Sometimes I wish I thought like you. However, this is a sport and winning is important and ultimately what makes a quality team. Last years team wasn’t awful but we didn’t have the winners we needed. This year we have some winners but a lot more losers. I don’t love this team or this program. It’s become dog sh$t. Mickey seems like a great guy but he ain’t THE guy. If we don’t wanna drop our pants and offer Urban whatever he wants then we will always be competing with Nebraska Wesleyan

So you’re convinced that Urban is the guy. Is it only based on winning? I guess I look at what a coach can build in these young men to prepare them for the future not just a temporary win in the football field.
I’m not a fan of Urban Meyer. I want a young hungry coach who is willing to work to build a quality program not someone who will come in for a bit then leave. That is so destructive.
We would then be left with folks longing for the ‘glory days of Urban Meyer’ just like folks are longing for the glory days of Devaney/Osborne.

Why do people think Meyer would be good for this program? Or that he would ever take the job?

    Good question

Well, Scott mostly had top 20 classes, until this past year, which was a small class. So, that all happened with lots of losing, right? Imagine what Nebraska could do if it won games? Effort and wins , and Nebraska can absolutely recruit top 10-15 classes. It just needs the right people working for them. Dedication, hard workers, hungry dudes, and smarts, and you’ve got a recipe for success. I’ve always maintained, you can win a national championship if you can constantly recruit in the 10-15 range.

“Dedication, hard workers, hungry dudes, and smarts, and you’ve got a recipe for success”

That is the smartest thing I’ve read on this board in a long time.  THAT is what this team is missing and that is the kind of coaches we need.

  3. -I learned that our fan base has unrealistic expectations, myself included. I didn’t think we would win but I was hopeful that we would play more competitively than we did.

-I learned that Mickey Joseph is a quality individual.  He may not be ready to be a head coach but he has the makings of one. It was refreshing to hear him take responsibility for the loss instead of offering excuses or throwing the players under the bus.
-I learned that for many winning at any cost is the only thing that matters. That makes me very sad because having a quality football team is what set Nebraska apart from the others.
-On the bright side we can only go up from here. I hope Trev takes a very long time to pick the next coach.
-I love this team. It grieves my heart to see how far we’ve fallen. :(

I learned we might be lucky to win more than 2 more games this seasons which is ridiculous when there are coaches out there doing a lot more with a lot less talent.  It crap that Nebraska can't develop players anymore.

Then let’s go after those kind of coaches.

    I'll start:

    • The #6 team in the nation only scored four more points on the Nebraska defense than Georgia Southern.

    • The Single Digit Loss streak has finally come to an end.

    • Nebraska reserves got legitimate playing time. When was the last time you saw that?

    • Only one member of the 1971 Championship Team is in a wheelchair.

-The captains were on the sidelines all game trying to encourage the younger players.

-That we scored first against a team that is #6 in the nation was huge.
-That our coach took personal responsibility for the loss was encouraging. He didn’t give excuses or throw his players under the bus.

You got to weigh the good and the bad. His reputation also shows he is a winner.

The ‘bad’ outweighs the good.  I’m sorry but he treated his players like crap, he was under investigation by the NCAA various times, he’s unstable!  As long as he wins he stays but the minute he starts to lose he’s gone.

I am going to apologize to the board right now. Anything I post during or after the game, please consider it a drunk post unless I say otherwise.  Mavric, you can put me in timeout if you have to.

I am very anxious right now. I have gone through a pack of gum already. That titos bottle is tapping me on the shoulder.

This team and this state has had a very emotional week. It is a long shot, but I hope they win. Or at least show significant improvement.

    GBR!!!!

I think we all feel the same.  I apologize if I have offended anyone with my Urban Myth rants.  I just don’t think he is good for Nebraska.  He might say all the right things but his actions speak louder than words!

Urb doing a great job catering to the crowd on Big Noon Kickoff, he's no dummy.

This is the hire to turn around NU right now.  However, I'm also a realist and know the administration, powers to be and fan base will poo poo this to not happening and leading to a meh hire.

Paul, I adore you but I vote NO to Urban Meyer  He is toxic.  His reputation proceeds him.

I lost my father unexpectedly August 18 of this year.  Frost still gave us some hope up to the very day my dad left and we were excited to watch the games together this year, as we had done my entire existence.  There is nothing like the father and son bond of Husker support.  I feel you.

Sorry for your losses gentlemen. I lost my Dad in 2017. We loved talking about sports.
