  1. No we don't want/need him. Our class is filled we already told Witt he's the man from this class. We are in for a number of big names next year. There is no reason to try to get Simms. I think he will head back to Louisville when the dust clears.
  2. Nothing on BJax. The Bowman thing is beginning to look more and more like a rumor that had no merit. I believe he (ZB) is staying.
  3. rumor going around is that he renegged and signed. That would be pretty lame.
  4. No we don't have a shot at him. It reminds me of the Bo Williams situation. It was nice that he visited here (bo) but he was never really considering it. Now with the departure of Blake look for Devine to go back to a Florida school. I predict he will be there for 2 years then declare for the draft. For our system to work it seems like we need kids longer than 2 years.
  5. He was committed to Miami then for about 3 days committed to Tenne$$ee and that wasn't made public by Perry. I think his sister mentioned that.
  6. That is the world we live in guywithstuffforaname. Money drives everything. If you think/thought/hope that it doesn't then you must have been frozen in the '50's and just now thawed out. Right or wrong that is the name of the game. The game is capitalism and if your not playing you get left in the dust. Don't be fooled and think college is somehow special and is a sacred institution blah blah. How long should he be given for a coach to succeed? You have to give a guy 5 years, end of story. That coach needs to have his 5th year seniors in place before you can say one way or another. If the golden domers had given Willingham his 5 years they would have saved a lot of money and still have been doing as well as ol' "front butt" is (I got that name from someone here that is hilarious). If you fire a coach before 5 years that would be because they have operating their system who they would have picked up if they were the head coach at the time (use in the case of an assistant being promoted and he recruited a lot of the original guys). BC has the program moving in the right direction. If you look at his first 3 years he has improved each year in the win column (I know he hasn't matched a 10-3 season but it wasn't BC's fault Frank the tank was fired. It wasn't like he came to SP and said fire this guy 'cause I can do better.). Another sign that it is moving in the right direction is the money that is coming in. More now than in Frank the tank's day. And remember it is all about the almighty dollar whether you like it or not.
  7. Our problem right now isn't total number of schollies. The problem is we can only take 25 in this class. Currently we have 31. We have 4 that count against last year (the JuCo's). Gives us 27. We have a grayshirt to give to Crick. Now we have 26 against this class. So can we give out two more grayshirts? Well will Fabian pay for his cousins way for a year? He has the money. Will Ahman pay for his nephew for in state tuition for a year? He has the money but he didn't do it for Tierre to my knowlege. Will the Kicker take a grayshirt? Those are the three candidates for grayshirts imo (aside from Crick's). If two of those three happen then we can take one more. I am all for taking Jason Peters. At this point I think everyone else has missed out including Amie (Fleener has already publicly said he wants to go to stanford and is awaiting admissions). Come on Jason Peters!
  8. I think he was plan B to Burkes
  9. I don't know why there is so much talk of KW leaving. 1. He came to the school knowing our RB situation. It's not like they just sprung Lucky and Glenn on him. 2. He had a bad case of knee-itis or some such thing that prevented him from playing at 100% If you think you should be starting when you are not doing as well as the next guy then you have a screw loose. In any case he is two to play one so if he transfers he will be a senior redshirt somewhere (essestially sitting out two seasons since juco) and has the next year to do well. How many transfers in the history of the world have actually worked out? I'll give you Tayler but that was due to a new coach. Daily Dukes Goodman Beck <-- jury is still out on this one but they have a stud soph for a qb and a new coach. Rocky Hinds I can't think of a bunch of transfers right now, my head hurts. The point is if you can't do well where you are you're probably not going to do well where you're going.
  10. I don't think anyone gave credit to the coaching staff for his numbers. Sure it was Tayler on the field but he was getting the calls from the sidelines. How is it when he throws interceptions and incompletions it is all Billy C's fault but when he puts up impressive numbers it is because he is a great qb? I don't get it.
  11. Fleener is a cardinal. Cross him off your list. He is only waiting on admissions to make it official.
  12. The team might have been declared healthy but we all know that is BS. Glenn was not going to see any time with his foot in that bad of shape. Kenny Wilson has knees that might be on par with Jason White's. Octo still isn't 100% Lucky was about 90% Slauson is hobbled. Also Terrance Nunn came down with a raging case of stone hands. Lucky has been tentative all year long BJax has hit holes and created them when he needed. I hope BJax comes back next year. Obviously we need depth at RB. First day pick doesn't mean 3rd or 4th round.
  13. I got it the first time. You know when Ron Prince did it at his goal line he was a genious.
  14. You'll have to "blame" that one on Coach. For all the schelacking he is taking over his play calling you gotta love that he has an average QB that is able to produce these numbers. First and foremost he was the only option we had all season at QB so he had to call the games to keep him healthy. We ended the year with a healthy QB. Did Texas? No and that is what happens if you take for granted that your QB will never get hurt. BJax is the better back. You guys who think Lucky is better are STILL stuck on stars. Lucky doesn't have that explosion that BJax has. He also isn't very elusive. I'll take Bjax over Lucky any day. Next year with two viable QB's at the helm I think you will see BC open it up a little. On a side note: All fire BC sentiment is complete garbage. Even if you are a pro Solich guy and he got screwed etc etc if you fire a coach who doesn't have his fifth year seniors in to run the system you are retarded and it would be difficult to get a new coach here (see Bama). BC's break out year has to come by the end of 2008. Even then you will have to ask yourself what is an acceptable finish? If your answer is NC then you are beyond help. There can only be one of those each year and we have a great shot at it in 2008 but I am not going to say fire BC if we don't win it in the next two season. Remember we are Nebraska getting UF, UT, USC, tOSU, UM etc... talent in here to run with the big boys does not happen over night and we don't have great home turf talent. Every time you feel like talking crap about our current situation do what I do... drink heavily and find someone's wife to keep you company.
