You all do realize that it won’t matter if we run the table, ESPN won’t give us or any other B1G school (save maybe Ohio State and Michigan) props now that their network is anchored to the ACC, BIG XII, and SEC, right? The B1G has nothing to do with ESPN or ABC now. This is why Fox is going forward with their own version of College GameDay—so there’s counter programming and commentary to bolster the B1G and conferences it has significant ties with (see BIG XII).

The multi-million dollar question is which school balks first--Oklahoma (and separately, Texass) or Michigan? Unless there's some sort of clause for conference realignment, one of the schools is paying the other not to play.

Mods—tried to reset my password using the password reset function on the site and I still have yet to get an email allowing me to reset my password. I was able to find a device I was still signed in on to post this and work around the issue...but still, password reset on the site doesn’t appear to work.

We’re well beyond regional draws and carrier fees at this point. It’s all about National caché and drawing eyeballs from a national audience, which Miami, ND, FSU, and Clemson do (along with Nebraska)… Beyond this, you start dipping into basketball draws.

This is honestly what I expected when Bolt was hired…sucks that it took a few years to get here, but this appears on paper to be the best staff we’ve had this side of Van Horn’s staff.

This has been a long time coming. Christy was a hell of a catcher for DoNU, but we were consistently seeing underwhelming performance as pitching coach. Plus with the hire from Wichita State and promoting Rob Childress…I think the issues we have will be addressed. There’s zero reason why we can’t be consistently at or near the top of the B1G in baseball. Plus if USC and UCLA are playing ball in the B1G, conference baseball could be on an upswing…

So naturally they’ll tire of each other’s company and break up…because the thrill is gone.

No, Bolt doesn’t need to be treated like Frost and (most likely) Hoiberg. Bolt has shown improvement over last year in defense and hitting. the only thing that’s been consistently letting us down is pitching, and that’s because Bolt made what he likely thought was a safe hire with Jeff Christy, only to be let down by him three years going. All Bolt has to do is find/replace Christy with a good pitching coach (preferably one that played the position), and we have the rest of the pieces to right the ship and get Nebraska back on top in the B1G. Now, the question is, does Trev even care about what happens with sports not named football enough to ask Bolt to make that change? Once upon a time, Nebraska was one of ~12 programs in the nation that made a net profit off of the baseball program when it was going extremely well…so it should be on his radar that if things get turned around, this program will be (at worst) revenue neutral and possibly help pay for other programs. Look—I’m pissed that our pitching was so suspect that we lost to to a card game school, a crappy ‘Thumper school, and programs from states that are some of the worst in the Union. But look at things holistically, and there’s improvement…just not as much as we want. Fix/replace what is broken and keep improving…with a goal of having three quality starters again and can help ensure there are no more midweek drops.

Jeff Christy was a poor hire from the jump as pitching coach, said this from the beginning. Rest of the areas are sound, but pitching should be a strength going into this season. Instead, it’s invalidated the excellent offense and good defense we’ve been playing. Firing Bolt isn’t the answer—just replace Christy with a competent pitching coach and we’re Top 25 easily with this offense and defense.

More evidence that Jeff Christy needs to go before we completely lose Bolt. Other facets of the game are strong, but pitching is the most important one…and we can’t even beat either of the Dakotas and get 20 hung on us by Maryland? C’mon, it’s time Trev stood up and makes Bolt hire a real pitching coach.

Nope. Time to dump Jeff Christy as pitching coach before the Bolt era becomes unsalvageable…been saying since his hire this was the weak link on the staff, and it’s been proven time and again this season our pitching is suspect at best…when it should be our strength by now.

The pitching has been horrible—had we decent pitching all around, the San Diego series box scores wouldn’t have looked like it came straight from Ron Burgandy’s (or specifically Champ Kind’s) news desk. When Bolt was hired I was concerned about not hiring an actual pitcher (and instead going with former Catcher Christy) for pitching coach, and we’re seeing a definitive lack of coaching on the pitching side (for example: lack of situational awareness, balks, poor development). Our hitting (save for RISP, which was already covered) looked better than last year, as did our defense. I would suggest Christy is our weak link currently and (if pitching doesn’t substantially improve this year) should be replaced with an actual tenured pitching coach (e.g. Silva).

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has been underwhelmed with the position coaches and coordinators being brought on. Then again, we settled with the Rhule hire and we could/should have done better, so I'm not exactly jazzed about what's going on at Memorial Stadium as a whole right now.

What. A. F******. Idiot. Yeah, pretty sure he just guaranteed a hostile takeover (a la Notre Dame in 2001*) *May have been 2000…it’s been a while. Now if we can put this game away early and get the student section so pissed off they get ejected on national television…again…

One of the announcers made it sound like that was intentional--like that was a coaching decision based on film of the kid? Not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth. Just want to know if the kids can ride that gift horse towards some mediocrity (at least) this season, or if this win is fool's gold.

Well, we were *closer* to mediocrity than they were this season...so there's that. I guess.

Deion is telling current players to go jump in the portal and GTFO. The GTFO is implied, of course. But yeah...this is looking more and more like a Colorado s*** show. Then again, with the street value of those mountains in Denver, I'm sure Deion will be fully energized to coach Colorado to mediocrity.

Was out and about last night and watched the game on replay--loved how the officials really called things loose and allowed the game to happen (unlike, say, our game vs. Baylor in the NCAA Tourney with Miles and an official who made every game he oversaw about him). Kids fought hard, love the defensive look of this team, love how gritty they played. Not sure if Creighton deserved to be #7 (or Top 25 TBH), but it's always a great day when DoNU shows up against Creighton, regardless of the sport. My concern going forward is how much of this win was Creighton just not being as good as advertised, and how much of this was the kids scrapping and hustling. I really hope it's the latter, and we'll find out soon enough. A tough, defensive-minded attitude and gameplan will (hopefully) go far for this team in the B1G.
