  1. WAY TO GO! A stop on D and march right down and score. I would consider that a good start.
  2. Cool story, bro. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
  3. Both teams will have to have their "A" games to win this week. Sparty can't just go through the motions, either. From what I'm hearing about the weather forecast, it just might be the team that doesn't panic when it gets sloppy, which could easily happen in bad weather. I think it's going to come down to the play along the line of scrimmage on both sides. I know this is not some big revelation, but the team that is able to get some push on the line of scrimmage will have the advantage. Ameer will have a hard time with hard cuts and bouncing around, but his balance after contact will be huge. If that contact comes 3 yards beyond the line, it will be a good night. I would think that Imani could get some more carries, he's not exactly Tigger out there and his speed and power could be useful. How big are Tommie Armstrong's hands? If he can get a decent grip on a wet ball, the playaction will be there.
  4. Great Job Landlord! I feel like I need to apologize for liking the uniforms, though. I think they looked great.
  5. Push We get two picks and a fumble recovery. A fourth pick is negated by a B.S. roughing the passer so I will count it as a 1/2. O/U Randy Gregory post whistle skirmishes 2.5 I'll take the under for $100, Alex. Over Under False starts by O-Line: 3
  6. Bo's job is NOT on the line today. There is no more pressure in this game than any other game for the players and coaches. Yes, the expectation of winning is there but, it always should be there for Nebraska.y I think there is a little more pressure. The BIG 10 has not been looking good this year, so far. The conference needs a signature win against a high profile team in another conference. It's up to NU. It's not necessarily Bo's job on the line, but do the players know that? They have experienced the statewide meltdowns before, after coming up short. I think we saw how much they start gripping when things get dicey at home. McNeese St. That is one reason I am optimistic about this year. Our toughest games are on the road, where the players seem to be able to cultivate an "us against the world" mentality that they seem to thrive on. Bo needs to find the right things to say or do to get the players confident and focused at home. That is where the whole mantra of "the process" comes from. Just focus on the process and the results will appear. We, as fans, get to focus on the results. The players need to focus on the process of doing what they are supposed to be doing. I think they worry too much about the end result, and as a result, grip really hard when the crowd gets quiet. They can feel the apprehension that permeates the stadium when the first missed tackle/block or turnover happens. Performance psychology dictates that the less importance that is placed on a given task, the easier it is to accomplish. I'm usually loathe to bring up the 90s, but I'm sure you've heard about how the practices were the hard part for those teams and gamedays were much easier than the practices. Now, most will mention how hard the practices were and that made the games seem easy. I posit that the practices were so hard because that is where the competition was the toughest, not so much by how physical they were, but if one earned a starting or back-up spot on those teams, then the hard part was accomplished. The game was the reward for the accomplishment of earning a chance to contribute. My understanding was that Tom Osborne would just tell a backup that "You earned this spot this week and I expect you to do your job the way we showed you." or something to that effect. That is such a calming, confidence inspiring thing to say. I'm not loathe to bring up a golf analogy, but that is where my expertise lies. You've got a 20 foot putt that you need to get down in 2. 2 putts from 20 feet should not be a problem.... on #7 it isn't. But those 2 putts on #18 to break 70 or for a personal best is much more difficult. Woe unto you if you blow it by 4 feet or leave it 5 feet short. Tour pros shoot ridiculous scores during practice rounds, which they rarely replicate in tournaments. Same course, wildly different scores. It's 90% mental and the other half is physical. Even in football. All apologies for my nervous energy infused, excessively lengthy, somewhat rambling, probably confusing, posty post.
  7. I'm thinking Randy Gregory will have several sacks. O-Line doing well = Ameer,Imani and T.Newby with a huge day.
  8. There better be 2 stripes on those pants! TWO STRIPES!
  9. I'm just not sure what to make of this. Tuff Tiger .... those were the days. Perhaps he started an intranets troll cult or something. Trolling is an art form. In a world filled with the usual bait, it is difficult to stand out. Kind of akin to a worm on hook with a bobber vs flyfishing using flies that you have tied yourself. One is very easy and boring and the other takes some skill and a deft touch.
  10. I'm a little nervous. We seem to try too hard at home. Kids know that their coach's job is on the line. It's difficult to focus so much energy and effort into just doing your job. They care about Bo, and don't want to let him down, so I can see several players trying to do too much. If the O-Line can just get some push, we should be OK. I don't see da ewe scoring many points. I hope the players don't let the trash talking take them out of their game. I would understand really wanting to shut someone up, but then we are playing into their hands. I'm hoping for gritted teeth and focus on what needs to be done.
  11. Place would be great if the food didnt suck. I always enjoyed watching the world cup games there though. Bummer. I like the food. I usually stay away from the burgers and bar fare though. Fish Tacos.... The jalapeno, shrimp, bacon appetizers are very good.
  12. Flips Patio and Grill on I-35 west at Western Center Blvd. North Texas Nebraskans rent out the back room for Husker Games. They just completed an update to all the TVs and sound system. Great Crowd, really good, diverse grub(not just bar fare), raffle for Husker Gear each week and they turn the commercials down and play Husker fight songs. I have seen some special guests attend(former players and NU athletic dept. reps). The staff is great and the service is awesome. If you live in the western part of DFW, you need to experience this place. I feel there is much more support from the establishment than Cape Buffalo ever displayed and I'm not even going to mention Papa Gs in Watauga that had the honor a few years ago. Get there early, it does fill up pretty fast. Huskers had the run of the entire establishment for the FAU game. 2:30pm kick and the place was packed with Husker fans. It's a big place, too.
