Wow- so you obviously dont understand that the READ guy is UNBLOCKED

The offense is READING him- so NO ONE blocks him.

Its really really basic option football. Its been around FOREVER. Im embarrassed for you that you have no clue about a very basic football play run in almost every college game these days.

The Center has two jobs. One is to block, the other is to SNAP THE BALL PROPERLY, ESPECIALLY IN A SHOTGUN OR PISTOL FORMATION! How can a QB, any QB, read the schematically understood, unblocked defender whilst simultaneously exerting unnecessary motion to FIND AND CATCH THE SNAP? I would think such an accomplished, decorated, clearly superior in every quantifiable metric coach/man would understand the dual role of the Center position on the offensive line.

Edit: The Center has 3 jobs, usually. That position makes the line calls for the other offensive linemen.

Hogwash. This is akin to telling everyone who hasn't played Quarterback that they can't understand the position.

Not hogwash,  in no way akin to explaining a position on a football team. There is zero emotional baggage in explaining how to play qb.

Again, definitions are important. This is not "video of the assault."  It's not an assault until it's shown in court to be an assault. She hasn't filed charges yet.  Lot's of stuff pending in the situation.

As of now it's video of three kids which apparently show sex acts. Nobody has seen the video, so we can't be sure about what it shows. If it shows underage sex acts, even consensual, distribution of that video is a crime.

I don't need a court to tell me what is or what isn't an assault. If you're not a female assault victim, you don't understand the emotional barriers involved in reporting an assault. Just because she hasn't reported it, yet, doesn't mean it didn't happen. PTSD isn't just for war veterans.

It should be easy to confirm whether Maurice sent her the video or not. If he sent it, I don't want to hear another word about "high character". Legally guilty or not, sending that to anyone is not what I consider "high character".

  4. I don't get how the city of McKinney can be in the city of Dallas or the city of Frisco. I might have to sign up for the camp myself. I think I've got one year of eligibilty left. I can tell him Thornton Mellon is my inspiration. I will propose to teach him the Triple Lindy if he can teach me to "go deep".

Too many unknowns to really judge the character of anyone involved in this.  Like assuming he has good work ethic bc he took 23 hours.  Maybe he took 23 hours bc he wasn't getting it done early in the process.  Frost being a cutthroat doesn't fit with him honoring a RB who has torn his 2nd acl in as many seasons (both knees).  Supporting Washington, watts, and canty until the last minute last year before camp.

I will need more info to make a call on how the coaches handled it, but Tony seems to have handled it with class and best of luck to the young man.

I didn't say Coach Frost was cut throat, Saban surely is. You are correct in that there isn't a lot of definitive info provided to make any sort of judgement. It was a philosophical musing.

I want to be clear that I don't have an experts accumen on recruiting. My takes are more of the longtime fan on the outside looking in variety.

  6. Yeah, I'm far from an expert, but I was under the impression that we were taking up to 30 recruits. I'm inclined to believe that Tony Fair has a very good work ethic(23 hours in one semester), did what was asked of him and Nebraska bailed on him. If you want to run the program like Nick Saban, all the "if you are committed to us, we are committed to you" statements need to stop. The defensive line I watched this year needs all the help it can get. If his play suffered a little this year, the academic workload had a lot to do with that, I would guess.

I don't know. I don't want to be compared to Alabama off the field, just on it. You don't have to be a cut throat douche to succeed. It might make it easier, but at what cost? I trust the coaches over all, but a situation like this shows that they are not perfect. s#!t happens. Acknowledge it's kind of a s#!tty situation, and move on. I hope Tony Fair accomplishes his goals and doesn't blow up on a future opponent's team.

  7. I think his running attempts will go down a few per game as he gets acclimated to the offense, gets to know his offensive teammates strengths and tendencies. I am really encouraged about the coaching staff's ability to develop players. Pretty much every position performed much better as the season went on.

I am not too worried about the loss of some very good players to graduation, there are more on the way.

Still trying to find that job that I can say/do whatever I want even if it goes in against those that provide me the platform.  Not sure when the first amendment became the right to say whatever one wants at their job, but I’m fairly certain that’s not the intent.  If anyone thinks this doesn’t happen at every single newspaper then they’re sadly mistaken.  Any organization has an agenda that needs to align with a customer, sponsor, government, donor or share holder.

I happen to believe the Dean, who is quoted throughout, does a good job of explaining how the world works.  Replace “newspaper” with widget company and Liberty with Fortune 500 company.   The article author, much like yourself, attempts to turn this into something it isn’t.  The use of the term corruption is flat out lazy in this editorial.  Welcome to the real world where your boss/company has rules/agenda.

Except Liberty enjoys tax exempt status, so they can't be replaced with any widget company. The religious tax exemption is to offset all the supposed charity that religious institutions are supposedly doing. Providing a forum for Republican candidates and pushing a political agenda should not be considered charity, therefore I think they should be taxed accordingly or adhere to the intent of tax exemption status.

Edit: They also need to realize that they, in NO WAY, hold ANY moral high ground. Too hypocritical.

  9. I just wish I could get paid on a 25 to 1 horse that I put money on when it had a 3 link lead down the back stretch after I had already bet on the 2 to 3 favorite before the race started.

I don't follow the recruiting sites, I just peruse here and I appreciate all the info provided. What I don't understand is why there is no accountability when a CB is changed. Personally, I think once a Crystal Ball is changed, credit for being correct should be negated. If things are fluid and things happen, why was the CB issued in the first place?

Edit: I think we get Ty and he will be a contributor relatively early. He seems to have a plan for making his choice and I think that demonstrates his intelligence and thoroughness. We need defensive playmakers.

  10.

If they played for their own money, I would be interested. Even the side bets aren't to be taken seriously. I would rather watch 5 Tour Pros play Wolf or something, with Nassaus to keep guys interested in every shot. Playing with their own money.

Shadow Creek is mind boggling. I had a GM that was the superintendent there for a few years. He knows Steve Wynn and has told me a few stories. He was able to get me on Shadow Creek about 15 years ago. It is, hands down, the most immaculate place I have ever set foot upon. It's unreal, considering the location.
