  1. If the computer's psychic ability wasn't a half-step below omniscient, I'd play this game a LOT more. I'd join up with Mills on that online dynasty
  2. I'm sure that Taylor still has the speed, Beck needs to establish entire series in the zone read game, to establish the threat of him breaking big runs. It seems like it only gets sprinkled in now. I know it seemed like that was all Nebraska relied on last year, but it was a huge part of the offense. The 'skers have additional playmakers at every skill position along with a competent OC that's skilled in the style, there's no reason to abandon that part of the offense.
  3. I honestly thought this was gonna be the option for recruiting coordinator. It takes a lot of organization to teach golf lessons.
  4. Do you think ol Chucky Fatso's super bowl ring still has the same shine to it considering the ND firing and moving out of other jobs so quickly?
  5. It'd be incredibly awesome for sure but as da skers pointed out, even though there is possibilities for money to be used for a splash hire, two splash hires has to be out of the question.
  6. it's not 100% set on JP yet because they're trying to get a handle on that. But it's still a very high percentage. There are a few things being talked about including moving a coach from offense to defense. That would free up a spot for a QB coach. I was told two dine coach coaches have either been approached or are at least on the short wish list. One is from the Big 10 and a solid coach and recruiter. The other guy is a Nebraska guy. Names don't need to be out just yet. They were still throw a game plan together. Sounds like it might be a day or two but Bo has a plan he wants to follow that will help him decide. A coach from offense to defense? What? Who'd be able to do that?
  7. @daskers If you're positive what's gonna shake out, does in fact shake out, do you know where they're looking for replacements for Papuchis' position?
  8. Wouldn't the "good ol' boy network" also include Kevin Steele? I'm sure he'll get a look.
  9. I wonder where he's gonna go with his hire. Stoops is in the "good ol' boy network" for Pelini, it's not out of the question. Giving Papuchis the title seems rushed to me. I'd rather him go scour the NFL for someone and leave Papuchis as the RC and a co-DC possibly. It just seems like they'd be giving Coach P a little too much to handle if he got promoted.
  10. we blitzed/applied pressure - we caused turnovers. we have 10 interceptions this year. Bullocks had 10 himself in 03'. 32 total for the team. Add in 15 fumbles and we caused 47 turnovers compared to 18 this year. And that is the difference between 03' Pelini and 11' Pelini. Imagine if we caused almost 2.5 more turnovers per game this year. We wouldn't be sitting at 9-3. This is what I'm trying to understand. What was it about '03 that made Pelini's defense a turnover machine versus now and the inability of today's defense.
  11. Thanks for starting this thread. I'm gonna hijack it with a similar tagential question. What are the differences between the schemes of Pelini as DC in '03 to now? Was it 2-gap then? It seemed like the 'skers played more aggressive and attacked more in '03, forcing record amounts of turnovers. Were Ruud, Bullocks, and co. just that good? Did they have a better supporting cast? Or did he use a scheme that Solich wanted him to run and the scheme now is totally his own?
  12. Speaking of coaching changes, how stupid is Arizona picking up DickRod? Leach is out there, they already run the effin air raid. Perfect match.
  13. I'd like captures of the other two or three instances of this play. I'm asking some coaches on another board if they had ever seen this wrinkle and they said that it looked like a broken down play based on a bad read. I'm not so sure because of the other occasions they ran the play.
