  1. Bueler? Bueler? Can someone give us all an update please?
  2. Haha ya that was pretty disastrous. My point is, we have speed all over the field we just don't use it. Unless your name is Taylor Martinez that is.
  3. I'm almost certain he wants to stay somewhere in-state.
  4. Willie come on! You're gonna come on here and post that and nothing else? You're killin me!
  5. still have to have creative minds to get bell the ball. Right now I'm not so sure we do. Gilleylan, Chris Brooks, Mendoza, Paul, all have great speed and what creative ways has our offensive staff done to get them the ball? Hell we didn't even know how fast Brooks was until his pro day.
  6. So are we thinking we are going to keep tevin mitchell? Are we confident we get someone like Turner? I REALLY think we need two top flight corners in this class.
  7. Oh damn...I have been on here for a while and don't remember that. haha thanks anyway!
  8. How do I do that, never done it before?
  9. The zone read at the end of the half was a decent call bc more than likely they just didn't think we would run the ball with the amount of time that was left. 2nd Half: 1st Play-zone read, four yard loss 2nd Play-slant, 15 yard gain-first down 3rd play-zone read, no gain 4th play-zone read, 1 yard loss 5th play-drop back pocket pass, fumble OU ball 6th play-zone read, 1 yard loss 7th play-slant, 6 yard gain 8th play-drop back pass, incomplete-punt 9th play-drop back pass, T Mart fumbles recovers his own 10th play-zone read, four yard gain 11th play-slant, incomplete-punt 12th play-play action, sack-five yard loss 13th play-play action pass to burkhead, 14 yard gain 14th play-slant, 9 yard gain, first down 15th play-zone read, five yard gain 16th play-zone read, burkhead breaks 3 tackles to gain 10 yards 17th play-play action, T Mart has 10 second to throw the ball, takes a sack-loses 10 yards Those are the plays in order that we ran in the third quarter. I've said many times I liked how he called the first half but then came out in the second half and went into his typical predictable self. 7 zone reads for a total of 13 yards and that was bolstered by Burkheads run where he broke three tackles and hurdled a guy to get it. We ran 4 slant patterns-which worked in the third quarter going for a total of 30 yards. The D caught on in the fourth quarter but no slant and go? So out of the 17 plays we ran in the third quarter 11 of them were either a zone read or slant and they went for a total of of 43 yards. That's just me watching the game so the stats maybe give or take a yard or two. Doesn't seem very productive to me....
  10. So there are two LH's and they are both different? Hmm that's news to me and also a little amazing. Well then Willie, come out and give some relief to the suspense!!!
  11. Louisiana Husker, I know you have to read this every now and then so please give us some insight on what you are hearing. Any firings, any OC's that we are potentially looking at? Big Willie if you have any insight as well I would love to hear.
  12. No I'm not talking about the play action or fake punt, which I believe is Bo's call. I actually think he called a very good first half. But then why go away from it in the second half when they hadn't really stopped it consistently to that point? because he didn't want to get too predictable? He always tries to out think his opponent even before they have proven they can stop his O. He basically out thinks himself. I'm referring to running zone read after zone read in the second half when it hadn't worked for more than a handful of yards on any play. I'm talking about running slant after slant after slant. Towards the end of the game the OU defense had at least two players in the passing lane on slants bc everyone, including everyone in the room I was watching the game, knew it was coming. Ok so lets call timeout for the last play because they more than likely know a slant is coming. What's his call out of a TO? A SLANT PATTERN TO THE OTHER SIDE! That's a brain-buster! I've said time and time again that I don't think Wats is a bad OC he just doesn't perform in big games. Also, what formations or plays had the OU defense not seen? A play-action? A power play? Wildcat? Slant? The pass to T Mart was balsy and I thought it was a perfect time to call it. But then the next play he make a QB had proven all game that his pocket presence was poor at best, who had run 45 yards downfiled, 45 yards back, try to do something he hadn't done well in the first place. Things like that are just mind-blowing and is essentially what drives me nuts about wats.
  13. What happened to Bo LOVING him at corner? Like EZ said, if that's true I would think it has everything to do with his injury.
  14. They were talking about watson on 1620 the zone today and I agree exactly with what they were saying. When watson plays against a defense that just doesn't have the athletes that his offense does he can tear them apart. Even teams like Washington, KState, Okie State on defense, Colorado don't have close to the athletes that we do on our offense. On top of him taking advantage of scoring a lot of points against lesser defense which pads his credentials, he breaks out trick plays to make it look like he has an imagination. Is anyone telling me that we couldn't have beaten Colorado without running two wildcat passes? It sure would have been nice to see that in the texas a&m game! As was mentioned before, every year he completely pads his credentials in the non conference games-oh wait he only scored 17 against SDSU and his offense only scored 24 against Idaho. In addition it only scored 20 pts against KU. So he's down his starting gamebreaking at QB? Heres a thought-adjust and create a gameplan that puts your QB that's playing in position to succeed! My gripe isn't that he's a bad OC, it's that in big games against top defenses he goes into a shell and doesn't adjust throughout the game. Please someone name me five games since 08' that his offense has played a top 30 defense and scored more than 24 points.
