  1. I have a hard time believing this is really from Nicole Baun. Poor grammar, "30 secs", etc. Either it is fake, or it was unsolicited from anyone with any say so. No way Green, Carter, Moos, or anyone else actually planned to use this type of data to make a decision. The fact people tweeted it out like it was some type of official survey by the University itself really makes us look dumb. (At least I pray it wasn't legit...that's even scarier)
  2. One thing I am struck by here in the Greenville area is the level of regularity that I see other Husker fans. Probably weekly or at least every other week I see a different Husker vehicle or run into someone from Nebraska. So, it makes me wonder if there are enough of us to get an official Husker plate for the state of South Carolina. Sound crazy? Well, Purstinkindue has one. Check out the image. All we need is a non-profit sponsor and $6800 to get started. If we have even 250 people, that’s a measly $28 to get the ball rolling. I’m posting here to see if we can get a grass roots foundation of folks. Maybe I’m crazy, but it would be sweet to have a Blackshirts or Herbie plate. Reply or DM me if you are N. http://scdmvonline.com/Vehicle-Owners/License-Plates/Organizations-Requesting-a-Specialty-Plate
  3. Dang. Three Holdregians in five minutes? Back in my day the sign always said there were only 5,276 of us. Are we all on here? Oh yeah, obligatory statement about me wanting Frost as our next coach and affirmation that I have nothing against @jessica0 or her posts. I hope she is right on! GBR!
  4. Just checking. Obviously you never got to experience a Swedish Day parade in all its glory!
  5. Me too and me too. We used to cruise 4th after another Husker win...now we give up 50+ to Minnesota. Go figure.
  6. Welcome USA Jags! Lots of great suggestions so far. My wife is from Grand Bay and I lived in the Mobile area for 8 years. Downtown Lincoln is the polar opposite of downtown Mobile. The only similarity may be O Street and Dauphin Street. You will have a lot of fun and you will feel/be safe. Enjoy!
  7. We talked about this in the game discussion thread and I think it was just an accident. Thanks, Moiraine. That's what I figured. I guess I couldn't move on until I asked...since it had such a huge effect on the game and all...I could have done more research in the other threads...thanks for bailing me out! GBR!
  8. I never heard anything about a penalty on the touchback...can anyone confirm what happened? I know the refs had a hard time seeing some stuff out there...were the yard lines giving them fits too? Thanks!
  9. Clemson or Georgia Tech would bring me a short road trip at least every few years, so I love the idea.
  10. I'll take that. Hour and a half drive? No problem...closer than Holdrege to Lincoln back in the day. Who wants to meet me at Drago's for some charbroiled oysters?
  11. Got a question maybe someone can help me with...I haven't been to a spring game in a LOOOOONG time, so can someone tell me if they print out actual tickets similar to real game tickets? I'm thinking of buying one just to collect, as I will not be able to attend. But, if its some generic or raffle style ticket, I'll pass. Thanks.
  12. I hope we get several down here, as I live about 15 minutes from Mobile. Always fun to go to the Meet the Players event and get autographs and chat for a bit. Last year was great, as a bunch of them came...but the article forgot Eric Haag...he was down here too.
  13. umm, Nick coahes in the SEC, not the weaker big 12. Nick also will be taking his team to two nation championship games (winning one already). Nick has also taken his team to three BCS bowls. Bo hasnt done any of these in a weaker division and weaker conference. Bo is a decent coach, but not on the same level as Nick. Umm, actually, Nick has been coaching a lot longer than Bo. And, as I stated, I was only comparing first 4 years with their current teams. And, before you go bowing down to the SEC, take a look at Alabama's schedule this year... They played a whopping 3 ranked teams this year!!! Of course, LSU part one...The others? Penn State at #24 and Arkansas at #7. They will play their 4th, obviously, next month. Nebraska has played 4 ranked teams so far, with our 5th being next month. We played Wisconsin (9th), Michigan State (12th), Michigan (13th), and Penn State (24th). We will add #10 South Carolina to the list in the bowl. Who had the tougher schedule this year? Might want to revisit that one. Nobody is arguing that Saban has had the results these last few years...but since nobody thinks its fair to go back and compare Nick in his first years, I was comparing Bo's record to Nick's record over a more reasonable comparison time frame. Also, should we compare the number of NCAA violations between the two schools? Or is that unfair to Nick? Bottom line is, wins are wins, and people need to get over the whole worshiping the SEC mindset. Are they the best conference? Yes. Are they THAT much better? NO. Looks at Bama's schedule as proof. If the conference is so amazing, how do you only play 3 ranked teams all year? One being a non-conference matchup with a Big 10 team? Hmmm..... Guess this is where someone comes in and says that they all have to play such amazing teams each week and they are so balanced that they beat up on each other all year and that hurts them overall...blah blah blah Maybe I am overly sensitive to the bias since I live in the heart of it, but it is pretty amazing to me hearing fans of teams in other conferences talk in awe about the SEC. Talk about being narrow minded. Nevermind Nebraska is 19-5 or whatever it is against the SEC...
