I've no desire to censor these viewpoints. It's a worthy conversation to be having and banning people won't reduce the number who share your views. It should be debated.

I first knew the pre-seasoning had worn off when I noticed a tinge of rust on my pan. After that I never let it get to that stage because I oil it after every use. Takes 5 seconds.

Like Polo, I use my pan for searing. Cast iron is dense so it keeps its heat better than standard pans, even clad or thick-bottomed pans, when you're searing meat. You can't put that initial sear on if your pan loses temp immediately. And you can take that pan straight from the burner to the oven...

It's literally impossible for me to sympathize at all with the Dems or Repubs anymore. It's literally the same sh#t coming from both sides, depending on whose God Emperor is in the White House. I will be astonished if I don't vote 3rd party for the rest of my life. Opposing the 2 party is something I can genuinely get behind.

And you can save all the insults that are hurled towards 3rd party voters, I've heard them all.

Now, we've had non-policy guys be head of state before (*coughs, "W"*). And nobody is an expert in everything. "I'll just listen to my expert advisors and use my trustworthy judgment" is certainly an oft-used argument.

I mean, for example, I'd like a head coach who really knows football. We've seen arguments from time to time that he doesn't necessarily have to (Joe Moglia) if he has a good team, but all things equal, I'd rather have both.

It shouldn't take any fantastical villianizing to see why Hillary isn't fit for the office but whatever. It's pretty apparent you would never indulge the GOP. Let's be honest, if the GOP had a stellar candidate with no character flaws, you would still vote for Hillary. You either don't see it or don't want to. I can accept voting for HC to keep DT out but the constant rationalizations that she is an acceptable candidate for potus makes me incredulously sad. Anyway I...

We'll agree to disagree, but I think these armchair character appraisals tend to be rather silly. In Trump's case it's merited, but his is a fairly extraordinary case.

In most cases I'm all for withering criticism and opposition, but would have to refrain from character speculation. Even for 'W.

Not really, changing your mind is a part of life and one day you might love/support one thing/stance but you might very well change the next day. Take the parents that had kids at Columbine High School...some were probably all about guns and avid hunters...until that horrible day. Then they probably changed their gun stance (some, not all). It is not so much WHY you believe it is a lot of times WHEN you believe it. Changing your mind/stance doesn't make you weak and people should not...

He left the Jets, not the other way around! And the Jets are a mess right now. I think Rex's seat (and their OC) is getting pretty warm and that is a big factor in why he left.

Look, few of us know much about how an OL works or how Callahan works with OLs -- so reputation, from a wide variety of places, is what I'm basing my opinion on. Your dislike of Callahan seems to be what you are basing yours on ;)

    3. zoogs

      zoogs

Yeah, he will need good players, too, and I have no idea if you guys have that or not. So no guarantee that he will turn the play of the line around. I just think that you should feel solid about who you have coaching whoever those guys are, as opposed to some other schmoe they could have gotten.

    4. The Dude

      The Dude

A big part of the reason the Jets are a mess is because their offensive line was abysmal after Callahan had his hands on it for a few years. Some story wherever he goes, really. If you don't want to fault him fine, but it's the truth.

I was perfectly content with him lending his hand in wrecking the Jets. I'd rather have some random schmoe than a guy who is almost certainly going to fail, like history dictates.

So when we see something wrong, unjust, or otherwise unethical we shouldn't speak about it until it actually hurts people?

You can do whatever you like but no, I do not think that we should do anything above speaking on it because "it" isn't much of a thing.

What is unjust or unethical? Nothing has been done.

Conservative and patriotic Poles have marched and joined together in revelry on Independence Day for decades now. These marches have always had a right leaning tilt and this year some Nazis showed up and hijacked it not unlike how anarchists will often hijack left-leaning protests.  Painting this as some kind of "~60,0000 Nazi March" is disingenuous and false.

What do you want? These people to stop celebrating because Nazis are around? You want them to assault the Nazis? You want the police to arrest or segregate the Nazis? Those options all sound quite Nazi-ish and would be unjust, wrong, and unethical. In a democracy you have to hear people you disagree with, even when those people have some really outlandish and offensive things to say. You beat them through discourse, not violence or silence so if anything seeing people from a broad spectrum of beliefs duking it out relatively peacefully in Poland is a good thing.

Of course the policies these people want are bad. I don't like them, they wouldn't be good but they'll never become a thing because there are very very few of these people - in the hundreds within Poland itself with maybe a few thousand associates and they're mostly dumb eastern kids trying to be edgy.

Media in the West and in Russia has a vested interest in smearing Poland and PiS with this Nazi label. The West wants Poland to back off of its anti-refugee stance and Russia wants to paint any Nationalist group (which are almost always anti-Russia) in a former SSR as Fascist as they have done in Ukraine. It's the same brush with which they paint all rebel groups as ISIS or Al-Qaeda in Syria, it's easier for them to sell what they're doing in those countries if they're crusading against the obvious bad guys.