  13. Well... My only issue is with those stating he "consistently" does blah blah blah. If he consistently missed short passes or whatever the criticism is, he wouldn't even be at 50%. I've seen him hit at least as many as he's missed, so I wouldn't call that consistent. It takes two to tango and even more to complete passes. There have been missed receivers, along with some drops and the occasional throw away. "That's the way football go"- Ron Washington(former Texas Rangers manager) if he coached football. I've seen Eli Manning miss several receivers, too. He has 2 Super Bowl wins. Tommy's record as a starter is pretty good. The "would be interceptions against X team" is pure speculation. That is why the games are played.... on the field, not in one's imagination. One can criticize whatever one wants to, just don't expect to keep any credibility when the criticism doesn't match with what is actually happening. 7 to 1 TD to INT is pretty good. How many fumbles has he had this year? I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem excessive. I would think not turning the ball over is a good thing, unless wishing for losses to justify desired changes. I feel the expectation level being placed on a sophomore is unreasonable. It seems we have several weapons and I feel he is doing a good job at distributing the ball. I didn't say great job, there is room for improvement, and I think it will come. I think our biggest issue is O-Line and LB right now. I'm really looking forward to this weekends game. Several things should become apparent. Personally, it looked like McNeese St. had better players than we thought and we were surprised. There shouldn't be any surprise this weekend. GO BIG RED!!!!!
  14. Hmmmm..... just the black-out gets censored. whiteout is at least as bad.
  15. Testing: b******* blackouts Just seeing if "b*******" really does get censored and if the plural does not. Checking quotation marks just for the hell of it.
  16. The guy right in front of Westerkamp actually recovers quickly. TA started to throw to Westerkamp but pulled it back down. It's kind of a fine line as far as progressions go. You definitely look to one then the second and so on. It's not always realistic to expect him to see the #2 option is open before he decides the #1 option isn't. This type of play would probably be an exception. He's rolling toward both receivers and it would normally be more of an option as opposed to a specific #1/#2. You're expecting them to not be able to cover both so you're looking for whoever comes open. You should really be more looking for where the defenders are because you know where the receivers are going. I just think TA had already decided to throw it to Westerkamp (usually an excellent option). He *could* have gotten it through to Westerkamp (in the previous screen) but that's a Brett Farve type throw - Farve would probably get it there more often then not but he'd also throw several picks trying as well which makes people shake their heads. Most coaches would tell you he's not open and work to your next option. I see this as an example of a great opportunity to look off receivers. The corner recovered quickly by reading QB eyes. It looks like he was running up to stop Jamal, but sees Tommy staring Westercamp down, so adjusts. If he pumps to Jamal, I bet Westercamp is open or vice-versa, as soon as he sees the defender adjust, right when this snapshot is taken, hit Jamal in stride and give him a chance. When going through progressions, your receivers should be running routes that will develop in order. First read should be apparent rather quickly, second read should open up a second later after 1st read is not available. If your first read is going to take time to develop, but is there, that is when looking off defenders comes in handy. Since the O-line seems to be giving decent pass-pro, a pump fake now and then might be beneficial. The thing is, TA is a sophomore and he doesn't appear to have reached his ceiling, yet. Those not expecting improvement from a player that exhibits his leadership and work ethic are ...... just .... looking for a reason to hate. I would wager a large sum of money that he is pouring over that game film to see where he effed up. I'm sure they are just as bad at their jobs as they were on their first day, because improvement just doesn't exist. I know it's not his first day, but can you honestly not see any improvement from his early games last year? Why would we expect zero improvement? Wait.... never mind..... that last statement will derail thread straight into the Tangent.
  17. It's been a while since I went to a game at Memorial, so things have probably changed a lot. I have no problem with the... umm...seasoned fans not yelling the whole time and being a little more reserved. I do have an issue with the .... experienced... fans telling others how to behave. It's just general sense of entitlement of "how dare you upset MY game day experience, youngster! I've been supporting this University for X number years before you were even a twinkle in your daddy's diapers, so do as your told and sit down and shut up or I'm getting security!" Does anyone remember what it was like to be young, single and full of energy and excitement? I remember getting goosebumps for hours straight, coming in waves because of the adrenalin pumping in anticipation for being at a Husker game. I didn't get to go all the time, so when I did, I made the most out of it. Buzzkill is an understatement after being told to sit down and shut up. To be fair, it only happened twice. I made it a point to express my view respectfully, not just a flippant "No", but "I'm sorry, I haven't been to game in a long time and I really can't help myself. GO BIG RED!" I got a look of disapproval, but security wasn't called. Sort of an "agree to disagree" type of thing. I guess it is what it is and will always be. It's Nebraska. My take is: enjoy the game, do your thing, but there is no reason for disrespect on any side. You paid for your space in the stadium, so did everyone else, just need to respect others space, also. One doesn't need to stand the whole game, but one can't expect everyone to sit the entire game, also. Ramble off.
  18. Alabama plays FAU next, so we can kind of see how we stack up through common opponents. Also, word on the street is that the most improvement happens between Game 1 and Game 2. So, FAU will get a better Alabama than west Virginia did.
  19. Hate to play the zebra card, but c'mon. Late hits, holding non calls, Quincy was just interfered with.
  20. Jeez. No holding? Cam was held pretty badly on those last 2 plays.
  21. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Taylor freaking Martinez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. If they are going to bring pressure with all those players, I would think a screen pass might be in order.
  23. que? The aftermath of this game could possibly overload the servers. It was a bad joke about the impending meltdown. I know there is nothing to be done. Even if there was something, it would prolly be admins.
