  1. Only today to vote. Westerkamp catch still trails in the poll. Husker Nation needs a comeback
  2. TSN (Canada's ESPN) has a daily Highlight Challenge and, for 24 hours only, Westerkamp is up against a random hockey highlight. Husker Nation rally and put Jordy up on top. Vote at http://www.tsn.ca/1v1/
  3. Just trying to recoup my costs. If someone wants them, great. I'm capable of selling them in Lincoln as well. You wanna go $250 Canadian, fine. That's $233 USD.
  4. Hey guys, I have two tickets available for sale. They are side by side in Sec. 16B1. We are travelling from Manitoba, Canada early Thursday morning and will have the tickets on our person, can be dropped off or handed off in Lincoln anytime after early Thursday evening. Am asking $250 for the pair and am just trying to recoup my costs that I paid for them. Drop me a PM if interested.
  5. Another reason the Huskers deserve a couple more years of smackdowns. You know how much that game hurt????? Probably as painful as the VT WR getting past your free safety. I was going to go with a Davison reference too, but then thought that'll just be shot down by the "still holding on to that joke" hecklers. But still solid. At the end of the day, just take heart in the fact that "at least when this game is done, I get to leave this bloody state."
  6. Not sure if this is the place to post this, but I really liked what coach Sanders said in the Va Tech post-game, regarding the defensive breakdown on the 81-yarder. "But you know, that was one play and the kid played good all game. I just got to get him coached up a little better." I don't know. This just struck me as a solid move by a coach, acknowledging the mistake but not throwing a kid under the bus and taking some of the heat for himself. At the end of the day coaches talk about their "kids" because, y'know what, they are kids. Just thought it was an interesting quote. As for the topic at hand: We're so anxious to get back to where we were as a dynasty program, that I think sometimes Husker fans need to pull back a bit and be realistic. You don't become a national power — when you think about the dump we were in just three years ago — in one or two years. So let's realize that, sometimes at the absolute best, rebuilding into a power is a five-year plan. We're on the right road and we have the right guys in charge. I firmly believe that. Go Big Red. See you all in Lincoln for the La-Lafayette game.
  7. Hey c'mon guys, I know the NCAA is American and all, but don't forget that Husker Nation also stretches to that area that's usually coloured grey on your weather maps and where they spell words like coloured and grey differently. So let's get a bit of red on that map north of the 49th Parallel. Representing the province of Manitoba here. Straight up from North Dakota is where the moose and bison run free, couches are called chesterfields and the flag is made up of the only two colours that really matter: Red and White. Signed, The unofficial president of the very unofficial Canadians for Nebraska.
  8. Hi folks, Canadians for Nebraska are making our annual trip south and this time we're coming for the LA-L game on Sept. 26. Anyone have any tickets they're willing to part with or have an in-road on some? Also anyone have any thoughts on whether or not that game will be a bit of a tougher ticket being that it's No. 300? Anyone who can help is much appreciated and a Canadians for Nebraska t-shirt awaits you for your assistance (I know, don't go jumping up and down all at once).
  9. We're getting closer to the start of the season, but we're still in enough of the off-season that I figure it's ok to bring up a random question for discussion. In my office for the past few years (dating to 2005), I have created Nebraska schedules on 11x17 sheets and hung them on my wall around my desk, updating the scores on the sheets each week. I'm a bit of a pack rat and like the idea of keeping the collection going from its original. But my walls are getting a bit chock full though (I don't have a huge work area to be honest and Steelers gear is also decorated about). HOWEVER My 2006 schedule has already been covered over by a print off of Henery's celebration photo, a move that came when I got tired of looking at Callahan's mug representing a season that was certainly not a high point. So my question for you Husker fans, searching for your guidance here, do I just ditch the schedules from the years coached by That Other Guy and begin anew starting with 2008, or do I — loyal Big Red fan that I am — say, 'hey, that was part of the history to,' grin and bear it and leave the other schedules (with his pictures on them) on the wall? Basically do I erase the Callahan Era from my wall in the name of creating space and, let's face it, sanity as well? See, I told you this was a pointless topic. Your thoughts, however, are appreciated.
  10. Hey folks... Coming down from Canada for our annual pilgrimmage and am looking to get tickets for the Sept. 13 game against NMSU. Anyone have any they're willing to shed? We'll need up to 8 but understand it'll be darn near impossible to get that many together, so am willing to take whatever is out there.
  11. what are people's gut feelings about the prices of tickets and what they'll be going for around the stadium on game day? husker fan coming a long way to get in with some friends and i WILL get into this game! go big red.
  12. Hey folks, my apologies for barking up the wrong tree if I am but I'm just trying to open some avenues for the USC game, which Canadians for Nebraska will once again be attending. We do a yearly road trip to Lincoln and this year it was a no-brainer which game to pick. If anyone has tickets they can't use or knows of other people who are in that boat, please please please drop me a line. Side note, we've brought on more and more members of CFN each year and every single new member says the roady to Lincoln is among the best things they've ever done and are always glowing in their praise about the people of Lincoln and the state of Nebraska. All the best, David Larkins — Head Honcho, Canadians for Nebraska
  13. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? 24 Years 2) What/who led you to The Nation? My dad who watched the games on TV when I was a kid. 3) Where are you from originally? Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada 4) Where do you live now? Brandon, Manitoba 5) Favorite Husker memory? My first experience at Memorial. Rolled into town at midnight and I immediately went over to the stadium by myself and just walked around in awe. It's now my yearly ritual, the first thing I do when I come to town. 6) Worst Husker memory? Too many. Losses never sit well. 7) Number of home games attended? Three. Four to be this fall. 8) Number of away games attended? 0. I only make a road trip for Lincoln. 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? A Daley jersey I easily modified into what is now a Turner Gill jersey. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.): If not at Memorial, then with the rest of Canadians for Nebraska. 11) Favorite all time player? Dahrain Diedrick, Sandro DeAngelis because they're Canadian Tommie Frazier if we're to be honest. 12) WCO or Option? Option. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Byrne 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? I got love for em both. 15) Favorite Husker play? Tommie runnin in the bowl game against Fl 16) Favorite game-day beverage? If only we could some Canadian beer down there. Otherwise I'll drink that Boulevard stuff you guys got. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) Google.
  14. First off my apologies if it is frowned upon to make ticket requests on here but I am in a bit of a lurch. I, along with 10 friends, are coming down to Lincoln for the Texas game from Canada. The Canadians for Nebraska are making their third trip and are having struggles getting our hands on ducats for that game. We knew full well how tough it was going to be but I'm just trying to bark up another tree to see if anyone can be of help to us. We would be utterly grateful if someone can be of help. If someone can respond to this post or feel free to email me at davidjlarkins@gmail.com Thanks very much!
