  2. It’s a thing of beauty to watch Scott Frost teach on the sidelines. He was talking with Martinez after the last 3 and out and you can tell he was teaching.

It was so refreshing vs watching the previous coaches who screamed at players or simply did nothing. GBR!:bigredn:

  4. I’m sure the answer to this question is buried somewhere in the 15 page Gebbia thread but I’m going anyway: Did anyone else hear that Gebbia didn’t want to leave Nebraska but his Dad wanted him to leave. This is sad-nothing like helicopter parents.

      Vince R.

It's a mixture of that and coaches hounding him once Adrian was named starter. Coaches are just as concerned with tracking guys they lost in the recruiting trail for reasons like this. I am sure coaches called him and his dad and explained why transferring now was better.

  5. Can you image what that game would’ve been like if MR & Co. we’re still coaching?

It would've been a butt stomping of the first order!!!

Could I imagine if MR was still our coach?  No, my brain has a self defense mechanism

  6. Hey could someone who is at the game describe the Tunnel Walk. Did they play Sirius?  Scott looked really pumped

    1. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

They didn’t show all of it on tv just when Scott and the team came out on the field.

They started Sirius- then music stopped and broke into a song I have no clue about...scratching my head and asked some younger kids what it was and they did not recognize it either...

@Vizsla1  Nobody near me recognized the song, either. But the sound quality on it wasn't great, and people were clapping and making noise.

Thanks all!  We’ve had our struggles too but by the grace of Christ we press on!

Sentence the adult(s) to the max with full restitution. Same with the juveniles. In any case, Scott Frost should have a say and make recommendations to the judge.

So how do they get a fair trial here in Nebraska? :)

  8. Hey Comfortably Numb, we were just re-routed off of I-76 on our way to Denver. Brush got hit by two tornadoes.  They re-routed us on the outskirts of Brush. Grass flattened and huge trees pulled out of the ground. What s mess!  I hope you and your family are out of harms way.

    1. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

We are fine but we did get golfball size hail with damage to the roof, window screens and trees. You be careful out there by Brush. They always get hammered in that area.

      1) I would like to know what the criteria was if it wasn't "Oh, that's cool"

      2) The pictures should enhance the description - "The view from the stadium shows -- " and it is a night picture or "The outside facade of brick --" and you get a crowd shot.  I think that they liked the renovation retained the original facade, but they did not show this

  9. Knappic-Disaster on the Tour de France today!  Be sure and watch it!

It was an amazing race today.  Riding at 30mph over those granite cobblestones-brutal.  Knappic-I also read a UK publication called The Guardian.  They give a moment by moment breakdown of each stage.

    3. knapplc

      knapplc

      @ladyhawke

Those cobblestones are no joke. Worst part about my trips to France. My feet still wince at the thought of them.

Too bad for Richie Porte. They shouldn't be riding on those surfaces at all, and now he's out due to those stupid cobbles.

Also, I can commiserate with Froome about this. Been there!

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

Knappic-I agree with you about the cobbles. I was surprised that Bob Roll was so adamant about leaving them in while Christian V agreed with us.   I felt really sorry for TeJay Van Garderan.  Bright side is that Greg V is still in yellow for BMC and I was really happy for John Degankolb. Rest day tomorrow!

(Have you rode the tour route in France? A friend of mine did that a few years ago. Very cool.)

  10. Just saw Ant Man and The Wasp. Loved it! Nice little fun break from reality. But! Make sure you stay until after the credits for what comes next!

  11. Husker quarterbacks: Do you think Coach Frost will allow his quarterback to ‘play through the mistakes’ or will he pull them? (I heard this question on 1620 The Zobe this afternoon and thought it was interesting.  I think that as a former q.v. himself, Scott can tell whether a qb is having a ‘bad hair day’ and needs to sit out or the qb is just not getting it and needs to sit down. What do you guys think?

      brophog

How often do you ever see a QB pulled for performance reasons, and how likely is that team to succeed when done? Coaches more or less allow QBs to struggle a bit. The ones that get yank happy rarely succeed.

