  1. I don't see it, personally. As knapplc pointed out, the last time Pelini was part of the Big 10 conference was about two decades ago. The last time Pelini prepared to face a Big 10 team was in 2007 against Ohio State. Being from Big 10 country won't do much for Pelini. I was born and raised in Nebraska, but tradition and culture are about the only two things that stay consistent over time. The coaches, schemes and products on the field are entirely different than they were from Pelini's Big 10 days. He might know a lot about their tradition and culture, but that won't help him win a football game in my opinion. Yet knowing about the tradition and culture of a conference is significant IMHO I don't want to beat a dead horse here but look what NOT understanding the culture of Nebraska did to Bill Callahan vs what understanding the culture of Nebraska did for Bo. Bill didn't get it-Bo did. I think that it might, however small, be an advantage to understand the culture and tradition of a conference. I've already heard people saying, 'I'm loving it that we're getting back to 'smashmouth Nebraska football'. That type of football is how we played when we were winning national championships. So, I think that, while it might be small, there IS an advantage in growing up within the Big 10 culture. But like another person wrote, it's not that big of a deal but fun to talk about it. I want to thank you guys for yakking with me and not dismissing my opinion. I appreciate your honesty and the freedom to share my opinion as well. That's one of the things I love about this board
  2. Doubtful, since Bo's last experience with the Big 10 was 20 years ago as a Grad Assistant with Iowa. To put that in perspective, Penn State wasn't even a member when Bo last had regular dealings with the B1G. I guess I'm looking at it like this: Bo grew up around Big 10 football his whole life. It's like kids that grow up in Nebraska and play for Nebraska. Even though some things might change a little, there is an identity (well, there used to be!) that is Husker football. I'm thinking that Bo knows the identity of these teams. He has an inkling of how they approach things. (And I could be TOTALLY wrong in that assumption!) I remember when they announced that Nebraska was joining the Big 10 people were saying things like, 'Well, this is like 'going home' for the Pelini's.' So, I'm thinking that maybe that 'familiarity' with the Big 10 could be an advantage. I guess I don't see us as going into the Big 10 totally in the dark. (And maybe that's not what Enhancer had in mind when he shared?) Does this make sense or am I way off base?
  3. You shared that Nebraska has eight new conference opponents they have to dissect over the summer. Do you think that the fact that Pelini is from the B1G is an advantage?
  4. What a godly young man. He is ever missed.
  5. Helmet sticker to: Rex Burkhead. When I think of Nebraska football 2011 I think Rex. Consistent, quick, reliable. He's just an amazing player. He is the kind of leader this team needs especially considering all of the new freshmen coming up.
  6. I'm with you 'Enchance89' Sheesh! Like anyone can even see what's written there unless they do a camera closeup. There are more important things for the NCAA to worry about than that. I think the taunting rule is going to be very difficult to enforce. It's like someone else said, it will be like the head butting fiasco we had this year. That was a huge bunch of crappola. **THIS WAS MY 200th POSTING WHOO HOO!!!*******
  7. Chris Fowler?? Really?? Blah! Can't stand him!!! Bob Griese-Another Blah! He hates on Nebraska something fierce although he tries not to show it. While I respect Lou Holtz as a coach, his speech drives me crazy (I'm a speech pathologist!) I would love to spend time with him to correct that lateral lisp..!!! Loved Lyle Bremser (sp?) back in the day and loved Kent Pavelka. I hated it when he was let go. He knew all the Nebraska kids..knew where they lived, who they played for in high school. He enriched the NU games so much....As far as National announcers? Keith Jackson is tops. I like those announcers who can pronounce our players' names correctly and love our school. Herbstreit isn't too bad If Brent Mushberger were canned tomorrow I would throw confetti...HUGE BLAH!!!
