  1. Very much this. After growing up making it to personal, I realized I'm not on the team and have really nothing to lose watching these games.
  2. I think there are routes that are set most of the time, and there are only some plays not all where a WR will cut a different route mid play based on how the defender is playing him (option routes). I think most of the time, the QB will make the determination based on the defender to "hot" the receiver so that the confusion will minimize.
  3. Fluke injuries, like the two Martinez endured, are more likely with a running QB sure but they were very fluke injuries. I'm sure he can stay healthier this season
  4. I'm up for an Xbox Dynasty GT: jcdahlgren23 or just a random ranked/unranked game
  5. I'll decide on a team tomorrow. Should we start a separate thread for Xbox OD? Who's gonna be the commish? Should we decide rules if we're gonna play sim or not care about breaking the AI?
  6. It's been a long time coming, and the table's turned around, cause one of us is going and one of us is going down! I'm not runnin, it's a little different now. Cause one of us is going, and one of us is GOING DOWN!!!!!!!!
  7. The countdown is at 28 minutes and change at the moment, but it's official as of eastern time. bigten.org is showing it already.
  8. What I wanna know is what the hell does "S/O" mean? Whatever it is, it probably would have fit in 140 characters.
  9. Didn't know if anyone saw this yet http://ps3.ign.com/articles/116/1169273p1.html
  10. I think Nebraska should run the Hawaii Run and Shoot Pistol.
  11. When we tried out modern, we ended up at this hideousness: And today's modern... ugh. Let's just not go there. I'd just like to see more of the old. Throwback tributes like the 300 sellout. I wouldn't even call that modern. That's just sticking a giant stripe on the pants. What did that really change? I guess there really is no "in between" traditionalist and modern considering that monstrosity.
  12. If Peyton Hillis is the cover athlete on Madden 12, I will piss my pants in lulz.

  13. inb4 old farts complaining about change +1 to the idea of classic alternates from the 2001 season. I'm all about changing the uniform and I'm also for nostalgia for nostalgia's sake. I'm very much for revamping some ideas but finding common ground between traditionalist and modern. As long as the N on the side of that helmet doesn't change and we don't have purple pants (Clemson!), I'm for it.
  14. I'm gonna make a dad joke here. Nebraska!
  15. The problem lies with the fact that there's no way to legitimately call this foul fairly in every single game. False start penalties are cut and dry - if you move before the ball is snapped, you lose five yards. But with this rule you're asking a referee (who many already argue don't do a very good job in the college game) to distinguish between taunting, celebrating and everything in between. In my opinion, this rule is the most subjective and unfair rule in all of college football. There's no possible way to contain excitement when you take the lead on a big score with less than one minute to play. If I catch a 60-yard pass with 30 seconds left and I'm 10 yards ahead of the safety, you can bet your ass I'm going to throw my arms up and point to the crowd on my way to the end zone. This rule is asking young football players to become robots on the football field and act like pristine cupcakes after - or before - they score a touchdown. Tommie Frazier's 65-yard touchdown run in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl could be called taunting and the score could be reversed. Think about that - one of the most famous plays in all of Husker history could have been ruled ineligible. It's something I just can't stomach. FTFY
  16. This is what I would best classify myself as right now as well. Deconversion stories are always fun. PM me sometime. I'd also like to hear that story. There's an old thread about the morality of faith that's just over a year old where knapplc gets pretty heated with husker_x about religion. I'm interested because I feel my story is so universal, that any person who saw the milestones of introspection and self-awareness that I did, would make the same conclusions.
  17. As someone who works with individuals who have Asperger's Syndrome-No, Taylor doesn't have Asperger's Syndrome. Taylor is a kid. A diamond in the rough. How eloquent are most boys when they're 20 years old and are in the spotlight? He'll get better as he matures. I'm sure he will cringe when he watches this interview say, in 5 years. There will be people who will come along and help him become more polished. I'm more interested in the way he'll play football for us this year. I'm hoping that the rest of the quarterbacks vying for the job will light a bit of a fire beneath him! Could be interesting P.S. If you're interested in what Asperger's Syndrome looks like take a look at Dr. Temple Grandin. Dr Grandin is a famous veterinarian who actually talks about her syndrome. She is a remarkable woman. (Genius! Truly! Many, MANY of the greatest minds of our time had Asperger's Syndrome.) I don't think anybody is going as far as to say he's got Asperger's. He's just more uncomfortable than most in social situations, that's probably the worst of what he must deal with. Not something he can't overcome and it looks to be like he's doing great things to do just that.
  18. Did you even read the original essay? Your original essay doesn't mention any of the similar messianic stories that are basically the same...virgin births, etc. It's a valid statement.
