  1. A team that has desire and will to win becomes a tougher team to beat too. We had talent, but no heart. It sounds like the Cornhuskers are out for blood this year. The losses in '07 wouldn't have been as hard to take if they just didn't give up on the field. I can handle 8-4 or whatever as long as the Cornhuskers are playing with heart and they're leaving it all out on the field. Nebraska's opponents need to know they were in the fight of their lives when they play Nebraska. I think of the old Nebraska song "Mighty Big Red" - "And so they come to beat the best, and the few that do know that they've messed with Big Red!". I think that the song was made in the 80's during the Big 8 era, but I wish they'd make an updated version for now.
  2. Awesome! I have a feeling the Cornhuskers conditioning will be awesome since they're in full pads when they are practicing. Was it before the '95 Orange Bowl that the Cornhuskers practiced in Full Pads all the way up to the Bowl Game, and Nebraska was the better conditioned team in the 4th quarter. Because Callahan hardly, if ever had the Huskers in Full Pads, it made the Huskers suffer. 1's vs 1's is awesome too. I can't wait to see the results this season!
  3. Let the Colorado fans be Classy like Oklahoma fans are, and maybe we'll accept it.
  4. At least with the PPV stuff you get to see the Tunnel Walk. That and even though there a lot of the University plugs, you don't have to sit through all the commercials. If my family doesn't get the PPV's, I know my Wife and I will probably go to The Varsity or BWW to watch the games. Brewsky's is a fun place to go to too.
  5. Sounds like were going to see some "Cornhusker Magic" this year or at least "Blackshirt magic". I just thought of a Tshirt that reads, "Blackshirt VooDoo". I can't wait to see the Cornhuskers out on the field.
  6. Great Find! All I could think of in the opening cartoon stuff was, "Ok, this must have been when Blue Bonnett was laced with acid." I loved watching the offensive and defensive schemes of the game. What was Nebraska running on defense? The nickel?
  7. My Sister and Brother In Law got Married last year in November on the Saturday before the Colorado game. They were on their Honeymoon during the Nebraska - Colorado game on a Cruise ship and I guess there was a lounge on the ship showing the game so they went, and they told us at kick off, some people decided they were going to take a drink every time some one got a touchdown. Needless to say, there were people wasted on the cruise ship that night. On another note, the Wedding Party entered the reception to Sirius. My Wife and I were the first to enter so I had to ham it up and kind of bounce in like the Cornhuskers do. It was awesome!
  8. NFM is actually doing that again? I remember when in 1997 NFM said "If Nebraska wins the National Championship, you get your TV for free". Of course I didn't do it, but I remember when Nebraska won a share of the National Championship that year, NFM explained that "Nebraska didn't win the Associated Press' National Championship, they won the Coaches National Championship. Anything to save a buck. If I remember correctly, the people who took part in the deal got a $500 gift card or something like money back on half the TV because they were Co Champions.
  9. O.K. fellow Cornhusker fans, the season just isn't getting here soon enough. We probably all mentioned our devotion to the Cornhuskers on the welcome board, but since we're a little more than a month away I thought it would be cool to let out all that emotion that is stirring inside us on why we Bleed Scarlet Red, and what it means to be a Cornhusker Fan NOW in '08 when the ship seems to be righted again. If you want to talk PAST, Present and Future, please do. I appreciate everyone's input. Call me nuts, but the only way to subdue my hunger for the season to start is to know that I'm not the only Husker Freak out there. I've said it time and time again. Being a Nebraska fan wasn't just by chance. It was by birth. My Dad stands 5ft 7in, and when Nebraska is on TV you can hear his voice a mile away. He's the one who got me interested. Watching the games growing up, understanding the rivalry between Nebraska and Oklahoma, and knowing the only color of choice on Husker Saturdays is Scarlet Red. Sometimes my Dad's influence rubs off on me because I'll be decked out from head to toe in Husker Stuff. Husker Hat, Shirt, Boxers, Socks... I have to have a Blackshirt on under my Husker Shirt or whatever Jersey I choose to wear too. I cried tears of joy and simply cried while rooting for Nebraska. Went to my first game in Memorial Stadium in 1995 and was able to see Tommie Frazier, Brook Berringer and co at work. Moving ahead to the present. I have a feeling that we're on the verge of seeing something really special happen with the Cornhuskers that begins in '08. Nebraska is on their way back to being the Dominant Program Again. GO BIG RED!
  10. Congrats Pillen! It's awesome to hear that you're living the dream. Does anybody else see a novel in his future? I was so happy to hear that Pelini brought back the Walk On Program, I think from the posts and responses that I have read from Pillen, he's going to kick the desire in Nebraska Football and the will to win up a bunch. GO BIG RED!
  11. Good 'Ol Barry Switzer. I loved when the Nebraska vs Oklahoma game was for the trip to the Orange Bowl and the OB would pretty often be the game for the National Championship. I know that Barry Switzer was the "root of all that was unholy" when Oklahoma played Nebraska and it was Barry Switzer vs Tom Osborne, but when Barry Switzer was with the Dallas Cowboys, he kind of grew on me. The video "Tom Osborne, More than Winning" Barry Switzer is an excellent story teller. Sounds like Barry Switzer hold the same high regard for Bob Devany that the does for Tom Osborne.
