and he also, by a huge margin, leads the team in errors. he has committed 8 errors already this season with the next closest person on the team has committed 2. His fielding percentage this year is terrible at 0.899! Thankfully, the rest of the team has been fielding at a 0.981 clip. Opponents are fielding at 0.968. In reviewing the fielding stats for Brice i found it interesting that in 2021 (obviously shortened season) he was tied for the "lead" in errors, but only with 6 over the entire season (0.954 fielding %). As a whole the team committed only 36 errors and had a fielding % of 0.979. In 2022, Brice again lead the team in errors (15 total) with again a very low fielding % of 0.921. the next closest player had 9 errors. The team fielding % dropped to 0.969 in 2022. It should be noted that the majority of these 15 errors were committed in the first half of the season and he cleaned it up towards the end. I really like Brice as a player and hopes he turns around his fielding. Giving up easy outs and extending innings by not making routine plays is a recipe for losing close games, not making post-season play, etc. I think Brice will almost certainly get drafted this year, but will help his draft status immensely if he cleaned up his play in the field (i know, obvious statement). old man rant time "DEFENSE TRAVELS" and "DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!"

boy, looks like Sunday league and midweek games will be an adventure for the pitching staff this year.

huh, glad they are getting the games in, but can't remember a situation where they have done this before.

in their last 8 games (4 against New Mexico and 4 against the University of Washington), UNC is 0-8, has given up 116 runs! and scored 18. I get that Anderson will be motivated to have a good showing against his former employer, but Nebraska should win both of these games.

Nice summary video of the game on Youtube. I suppose the view is different when you are actually on the field playing the game, but to look at the field in its entirety from above is very distracting with all the yard lines mixed with the base lines.

no, I never played div 1 baseball in college, only legion baseball through high school. I can imagine fielding balls off a tartan or turf surface is different then grass, but having your veteran middle infielders boot balls out of their gloves on steal attempts that ultimately lead to runs in close games; bringing in relief pitchers like Garza, Sears, and Hawkins that can't stop the bleeding; and consistently and repeatedly not being able to score runs when you have runners in scoring position and no outs are similar things that plagued the team last year. I get that it is early, but it never improved last year. time will tell if it repeats itself. I just have the feeling it will be a repeat of last year.

i don't buy that. these kids play baseball all year round. After the season they play in summer leagues, have fall ball, and then practice for the spring season.

yeah, i am starting to think they only way Nebraska wins this is to get through a couple of innings with our shaky relief pitching and then have Anderson eventually get up and goes yard. not a good strategy, but no one else on this team seems capable of doing anything productive.
