  1. I really hate to be the one who asks this...But what if they cancel the whole season? Most flu type strains would invariably die off when the weather got warmer, but it sounds like this one isn't affected as much by temperature.. I didn't really take this very seriously until the NBA put their season on hold.
  2. Interesting discussion: clears up some of my initial misconceptions. Sounds like this won't go away when the weather gets warmer like most strains of flu . He is Regents Professor, McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Public Health, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, a professor in the Technological Leadership Institute, College of Science and Engineering, and an adjunct professor in the Medical School, all at the University of Minnesota. 3. This was probably my weekly reminder that WE were global: And my own dad being a B-29 bomber pilot in the rotation for dropping the Atom Bomb in WWll Which he never mentioned to me. (which I guess technically was actually before my lifetime). But JFK getting assassinated was my first memory @ 3 years old
  4. While trying to find out why Fox thinks the Cincinnati Bengals are Rutgers main Rival, I stumbled on Urban Meyers take on rivalries. when he stressed the importance of success in rivalry games to a group of recruits at a camp … with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh standing a few feet away. To me, for us. that will probably always be Oklahoma. Maybe it's a generational thing, much like liking the music you grew up with much more than what's considered ''Pop'' now. But the ''Game of the Century'' in '71 was my introduction to college football. And the following decades with Tom having to deal with ''Sooner Magic'' and having my heart ripped out while dreaming of eventually playing for DONU for the next 7-8 seasons, and folks wearing T'shirts stating that our 2nd favourite team was whoever was playing Oklahoma...I never felt that with Colorado or Iowa... Maybe Miami.
  5. I think I know where you're going with this..
  6. I even wonder if he retires from playing and takes a job in the Vikings front office...Watching some of those hits he took almost made my CTE flair up. Either way, I hope the best for him.
  7. I thought the clinical trial testing the drug for the coronavirus was going to be at the Medical Center in Omaha.. https://www.ketv.com/article/clinical-trials-for-first-drug-to-treat-coronavirus-begin-at-university-of-nebraska-medical-center-covid/31099043
  8. Haven't seen (or heard?) that commercial yet, but now that you mention it...I've never had sexy time in Omaha.
  9. I wonder how long that will take..for a change in Defensive priority.. At least he seems to be better than Callihan at letting the Defense have more than just a token amount of recruits.
  10. Sometimes I think DONU has been in a perfect storm while Devaney and Osborne were our coaches. With our very limited population base and even the windy weather during half the season and what should've been, limited funds. It still amazes me how we did as well as we did. We were once one of the few teams televised in the country, which really helped us in recruiting. We could stockpile players, sometimes recruiting players just to keep them off our opponents' teams. Being the pioneer in nutrition and weight training... and PEDs helped keep us playin' over our heads for a decade or three. Tuition was cheap enough that we could have walk-ons double as tackling dummies. Exceptional assistant coaches that continued to learn on the job and quickly gained the reputation of getting the most out of each player...which also aided in our recruiting. Osborne's memory and attention to detail still baffles me..He'd notice if a player lined up a few inches from where he was supposed to...He even remembered meeting me for a couple of minutes as a freshman, and then again 3 years later ...and asked about.''Millie and Jim'' who were parents of my cousin that played for him from '79 to '82. He had an intense desire to win but also the ability to eventually put winning in perspective. I think Scott can get us in the top 10 within 6 years, but I'm starting to veer away from thinking ''if he can't do it, nobody can''. And until he eventually starts prioritizing the Defensive side..We'll probably never sniff a 4 team playoff.
  11. Seeing it mentioned online in other places now. I guess Favre had pretty large hands, yet fumbled 166 times...
  12. I dunno...My 10'' mits helped me never drop a pass...In warmups anyway...Never understood why my coaches never let me play receiver in games (Ha). I get your point, but anytime I see a RB with fumbling problems...I immediately think ''small hands''. Surprised our guys at the combine this year seem to have ''smallish'' hands.
  13. Anyone know how they actually measure ''hands''? I always thought it was the greatest distance between tip of thumb to tip of little finger. But surprised to read Joe Burrow's only being 9''. Also not seeing hand sizes for Running Backs. I would think that would be important in predicting propensity to fumble or catch the football. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/nfl-combine-2020-tracker-measurements-results-of-the-best-individual-performances-from-indianapolis/ https://www.miamidolphins.com/news/2020-nfl-combine-quarterback-measurements-quotes Jake Fromm on his small hands
  14. Shoulda known someone else already tried this..
  15. Maybe the best at what we were doing last season..But I still think 2AM is going to be our best going forward.. Wasn't he Freshman or Offensive B10 player of the week 4 or 5 times his Freshman year? You should watch our games you missed on youtube during this horrid offseason.
  16. Usually, I like to think I'm way too smart to use absolutes like ''everyone'' but if I can use it to help make a joke, I ''sometimes'' can't resist putting it in there. Either way, I sure hope we never get to the point where MANY of the loudest fans make decisions about starting lineups. Not every fan I come into contact with in the real world would be what someone would consider ''the smartest'' or ''bestest'' football fans like Husker fans are s'posed to be, but I doubt many of the ones I'm close to, or related to would seriously think Luke is anything more than QB3 based on what we've seen so far.. I'm not saying he can't improve in a short time, and he does appear to give quite a few team mates a lift both times he came in. But I also think he and his family know enough about football and commitment to be patient. Luke's 6'5'' older brother is more experienced and still might have trouble starting over some newer kid at Mechicken. ..
  17. I like all 3 of these guys. After watching the video of our swing/screen passes shared in another thread...and above: 1) Looked like 2AM threw about half of his swing passes behind the receivers or their trailing foots. 2) Luke completed maybe two nice screens just behind our OTs..Which is an easier throw than the swing pass to the sidelines. 3) Vedral appeared to hit ~80% in stride and in the #s. on his 40 or so swing passes. Adrian seems to be able to make throws that I haven't seen a Husker QB make since Sam Keller (when he was here at ASU). He also seemed to throw picks when the line gave him too much time...Which really concerns me. Vedral seemed to be our best option ...at running and swing passes..And at chasing down an opposing lineman returning his shovel pass. Luke looks very raw....Maybe due to running on too much adrenaline in the short amount of plays he's been in...I expect he'll show the most improvement this next season. They all seem to have similar speed, but Adrian tended to hesitate last season..Hopefully that will improve with further healing. I guess a lot depends on what sort of plays we plan to run and maybe opponent's tendencies...Seems like more teams are playing more than just one QB in games lately...I'd almost like to see us play more than one on single plays.
  18. Why did you think Luke was the ''better QB''? He did seem to get better snaps which helped his timing, Completed some wobbly passes and ran with more purpose than 2AM but such a small number of plays...Still think overall. Vedral had the best ''look'' of the 3...And I'm guessing 2AM was hurt more than the coach is letting on.
  19. Bring back the old Player/Coach position? Now that you mention it, I think last year's starting QB (who played ahead of Luke in High school) is recently in the transfer portal.
  20. TBH..I'm a little surprised that the Colorado Buffs haven't offered Ed McCaffrey the HC position yet.