  8. As someone who works with individuals who have Asperger's Syndrome-No, Taylor doesn't have Asperger's Syndrome. Taylor is a kid. A diamond in the rough. How eloquent are most boys when they're 20 years old and are in the spotlight? He'll get better as he matures. I'm sure he will cringe when he watches this interview say, in 5 years. There will be people who will come along and help him become more polished. I'm more interested in the way he'll play football for us this year. I'm hoping that the rest of the quarterbacks vying for the job will light a bit of a fire beneath him! Could be interesting P.S. If you're interested in what Asperger's Syndrome looks like take a look at Dr. Temple Grandin. Dr Grandin is a famous veterinarian who actually talks about her syndrome. She is a remarkable woman. (Genius! Truly! Many, MANY of the greatest minds of our time had Asperger's Syndrome.)
  9. Gotta love the 'Team' effort! It's very 'Husker'. Well done Gentlemen! Keep up the great work. -ladyhawke~ P.S. I'm sorry for the poster who isn't able to access Huskerboard at work. I would invest in a Smart Phone then you can access it
  10. Hello Mods! (and webmaster) I like the addition of the Legends/Leaders school icons on the headliner of the footbal page. It looks really nice! Well Done! -ladyhawke~
  11. OMG, don't say that. We don't want a re-occurence of the Texas v. Nebraska game of last year. You took the words right out of my mouth!! We can do without the hype! Blah! Just let them quietly come into Lincoln and just play some good football. We don't need the ESPN Game Day truck and all that hoopla!!
  12. So sad. If you would like to 'read all about it' go to the 'Other Sports' section of the HuskerBoard. Very interesting reading!
  13. Ditto (84 OB) That game was the most painful game I've ever watched in my Husker loving life! Blah!! I bawled my head off after that game!!! Also, 2009 loss against Texas. WE WAS ROBBED!!!
  14. They are choosing hockey over football and wrestling. In the article I read it said that 'hockey will be UNO's 'crown jewel' sport. They're also adding soccer and golf (and soccer isn't expensive?) I can see their reasoning but if you have a national championship caliber anything wouldn't you keep it?? Lots of poopy hittin the fan!!
  15. My husband votes for the 'Harvest Bowl' I kinda like that too but my vote still goes to Farmageddon.
  16. I vote for Farmageddon. I wish I still had the picture that someone posted on here when we first heard we were going to the Big 10. It was a picture of a farmer in a field with a nuclear bomb in the background. Genius. If anyone still has that picture could you post it?
  17. We don't think we're the 'Harvard of the Midwest' we KNOW we're the Harvard of the Midwest. I'm surprised this guy still has a job. How immature!! Nothing like hearing an adult have a public tantrum. LOL
  18. Does Barf even write football articles anymore? I thought he was just covering basketball and blogging these days. Yeah, I was looking for Lee too. I really like his writing style and he's smart.
  19. Tressel is safe. Here is the latest: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6194133
  20. The real problem here is that the NCAA needs to revamp their whole violation policy. I think Tressel will be fine.
  21. Huskers.com - NU to Continue Thanksgiving Friday Tradition FARMAGEDDON!!!
  22. Hey mmtodd, That's an interesting way to look at it. Someone else brought up the point that it shows NU's tenacity in staying with the game until the very end. For me, it's just so painful to watch! I remember the day after that game everyone at the elementary school that I worked at were in mourning! Seriously! It's like someone died! I cried after that game! After that game, I said, 'I'm never going to get emotionally involved in a Nebraska football team again!' Yeah right! Famous last words! lol I was cheering them on the very next year. For me, I love the games where we beat the crap outta the other team. Sorry, I just miss that smashmouth football we used to play and love it when I get to see it once in awhile. Anyway, my original question was that I wondered if the Big 10 Network would play any of those games. Thanks everyone who responded. (Didn't really mean to start a fight here-good discussion though. That's what's neat about this board-all of the differing opinions but in the end we all love Husker football!)
  23. Thank You! Yes, I do! That's why I said that originally.
