We just had to be terrible in the one year that Wisconsin also sucks and left the West WIDE open? Ugh.
-
almost got to witness Frost's first loss and then his first win today. but instead just two losses. just hurts man.

I'm estimating that I'm gonna log about 550 hours worth of work for about $20,000 this month. God help me! Haha.
-
...this Colorado team looks pretty damn good overall.

@Toe That's exactly what I was thinking.

i missed it live - how did the martinez tip play get ruled a safety? illegal batting of the ball or something? seems bogus

I'm only explaining what the announcers said during the game. Possession is ruled differently for runners and receivers as we have seen many times. At some point the rules makers determined this would be the rule for a QB who catches his own batted pass. If he catches it he has to then be a runner and cannot pass forward a second time. If he chose to pass a second time outside the end zone it would be a penalty but in the end zone it is ruled a safety.

In light of the Urban Meyer cover-up news, do you think Osborne would have survived the 90's as head coach if it was in today's time of social media and hot takes? At the very least, without proper context and from the outside in, some of his behavior looks ~very~ morally suspicious.

@Comfortably Numb what about the hidden gun?
-
Plus I will add, after LP was gone TO still was in contact with him and continued to try to help and support him even when there was no benefit for the football program. That tells me a lot about Tom. I think it was a very hard decision for TO at the time and it was driven more by what would help LP than by what would help NU football. Even if it obviously ended up being the wrong way to handle it, as TO admits now
-
@HuskerNBigD What about the gun...? I don't think TO handled that the right way at all and what should've happened is much more cut and dried than in the LP situation. Look, I'm not claiming TO was any kind of saint but I do think a lot of people misrepresent or don't really understand the LP thing. It was not a win at all costs wild west environment but there may have been a few things that flirted with or stepped over that line. That should shock no one considering what our team accomplished in the 90's and virtually every team that has ever attained that level of success. Plus, when you're that good, the scrutiny gets turned way up. It doesn't mean questionable things aren't happening everywhere, just that there is no reason to look at a .500 level team or coach.

Frost effortlessly worked in a reference to the Husker Prayer in answering a question during his opening press conference about what success is - "Day by day, we're gonna get better and better"

In the past week I've broken up with my girlfriend, slept in a car, missed a flight, had an iphone break, and now today found my back windshield completely smashed in and gear I was borrowing from others stolen Stay away from me Satan.

Lebron to the Lakers. 4 year, $145m deal.

I haven't paid attention to the Lakers for years. Do they have any players that the addition of LBJ will make them better or will he just take points from current players? It makes sense that the NBA wants this franchise to be in the mix again. Heard he was talking to Kevin Durant about joining him which might level the playing field in the west.

@MLB 51 I think Chris Paul was able to get more money from the Rockets because he was re-signing with Houston after playing with them last year. Teams are able to pay "their free agents" more than other teams and allows teams to go over the salary cap/luxury tax threshold to sign their own players. Chris Paul also was the head of the NBA Players Association when the collective bargaining agreement was being renegotiated a couple years ago, so he was doing everything he could to make sure he would get paid.

okay that's about enough vs threads - i'm sorry for contributing to the phenomenon it has gotten way out of hand

12 hour overnight layover in Denver - thanks Frontier

USA/Canada in women's hockey is the most underrated rivalry in all of sports.

@ladyhawke check the thread in BS forum - it's about the Christian music industry

Mark Dantonio might be the best coach in America. What he's done at MSU is pretty unprecedented in the history of the game - this year's team was supposed to be a 5-6 win squad. Dude is amazing.

Just one additional note - we should probably be careful speculating or suggesting what any coach could do at a larger program with more resources. Not only has it backfired (Rich Rod, Brady Hoke, Charlie Strong, Mike Riley), but, it also unintentionally insults the job guys like Meyer and Saban do. Sure, they have a ton of resources and advantages at their disposal, but they're also really good coaches. It would be unfair of us to hold that over their heads while suggesting another coach would do the equivalent if given the opportunity.
-
Not a fan of Saban, excellent recruiter in he's recruiting hot bed but he was very average at MSU, bit above at LSU and horrible in the NFL. He said he prefers college over NFL coaching because the NFL has to much parity in talent. Well, nothing like parity to see how good a coach someone really is.

Bold prediction - Tanner will have a career in the NFL that lasts at least 4 years.
-
Real rich quote from Sean Payton, who was banned from coaching for a year because of covering up and implementing a bounty system of injuring players, tonight after the game - "Why do you think there were so many injuries?"
-
"Bo you used to date my mom!"
-
Random fact of the day - Scott Frost wore #5 at Stanford, but more interestingly, his nameplate said, "SC. FROST".
-
Baker Mayfield is as entertaining of a douchy toolbag as ever existed. I kind of hate him but I kind of love him.
-
Wow. When Tanner is on, he's an absolute surgeon with his ball placement. It's a small thing that's really entertaining to watch in the middle of this turd sandwich season. Currently 6/6 on this final drive.
