  1. no one has mentioned this guy's name. he is the linebackers coach at usc, and I would say that he does a damn fine job. should we offer him his first DC position? thoughts...
  2. javorio burkes played well in his first start. that shows promise for the future of the o-line!
  3. i would like to see them run a spread...like oregons
  4. so with pelini as HC....and either watson, or rathman, or whoever as OC, what kind of offense will they run next year?? good news GBR!
  5. we should bring in bo pelini and give him the job he should of had after solich was fired!
  6. if a switch to the 3-4 is made, or at least used i could imagine that guys like barry turner de/rush olb, pierre allen de/rush olb, and stienkuler dt/de, among others would see different positions on the filed. i see this "experiment" with the 3-4 as a great thing, it helps bring more packages to the defense in order to get more of the best players on the field at once. think about it...potter, suh, stienkuler/turner on the line.....ruud/turner, mckeon, brandenberg/culbert, octavien/allen at the linebacker positions, and grixby/jones, bowman/murrillo, asante/thenarse, and green/wilson in the defensive backfield. hell throw asante in at the linebacker position in the 3-4 for speed too. i think that it would be a great addition to the defense, allowing for more of the best players, and also giving them all more versatility not only helping on the injury front, but helping them for futures in the nfl...
  7. Oh sorry about all the spelling and grammer errors I didn't get to read over it before I posted it...forgive me.
  8. I was at the Buffs spring practice today, taking photographs for a magazine in Denver that I freelance for. Just a couple things to say about what I saw. Cody Hawkins was getting most of the reps with the first time while last years started Bernard Jackson is working out with the recievers. As for the recievers, the couldn't catch anything, I'm pretty sure they dropped more than they caught. Some had to do with poor throws but some were just drops. I couldn't tell the DL from the LB's, so I am going to say that they have a small DL. Ryan Miller their 5* recruit was there but not practicing, still in High School I guess, he is huge, and I bet he starts from day one. The TE's were big and tall, they looked good. And the RB's were small, short in my opinion, but most people are to me since i'm 6'2" Not much else to report I will be going to there spring game to shoot again, so I will keep you updated. Also I will post the pics from their practice and some from the last NU vs CU basketball game on my website if you are interested in viewing them. Probably not for a couple days but soon...www.sals.smugmug.com GO HUSKERS
  9. There is nothing wrong with 8 man football...just look at the top DE in the draft this year, Gaines Adams was an 8 man football stud.... As for the secondary, i thought i was right about jones and bowman, lets just hope that murrillo takes this opportunity and runs with it....and with asante and thenarse playing SS and Green FS (where he should have been last year) our corners will look a lot better.
  10. I can't remember back to last year if Jones came at semester and participated in the spring drills and game, or if he came in the fall? Or Bowman the year before for that matter. I am wondering because it too both of them a little bit during the season to catch on, but since Murillo is there now for the spring, summer, and fall, does that help him, and allow that learning curve that Jones/Bowman did or didn't have? Thanks.
  11. I agree that Culbert will be at WLB in 08, and look for Thenarse and Asante to be the 2 safties in 08 as well with Thenarse at FS and Asante at SS...just a guess and a wish.
  12. What are everyone's thought on what the depth chart will look like this fall for the O-Line. With the article today about the Nicks and Murtha swith it has got me wondering, will there be more switching? LT: Nicks/??Haines maybe I hope not LG: Christenson/Huff C: Byford/Christenson RG: Slauson/Hickman RT: Murtha/Jones or Williams??
  13. what do you think about helu? will he stay at RB or move to LB? and culbert there has been talk on either this thread or another one that he might be moved to a hybrid LB...i would like that move. and i want todd peterson to move to TE, just as a deep threat pass catching TE...
  14. I am curious to see where you all think that the new recruits will wind up playing, what positions? Also and we draw near to srping practice what current huskers might have a new position that will be unvailed during spring practice? Discuss away...
  15. Just curious when those start up? Thanks.
  16. One big thing that we are looking for with this recruiting class is a big play TE. We have McNeil who the coaches aparently are high on, which is awesome that we have a RS freshman TE that will most likely make a big impact next year. But what if we moved Todd Peterson to TE? We are set fairly well at WR and I would doubt that he gets as much playing time next year as he did this year. He is only 10 to 20 pounds lighter than our other TE's, and can run faster and catch better? Why not give it a try and see what comes of it. Play him where he would mainly run routes and not have to block etc....Heck his rating jumps dramatically in ncaa 2007 when you make the move, and we all know that video games depict the truth 100% Maybe try him as a hybrid WR/TE? What are your thoughts.