    3. Husker John

      Husker John

My understanding is SF does not want his players to be afraid to make a play, or to fear failure. I think that's going to be a dynamic positive teaching environment for all our players.

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

I think that will happen as well, Husker John.  Scott wants to keep his players encouraged and learning how to improve their craft at the same time.

However, why wouldn’t a coach pull a qb that is obviously not getting the job done for that particular gam brophog?  There should be no shame in pulling the guy, putting another qb in who also needs to learn and who perhaps IS having a better day.  I’ve seen coaches do that before. Isn’t that what being a team is all about?

  12. Several years ago we used to have a counter on HB that told us how many days until the first football game of the Husker season. Is that still a possibility?

Just curious-how many on HB are in the military or have served our country in the past?

  14. I’m watching The Pride of the Yankees.  Wow. Lou Gehrig was an amazing baseball player. This is probably my favorite sports movie.

  15. O am a Happy camper this evening!  We found a Tony Roma's restaurant here in Denver!  We used to have one in Omaha during the 90's but they all of a sudden closed!  It was so fun!  Great Onion Loaf, baked potato soup and baby back ribs.  BUT! No dirt cup for the kids! Lol   We also found out there is one downtown as well. Good times!

We don't get out to eat very often, as we are busy with kids and their activities.  There are a few locally-owned places in the north suburbs which we try and support.  Our kids are old enough so they don't force us into the Chili's or other big chains when we go out.

    3. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

ColoradoHusk-we have two grandsons (ages 4 and 16 months) so it’s easier to eat in.  We steer clear of the chains too with the exception of Chilck fil a for lunch!

@ColoradoHusk if you know of any locally owned BBQ joints in the Denver area that are good please share. We've eaten at Bennett's Pit BBQ out in the Stapleton area, around Havanna and I-70 I think, and it's been pretty decent but I really don't know of any others. I think it may even be a chain. Would like to know of any really good authentic BBQ places, seems all I'm aware of are chain places and they typically take shortcuts.

  16. It’s Husker Day at Coors Field here in Denver. I bought the coolest hat-It is purple (Rockies colors) with Huskers written in script on the front, Go Big Red on the side and the CR in the back. FUN!

macroboy, the 25th anniversary team intros were very cool.  The crowd went wild on every player.  They showed each player up on the big electronic board. I'm not that familiar with the Rockies but the crowd sure loved them.

There were some Husker cheerleaders there and Herbie Husker was there as well.  Lots of folks wearing red or the 'N' on hats and T-shirts.  Frost Alert t-shirts were seen as well.  Beautiful day for a ball game although we left after the 6th inning. Kind of glad we did as the Marlins hit a grand slam home run in the top of the 7th and scored 5 runs!!

@ladyhawke:  Yeah, that would be a sad time.  My mother lost her father, my grandfather, at a fairly young age.  Some of my earliest memories are visiting a small town Nebraska cemetery each Memorial Day so my mom could put flowers on his grave.  Keep your chin up!

    4. ladyhawke

Thanks Nuance. Several of my friends lost their Dads this year. I remember when my grandpa died (both of them). It was like an end of an era.

  18. Before the CWS started today I was listening to 1620 the Zone and they were discussing who they thought would win-Oregon St.  I thought to myself, "I bet both Oregon St. And Florida will be upset during this series.  I'm watching the Oregon St vs North Carolina and OSU' pitcher is tanking and they just took him out. NC leads 3-1.  I predict Arkansas takes the series.  That would be so cool their coach, Van Horn, being a former Husker coach.

Who are you predicting will win the CWS?

    1. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

And BOOM!  North Carolina upsets Oregon St. 8-6!

    2. ladyhawke

And Florida was upset by Texas Tech!  So far so good. I want Arkansas to win it all!