  12. I think the players that have been there with Callahan have gone through the "Pelini Purification Process", and all thoughts, memories and instructions given to them by Callahan will be wiped out. Callahan was supposed to have had all these 5 star recruits, but he didn't know how to bring out the best in them or push the desire to win or make them understand what Nebraska Football is about. From what I've read, Pelini has put that fire back into the TEAM. The key is TEAM. Callahan had individuals, Pelini has a TEAM.
  13. Got NCAA Football '09 game, and on the PS2 version anyhow, I couldn't find the Option. I looked in the I formations, and Singleback, but no such luck. On the same note, I've noticed the game is all about "Smashmouth" with the running game. What starts at 2-3 yards per carry early on in the game change to 5-7 yards and even more by the 4th Quarter.
  14. For me, Oklahoma vs Nebraska is THE Rivalry. All the others run a close second. Some people might talk up Michigan vs Ohio State, or Notre Dame vs Navy but being born and raised a Cornhusker Fan that bleeds Scarlet Red, you grew up knowing about the "Battle of the Big Red". I was born the year of the "Game of the Century" 1971. I so greatly miss the rivalry and the tradition. Osborne and Switzer were two men in the heat of battle where they shed blood, sweat and tears out on the field. When the final gone went off it was all about one thing. RESPECT. The players could be seen on the field shaking hands no matter what the score, and The OU vs NU decided who was in the Orange Bowl and who was going to play for a National Championship. I have had friends from Oklahoma and they are first class and one friend I had named Carl talked about how OU and NU kept helping the other to become better and better. Oklahoma has found it's way back on top, and Nebraska is on it's way back there again. If we can't have a Oklahoma vs Nebraska game in November, lets bring the programs back so it's the Big XII Championship year after year.
  15. Could you imagine if Osborne would have gone to Colorado? Imagine how much nicer the fans would have become. Excellent interview. His statement about the Cornhuskers 5 years from now kind of sums up The Cornhuskers when Osborne was Head Coach. Nebraska didn't win every game, but it was a team you didn't look forward to playing. I simply want a team where the opposition knows they are in for the fight of their lives. They need to know that the Cornhuskers aren't going to implode. Tom Osborne gives that calming effect that everything is going to be alright again.
  16. 2008 Iowa State Football. Even with help we still don't know the difference between Football and our @sses.
  17. Oops, scratch that, I meant to say 3-0, I guess the Red-White game doesn't count. LOL
  18. IF Nebraska goes 4-0 before playing Virginia Tech and Virginia Tech goes undefeated before the game, then I could see College Game Day in Lincoln. If we'd then BEAT Virginia Tech, Nebraska will break into the Top 25 too. I have a feeling Nebraska is going to be the sleeper team this year. Nobody expects much from Nebraska and Nebraska is going to be like a caged beast ready to break loose and be on the hunt for fresh meat.
  19. How about this tag line. Nebraska Football 2008 WE"RE BAAAAAAAACK!!
  20. I can see where you're coming from, but honestly, I don't think this team is a team of quitters, but rather they had a coaching staff that didn't know how to make the players understand what they were fighting for. Pelini has stressed that that they (The Staff and Players) are ready to get to work and do whatever it takes to get the job done. Someway, Somehow we're gonna see a complete 180 degree turn from the '07 Huskers.
  21. I think it's a toss up between Mark May and Kirk Herbstreet. I wonder where Kirk's hatred against Nebraska stems from. We didn't even play Ohio State when he was there. I guess that he thinks Ohio State is the best at everything because he played football there. Way to go unbiased Kirk. Mark May seems to talk to hear himself and is in a mindset where he's right about everything and anybody with a difference of opinion is an idiot. I miss seeing Trev Alberts on ESPN talking about football, he was a strong supporter of Nebraska football, but when he'd talk about anything in college football, he'd give key points to show his knowledge.
  22. Michigan was over-rated too. I mean there was 1 second left in the Rose Bowl, and if Washington State would have scored.. Who knows... It seems like Ivan Maisel seems to be in denial of Nebraska being undefeated and having a share of the title.
  23. I have a feeling we're going to break the top 25 this year although it will be in the twenties. I feel like we might get to #23 or so. I honestly kinda hate having to talk about us losing this game and that game because Nebraska has to go in with the attitude that we can win each game. What if we pull out the upset a few times this year? In 2008 Nebraska is the team where nobody knows what to expect from them. In a way, that makes us very dangerous. We're that team with nothing to lose and the only way to go from here is up. That, and it's payback time. It's not about where we've been, it's about where we're going! BACK TO THE TOP!
  24. Awesome to see a Navy guy that is going to be a part of the Sea of Red. Thank GOD, Pelini brought back the Walk On Program, because it adds to the amount of heart and determination on the field!