  14. He's our nationally known super guy, didn't surprise me at all that it happened.
  15. Such as? Natural * The creation of the universe (Including the Big Bang, the 1st law of thermodynamics, etc.) How do you know God did it? * Complexity and intricacy of life, specifically amino acids/proteins and humans (I'm no creationist, but via evolution as a mechanism, I guess this could be a sub-point of the first one) Would a moral and just God create hunger, terminal illness, stillborn deaths? * Moral code God killed millions of people in the bible, including having a bear maul children because they called a man bald. Slavery was also condoned in the bible. * Messianic prophecy Based on faith from a 2000 year old book, that hopefully wasn't fabricated to fit the writer's agenda, fulfilling a well-known prophecy for gain. * The fact that the 3-year ministry and teachings of a 30-something year old nobody carpenter from a hick town who claimed He was God incarnate and went toe-to-toe with the religious leaders of the day and who was shamefully murdered, scorned and rejected, have become the predominant faith-based teaching in the entire world and have had immeasurable impact on the 2000+ years since His life. Just because something is popular, doesn't make it fact. Supernatural * Stirring of the Holy Spirit, a sort of "supernatural guiding" Did you think that it might be your own thoughts guiding you? * Consistent prayer (when done with God's will in mind and not selfish desires) yielding results, consistent with God's supposed nature in the Bible * Believers speaking in tongues God's nature is of your own determination. Your beliefs aren't different from most Christians but they obviously differ. His will is basically yours. Also, praying has statistically shown to be as good as a coin flip. * Visible physical healing (one example would be a woman at camp had her foot smashed, swollen like crazy, black and blue and purple, people started praying and laying hands on her and I saw her foot become healthy) Why doesn't God cure an amputee? * Claims of thousands of people throughout time to have glimpsed heaven, audibly heard the Lord, had after-death experiences subsequent to having been resuscitated, etc. Near-death experiences are shown to be either hallucinating due to drugs or parts of the brain dying, going haywire, etc. Personal experience is also not a great claim of evidence. You wouldn't believe me if I told you I talked to Winston Churchill everyday. You'd need more evidence. * The general quality, freedom and joy found in my life and the lives of so many people I know personally the closer we supposedly feel to our Lord. Just a few examples. I see these things and I see God, you see these things and you see whatever your bias leads you to see. If you live in the desert all your life, and I come to you and tell you of this magical place far away where there is no sand but white snow, freezing temperatures, white bears and frozen water (heck, water in and of itself), of course you won't ever take those claims seriously, because you've never seen any of those things. Similarly, if you live in your own world apart from God, you won't ever find evidence of Him.
  16. I don't know what the OP means by a "true" christian because morality/immorality isn't exclusive to religious people even, let alone christians. A christian is just someone who follows the teachings of christ, which falls into a giant spectrum of dogmas/doctrines/personally found beliefs. It's incredible how many christians there are, and they just never seem to agree. For the person who asked what if you're wrong...you barely agree with the posters who claim the same religious affiliation, and you'd rather believe just in case?
  17. I remember 2003 and Kansas State and Missouri killing us because of Brad Smith and Ell Roberson going nuts
  18. P. Johnson is one ultra-sharp SOB bordering on TO country. Using some of his best schemes is a no lose scenario in my book. I know I'm in a very small minority but I'd like to see Tim use the misdirection plays a little more. The few times he has they've worked great and you just know opponent DCs are having multiple heart attacks every time especially when it's Tmart keeping the ball w/ a fake hand-off & going the opposite direction of everyone else. Holy sh*t, you know they hate that. Lol! Beck has the weapons in spades. Major props to him for using them. GBR!! I remember hearing that beck used flexbone as an offensive coach at the high school level. I'm gonna look at the formations OP was referring to and see if there was a third back at the wing as well as the slot coming around.
  19. Did anybody else notice the 3-4 being run in the first quarter? I was liking it but those holes for the QB to scramble were still there.
  20. Ohio St. has a top 15 defense and our offense went after them told them to shove that ranking up their ass.
  21. I hope the defense can stay this way when we get back to playing mobile quarterbacks. Which it seems like the rest of them do except for PSU (without Bolden) and Iowa.
  22. IMO it doesn't matter how well you play for one quarter. If you implode like we did, that's the headline, that's the whole story. The almost and kinda/sorta and well-maybe-if stuff can be taken to the curb. It just doesn't matter. Well you're not including the whole story also. You might only see the bad but I saw some damn good out of that team. Nebraska was outclassed, maybe, but most of all they shot themselves in the foot again. That's my issue.
  23. That first quarter and a half, this young Husker team was taking it to a fringe title contender. Playing well on offense, decent on defense relative to what we've seen and expected. The game was there to be taken. The coaches were calling plays in order to get kill shots, or at least to set them up. But they have this insane confidence in Martinez's ability to throw the ball. The kid burned them. Can it be fixed? The second interception can, for sure. I know the read on that play and T-Mart didn't even attempt reading it. The others, who knows? It's high time we start putting confidence in the O-Line and the backs. I believe they've earned it.
  24. I'm sorry to say to all the naysayers out there, that there is a good team out there. If we wanted to win this game, Beck should have taken the ball out of Martinez's hands. Simply put. But he didn't. For all the people questioning Bo, in 2008 he almost beat the best team Texas Tech has ever had and he culminated it with a underdog victory in the Gator Bowl. You have to take the good with the bad. There was some damn good promise on that field before shiite hit the fan. They ran into a buzzsaw, crapped their pants, and were torn in half. If you really want to complain, it should be about Beck trusting T-Mart too much, the intangibles and discipline (Camp Randall couldn't have helped at all), and lack of intensity on defense.