  15. He is solid to NU. He has committed early and has not wavered. His only visit is for Lincoln. This guy bleeds Husker red.
  16. Since he is family it would be OK. It isn't much different than Makovica paying his own way (obviously someone is helping him out). I would hope that if they do ask Washington to grayshirt it would have been the idea of Fabian in the first place (which I doubt that would happen). This guy was recruited by some big time places and should get his scholarship if he wants it. If we have to force people to grayshirt we shouldn't take their commitment in the first place, unless they knew they would have to grayshirt. I am not a fan of just springing this on someone for the betterment of the team.
  17. I wasn't real high on this guy but we are hurting at Safety. We have Asante and Washington as far as recruits. Contrast that with 4 CB's (ross, murillo, blue, sullivan) we are taking this year. I think somewhere Blue is listed as a safety but he is not that big. To make matters worse we don't have very many safeties to begin with. Green, Wilson, Culburt and some that won't see much playing time (Brothers, Eisenhart, Watson). We have Bowman, Grixby, Jones and some extra guys (ford, young and maybe west?) as far as corners go (but we are bringing in 4 recruits here). The bright side to this is Helu is a possible move to safety and Thenarse may come back to Safety. If that happens I like our secondary a lot better. Remember our major problem in the backfield wasn't with our corners it was three db's trying to cover for 4 (Shanle's job was to be an extra referee on the field to make sure they got the spot right. Every once in a while he got in someones way and got a tackle on the stats sheet for it). So basically the point is we need safeties too not just corners.
  18. Actually one of the reasons we are not high on his list is he has said he wants to be a corner in college. When we were recruiting him we told him we want him for wr and he said no thanks. I think we are trying to recruit him as an athlete (Leon Jax situation) but am not sure if he has been promised defense which is why he probably won't be N. If we tell him corner for sure and he doesn't wait long we have a good shot at him but the longer he waits the lower our chances are. Of course we have Anthony Blue in his ear about how great we are so you can't count him out yet.
  19. But the "moment" he had in practice could have come during IaSt, Kansas or anyone else then it might have lost us the game and momentum. Thenarse has probably been giving 100% all year (any disagreements?) and with all that effort all year he not only got spanked this week in practice he got blown up, got schooled, he looked silly against the 1's and he acknowledged it. Are you telling me that playing him earlier in the year he would have gotten that much better? If he did get that much better from a little more playing time (maybe costing us some w's) then did he get out of practice everything that he possibly could? His "moment" this week has pretty much proved that you aren't going to come in here and take positions away from experienced players that are decent unless you are outstanding (by outstanding I mean a 6 star). We have two 5 stars, Bowman and Jones, a 4 star (Grixby), and some are saying that a 4 star JuCo with no D1A experience is going to trump our starters? Puleeese.
  20. That was the one guy that I wasn't 100% on if he was a dec grad so I may be talking out of my butt on him. But if he is a dec grad he should have signed already.
  21. With Green being able to play only one position next year (as opposed to always having to cover for Shanle) he should be very solid. Then with Culbert and Asante stepping up into ss we should be looking pretty good.
  22. Yes that is true. You can only sign your letter early if you are an early grad. That is why Townsend has not signed yet. So the four JuCo signees yesterday plus Witt and Mendoza. We have 6 new faces in January.
  23. lol You are saying that Grixby is doing a better job than Jones. You are funnier than Dane Cook on weed. Are you trying to tell me that all 58 of his tackles are on receivers he "let" catch the ball. If I were a Jim Rome listener I'd tell you how I just spit out coffee through my nose all over my keyboard and now my computer doesn't work and my wife just left me.... since Rome is a retard and I am not a listener I will just say you are a funny man. Just because he "lost" his blackshirt does not mean he sucks. As I said before it is purely (academically) motivational. He'll have his blackshirt and he will shut the Tigers down. Do you really think a JuCo is going to take away a years worth of experience? Or maybe you think Thenarse is the man? <- this is more plausible however you will see before the game that Jones beat him out by a longshot.
  24. Looking at the posts it was probably going to be Jenkins. He said something about don't forget about... Well we forgot about him a long time ago so why would that be posted? Jenkins was going to come here but he got scared of competition so now is looking at other options. He may still end up here but is now delaying his announcement. Obviously this puts him almost 100% out of Nebraska's 2007 class as they are filling it quick. Look for Burkes to commit and if we can keep the class we will be done. I know a lot of you want to have some commits in January but if we keep what we have we don't need/want anymore. With Burkes we would have a class that even grandmama would be proud of.