  17. I'd say not only is it possible but highly likely...Other than Green I would imagine and we would see new starters...Bowman and either Thenarse/Murrillo at corner, and Asante at the other saftey spot with Culbert playing a hybrid linebacker/safey position. Any way you look at it, it's all good, great recuruting class, Callahan is gettin the ball rolling.
  18. I say Burkes, Amie, and Asante...losing DeAndre West leaves the door wide open for Asante, and I read somewhere that Amie tried his hardest not to commit although he very much wanted to...and Burkes is just a baller...good class so far.
  19. Is it for sure that he is a solid verbal? I don't have access to rivals to read what it says for sure? Anyone in the know please clear it up and let in be 100% known for sure. Thanks.
  20. Why is it everytime we win a football game we are praising everything about the coaches, and players. But when we lose everyone says how much the coaches suck, and how the players are not good enough, or too slow. Why can't you just admit that some teams out of the other 118 in the country are just better than us? Is that to much to ask? Are the husker fans, that most teams in the country admire, really just a bunch a bandwagon cry babies? I'd like to think not. So stop whining about how bad you think the coaches/players did, and talk about how BJ had a hell of a game, and how we all hope that Austin is ok, and how Taylor played pretty ok for being on his butt the whole game. Show some pride. GBR
  21. I'll blame both coach and the players. After we got up 17-0 and 24-7, coach kept throwing the ball, what happened to the run? why didn't we close out the half with 10 straight runs? Coach calling all those pass plays on 1st and 2nd downs that didnt convert allowed to clock to stop, and not run. And as many of you say, the players just didn't execute after they got up so big. If we are running the WCO offense then lets run in, if coach wants to establish the run then keep running, then do what you say damn....none of the games have really had a consistent play calling scheme.
  22. This was posted on huskerpedia.com by 'huskerband.' read this and weep KU fans "In the first four games Kansas has outgained their opponent by only 206 yards, 1459 to 1253. Not such a shocking stat, but consider this: in the Toledo game, which they lost, they actually outgained Toledo. In their three wins they have only outgained their opponent 1068 to 1016. This includes a game against the University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks (1-2 team from the Sun Belt) in which they were outgained 428 to 351. Kansas won that game by two points. ULM missed an extra point and failed on a 2-pt. conversion try. By contrast, Nebraska 6th in the nation in total offense with 472.5 ypg, and 21st in the nation in total defense allowing 257.75 per game. USC outgained us 399 to 211. The closest anyone else has gotten is La Tech at 584 to 305, still a 279 yard difference. In the last four games, Kansas has committed 11 turnovers. That includes 7 interceptions and 4 lost fumbles. Thier defense has only created 5 turnovers (2 Int and 3 Fumbles). That leaves them with a -6 turnover margin. In contrast, Nebraska is at +4 with 9 takeaways (2 Int, 7 Fumble) while only losing 5 (3 Int, 2 Fumbles). Kansas has outscored thier opponents by 38 (114 to 76). To be fair, they have outscored their opponents by 44 in regulation (taking off Toledo's 6 in OT). Nebraska has outscored their opponents by 126 (157 to 45). NU's offense has scored 43 more points, while allowing 25 fewer. If you remove the two losses, the competetion for both teams stack up almost equal. Troy and ULM are both decent teams as far as the SUn belt goes. Nicholls St. and Northwestern St. are both D-1AA teams with losing records. La Tach and South Florida are both mid-major teams that have been bowl-eligible and upset a few teams in recent years. If you add USC and Toledo back in, NU has faced a tougher schedule and still raked up far superior statistics. Also, NU's stats are softened due to pulling starters and eating clock later in the game. Joe Ganz entered last week's game with about 10:00 left in the 3rd. From that point on, NU only threw the ball 6 times. Fan-bias aside, Kansas is far outmatched. They face the prospect of playing freshman QB that is not 100% or their back-up. The game is in Lincoln. All these things will be reflected in the score. Not only will Nebraska win, but they will win big, easily covering the current spread of 21 pts."
  23. I am pretty positive that it's mono, my source is close with Kurt and the fam. Doens't sound good.
  24. I know some one that is close to Kurt, and they say that he has mono, and that it is not for certain if he will play again this season?! That would be a big loose to the O line. GBR