  14. Just for fun, compare those stats to the "King" of college football, Nick Saban and his last 9 years in college coaching. All were at Bama and LSU, so nobody can claim its not fair because he wasn't at top notch programs... 1831 Points total (237 less than Bo) in 118 games (1 less) 15.51 PPG (1.9 less) 24 losses (1 less) 2 years with 5 or more losses (2 more) 1 year giving up more than 300 points in 13 games (same) For even more perspective, compare his first 4 years with Bama to Bo's first 4 years as Head Coach period: Bo 38-15 Nick 43-11 That's not too shabby...of course, those 1.25 wins per year would have put a different spin on a couple of our seasons. But, still...to be 5 games off the pace of the "pace setter" your first 4 years as a coach is nothing to shake a stick at if you ask me.
  15. haha...Oh wait, HEY! Very TOUGH Dusters...you know, they are almost as big as tornadoes...and we all know the destructive power a tornado can have. Also, if our name isn't tough enough for you, at least we had an intimidating jersey color scheme...Purple AND Gold! So, in your face!
  16. I thought that was pretty hilarious. It was obvious the writers randomly picked a location in the midwest that would be good for a witness protection hideout. The "Kearney, NE" they actually showed in the episode bore no resemblance whatsoever to the real place. At least they pronounced it right in the dialogue. Lots of Nebraska references over the years on South Park. The guys behind that show are from Colorado, so no big surprise. One of the characters in their movie "Team America: World Police" was a former Nebraska QB. There was also a King of the Hill episode where Hank takes Bobby to a Texas football game - and they were playing Nebraska. Actually, the brother of a buddy of mine (I know, I know) from Holdrege is actually the "animation and technical supervisor" for South Park...so he may have something to do with it...he's been there since the beginning. Ryan Quincy is his name. I used to hang out with his brother, David, all the time in high school. So, I guess, I'm kinda famous...right? You had me at "Holdrege" When I lived in Lincoln, my best friend played his Bruce Springsteen NEBRASKA album. (I was just telling my Son about this album last weekend) Ah, yes...Holdrege...I will forever be proud of being born and raised a Duster!
  17. That's pretty funny...I will be moving to Fountain Inn in June, and so this is USC's chance to audition for my local partiality once I'm there. Honestly, I've leaned towards Clemson most of my life when it comes to the Palmetto state teams, as my parents are from the Easley area...but got some diehard Gamecock fans for cousins who are doing some recruiting...should be a lot better than Alabama/Auburn, as I never liked either one all that much...but more partial to the Tigers because of their fans being better and more realistic...
  18. SC is +/- the 5th best team in the SEC and the other game has the top 2...therefor, more talent. I would actual have to say that KSU vs Ark will be the best indicator. KSU does not have very much talent, but plays solid as a team. I really think that KSU is not very good, but if they make it a game at the Cotton Bowl vs Arkansas, you would have to believe that the SEC is over hyped. I really don't feel like you can call this years Champion a National Champion. After the way Okie Lite handled Oklahoma they sould have been put into the title game. Well.... I'm guessing that if LSU wins... not only will they be hailed as legitimate NC's --- they will likely be heralded as the best of all time. We, especially as Husker fans (in view of 71 and 95 Huskers) want none of that... lets all yell "Roll Tide" NO NO NOOOOOOOO!! You obviously do not live in Alabama...I don't think I can put up with "14" and all the "fans" that come with it...Bama fans are very similar to Notre Dame fans believing they are the very tip top of the college football universe, nevermind the way they "won" some of those 13 previous NC's...For me, as a resident of Alabama, it's: Geaux Tigers ALL THE WAY!!! If Bama wins, my wife and I will not be able to be around her family for quite some time!! (slight exaggeration..SLIGHT)
