  1. Thats why I have no problem with 19. It is a large number but think about how many times we shuffle linebackers and secondary people. A starting linebacker may not even see most of the game when we play teams like Michigan. When Nebraska does its' starting line up for the game they always have 14 or 15 guys because who knows who is going to be needed right off the bat. I posted on this subject yesterday. At that time I had always been of the opinion that the Blackshirt had to be 'earned' and thought that only the very best players (namely the starters) were awarded them. I had always heard that it was a HUGE deal to receive one. So when I started to hear about the 'controversy' it made me a little sad. I didn't want this tradition to be watered down or lose it's value. Well, my fears were unfounded and Charlie McBride is the one who gave me confidence that Bo is doing just fine where the Blackshirt tradition is concerned and I got that information from the article that was posted here. Charlie McBride said this about the giving of the Blackshirts: "McBride tried to follow the traditions of coordinators like Van Zandt, Monte Kiffin and Kelly. But every coaching staff is different, McBride said. There's no right or wrong way." So if a legend like Charlie says there's no right or wrong way then why should Bo be judged for giving out the Blackshirts the way HE wants to give them out?
  2. So, just so I can be clear you think that the sheer number of players have increased and therefore there are more opportunities for the Blackshirts to be given out?
  3. *Mods if this topic has already been discussed please delete this post* I was listening to 1620 the Zone the other day and they were talking about the awarding of the Blackshirts. They had Jason Peters on and they asked him what he thought about it. He said he thought it was awful. It watered down the tradition of the Blackshirts. He said that some of the kids that played really well never saw the Blackshirt until their senior year. He said that he didn't think that the current staff really understood the significance of the Blackshirts. What do you all think? I tend to agree. It takes away the value of the shirts to give them out like a 'participant award'. What's your vote?
  4. Thanks for stopping by Andy. OSU is looking really good this year. I hope you guys stay undefeated. The B1G is da bomb. We have had so many people from the various teams come to this board and welcome us. When it was official this summer it was like a big party. The B1G Network showed a whole bunch of our old games. It was so much fun. I miss the Big 8 too. I'm originally from Missouri. It was always so much fun just the 8 teams. When we became the Big 12 it was just awful. But I remember telling my husband that it didn't matter because when a former 'Big 8' team played another 'Big 8' team, no matter how bad that other team was, they would just play their hearts out. If the B1G ever expands I too would love to see us take OSU/OU/MU/KU-can you imagine how great that would be!!! But in the event that doesn't happen, it would be really fun to play you guys before the regular season begins. Best wishes on the rest of your season.
  5. I agree. The B1G reminds me of our old Big 8 back in the day. I do miss playing Oklahoma though. My wish is that if the Big 12 breaks up they would come into the B1G. That's probably not going to happen but it would be fun. (Or if we could play them every year before our regular season starts. THAT would be really fun.)
  6. The 1998 NU-Tennesee (Payton Manning) game follows!!
  7. Didn't work, did it? In fact, if anything I think it made our team play even better. GBR!
  8. Me too! Those kids love Bo. He has their backs all the time and I'm proud that he cares enough about them to take on anybody when they badmouth his boys.
  9. I agree. When we win out we WILL be noticed, especially if we win big at Happy Valley and in Michigan. I think we can beat both of those teams.
  10. My husband thinks that Taylor has injured his shoulder and isn't telling anyone. He said that he didn't remember Taylor lobbing the ball like he's doing this year rather that he threw it more over his shoulder last year. Could Taylor possibly have a shoulder injury? Does anyone else think that he's throwing differently than last year?
  11. I was SO GLAD I was wrong about this! Congrats to our boys!! I hear we're #10 in the BCS ranks as well.
  12. Me too. While all others may discount them, something tells me that we are going to win this game. GO B1G RED!!!! AND I WAS RIGHT!!! Whooo Hoooo!!!
  13. I think it's cool. What's the 'spirit finger' thing? The shoe thing is very visible!
  14. But people are starting to connect his name with the Heisman Trophy. I don't understand why they base the Heisman only on the first few games and why only offensive people can win it. Suh should've won it when he was nominated. If it's for the BEST college football player then he should've won it. Rex should definitely be a contender for next year.
  15. Great video but every time I see Kenny Bell-oh my gosh-that hair! He reminds me of the guy who played in 'Young Einstein' back the day!
  16. It is like Mike Tyson said, everyone has a good gameplan until they get punched in the mouth. MSU's gameplan was good, they did what they have all year, they tried running and they tried crossing routes. They just got punched in the mouth. Its not like the were out there running QB's draws all game. Didn't you think it was weird that they didn't continue to run the ball against us? When they did they got somewhere but the minute they started passing they started to fail. It reminded me of the Wisconsin game. If we would've ran the ball the entire game, maybe we would've won?
  17. It depends on how far the other teams fall. We may only move up one. I would love it if we were in the top 10 but I'm thinking 13 or 12.
  18. Why isn't Rex's name coming up in the Heisman talks!? Good grief! If ever anyone deserved it-it would be Rex!!
  19. and Lou Holtz still speaks jibberish. Yeah but didn't you think it was hilarious when he said, 'Michigan State played STUPID football!' I lol
  20. Wow! The hits just keep on coming. Our old Big 8 rivals upset Texas A&M 38-31!! Whew! What a weekend!!
  21. Wow! I couldn't believe what I just saw!!! Minnesota beat Iowa 22-21! Pretty cool!!
  22. I'll say it again-wow-what a class act you folks are! Thank you! We wish you well in your next games. We're glad you had a good time. I'm sure when we visit you next year on your home field, we'll be welcomed too. GBR
  23. Thanks! What a class act you guys are! I agree with others who have posted-what a great attitude to have after such a painful loss. We've been there-done that many times in the past-especially last year. We look forward to playing you again next year and the years to come. Please continue to come to our board. You're always welcome here
  24. Game Ball: To the entire BALANCED Nebraska Team!