  15. so zoogies, I feel like I'm getting a lot of different vibes from you regarding Watson. What is your overall simplified opinion of Watson?
  16. What is wrong with some of you? Can't get good players? Won't ever be Florida or USC or Texas? As of right now we have a top ten recruiting class in the country. Yes USC was great in the 2000's but where were they in the 90's and where are they heading now? Where was Florida in the early 2000's? Of course they are always going to get great recruits, bc they have them in their back yard. Also winning will bring players. We return to 10 wins years in and year out and we will have just as much talent as anyone in the country.
  17. It's not that we don't have speed at all it's that watson and the other offensive assistants don't put the playmakers in position to make a play. Antonio Bell, Mendoza, Gillyelan, Helu, Reed, Paul all have very good speed. Going forward Bell, Gilleylan, Reed, Green, Kenny Bell, Reed all have the potential to be gamebreakers but again I doubt that any of them get the chance to do something in a creative way. Oregon uses a ton of different option plays, jet sweeps, screens etc. in order to get the ball in their playmakers hands. What do we do? The most creative ways we have done so far is the wildcat, one form of a jet sweep that bc of the lack of execution has gone for at most 7 yards, and we tried to run an option where Paul was the outlet where it was run so poorly it almost resulted in a TO. This is one reason, among many, that I want Watson gone. He shows no ability to create unique ways to get his playmakers the ball in space. He consistently opens up the playbook against lesser teams which makes his ypg, ppg and overall image look much better than it actually should be. Going back to last year we saw reverses, and stretching the field in non conference games. This year we saw both helu and burkhead in the backfield with T Mart, in the CU game where we have proven that we can move the ball at will he decides to break out two half back passes with Rex. Although he ran two passes out of the wildcat he also threw no less than 15 slant patterns which anyone in the stadium or at home could call was coming in a passing situation.
  18. Come on people!!!!!!!! Please quit suggesting that leach, mangino, gill, TO or any other one time head coach will come back and be an assistant!!! Never, ever, ever, ever will any of these coaches be an assistant coach at NU.
  19. I was actually pretty happy with how the o line played last night. We completely pounded it down their throat when watson actually called power plays. our pass blocking did suck pretty bad but they were just completely teeing off on our line so why not try to run a middle screen, shovel pass, qb draw? Anything to slow down the rush on the qb....isn't that what OC's usually do? This has just been the common theme as long as watson has called plays-has a few good series then completely chokes and ends up costing us the game. The last two years I can really count THREE games that Watson has actually carried his weight, that being the okie state game, k state game this year and I suppose the mizzou game this year. I understand we had several injuries last year and we are starting a freshman qb this year but at what point do the excuses stop? Teams all around the country are having the same issues we are and are still pushing through.
  20. On top of that look at our replacements on the o line next year. Qvale, who's 6'7 330 lbs and A Rod who's 6'6 320 lbs will more than likely hold down the guard spots. Can we expect them to run damn near sideline to sideline consistently on zone read plays? Like I said before, we have to many mismatches on our offensive staff. It was fine when Pelini first started to keep some sort of familiarity from the prior years but it's now time for a change to create a common background from our coaches.
  21. Like Mceweons article said in another post. We have to get a staff that isn't just patchwork. We have our tight ends coach who's main experience is in a option/power run game offense, a running backs coach who's main experience is in the spread, an OC who's a west coast man, a WR's coach who's west coast, and an OL coach who's a power running/option guy. We need to get everyone on the same page and this learning over time has cost us two big 12 championships. I've heard "well if you think that Beck is going to be better you've got another thing coming" a few times. How does anyone know that? Has he actually ever called plays for a team before? Has he ever been an OC before? He can't be worse than Watson that's for sure.
  22. If Taylor would leave of course that would be a HUGE loss. With his running skills and his anticipated growth in his passing over another spring/summer/fall camp I think he would have been one of the most feared players in the big ten. BUT, if Bo has proven anything in his time here it's that he's a winner. Starting running back gets dismissed from the team during fall camp? Plug in a true frosh and keep going. Lose your starting senior LB who you moved from RB in the first place? No problem, just plug in a junior walk on who has had hardly played in four years. Starting QB and pretty much entire O-line get injured? Not an issue, just let the wizard that is Bo and his defense take over and win games almost by itself. We have capable backups including Cody Green, Brion Carnes (who I have heard very good things about) along with Turner coming in at semester and will be able to go through spring ball. Bo will adjust and everything will be fine. As great as Taylor can be he's not worth risking the morale of the entire team for.
  23. It'd probably be a pretty good bet to think that Arkansas is going to bring up the fact that they will play games wayy closer than he would should he come here. I would hope he already thought that through and isn't going to let that affect his decision.
  24. true but we are also graduating 4 DB's. I honestly think that both Jackson and Mitchel could come in and start by their redshirt frosh years if they redshirt at all. From the outside it looks like we are loaded at corner but IMO we are pretty thin in the coming years especially if Mitchel jumps ship. We have Green, Evans, Mitchell, Washington, Bell and who else? Out of those guys how many have contributed at all so far, Evans? We absolutely need to hang on to both corners we have committed.
