reason is because "website has swimsuit/lingerie content".

Well I can now confirm that sugar withdrawal is a real thing.......been really changing my diet lately and I've had two major withdrawals in the past three days. Severe headaches, nausea, weakness, shaking, etc. Pretty scary what sugar can do to you!

I’m really trying with this Olympics but it’s pretty blah.
-
The flag thing sounds kind of dumb. I haven't followed the response but it seems like a microcosm of our poorly ordered priorities that a flag mishap fans attention and this dark splotch on his past is so freely brushed aside -- or worse, framed as an incident of bad press which he suffered and which now, as a triumphant Olympic athlete, he is overcoming.

So many emotions as a Vikings fan right now. Extreme joy. Shock. Awe. What an incredible play and ending.

Vikes desperately need someone to perform the Heimlich maneuver.

Walmart is raising their base wage to $11/hour and offering paid parental leave. Almost zero large American employers offer this kind of leave. Hopefully other employers follow suit and this becomes the norm in America - we're the only major industrialized nation that doesn't offer this. American employers seem to punish families for having children. I always thought it was super weird.
-
Oh, man, I just saw what @StPaulHusker said. Yikes. Thanks to @RunMickeyRun02 as well.
So IMO, even if that weren't true, we shouldn't leave this to the caprice of corporations like Walmart. There are ways to guard against it. Laws, policy, public social services and investments. Organized labor. We have the ability to use these instruments. We need the will.

If I made you a Santa Hat avatar and you want your old avatar back, I may still have it.

I'm enjoying the masterful trolling by UCF this week. All the SEC folks I work with are super mad about it.

UCF is 12th in the AP and 10th in the Coaches Poll??? Unbelievable!! http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21942367/college-football-playoff-executive-director-bill-hancock-stands-committee-decision-rank-ucf-no-12

Yeah, I just feel like they got penalized enough by missing out on the playoffs. Then they played a pretty legit team on New Year's. SEC. Beat both MNC finalists, right? Supposedly they were going to get creamed, finally. And they didn't just show they belonged, they beat Auburn. #2 is the only fitting consolation I think. It doesn't actually mean anything. If other teams feel like they deserved it more maybe they should have avoided losing games. If we all want this to be more clear in the future than don't have a 4 team playoff.

Such good editing of this New Hope clip with Obi-Wan:

Woah! Is this the first ever early signing day? Grats to the newest Huskers!

I think the big, exploitative business of CFB can survive somehow even if recruits get more power and choice and don't essentially have to sign binding contracts earlier and earlier.
But recruits don't have the power. And so they will have to work with the hand they're dealt, until that changes. If it changes.

Got busy this fall and haven't been around much. Did I miss anything?
