  1. Are you for real "Touchdown Tommie"? Do you know what kind of guy Frazier was and continued to be(ask his players at Doane)? A cocky-as-hell prick, way worse than Ganz. That is overlooked because he was a great qb with production and rings. I'm sorry if that is sacrilege to you or others but that is the truth. As far as Ganz goes he was slighted. BC burned Beck's shirt so Beck could go 1-6 with a pick. Hell Beck wasn't worth a damn for NCSU last year as a redshirt soph you telling me he was our best option as a true frosh in our complicated system? Even after Ganz pushed Keller in camp BC refused to give Ganz a shot when our O bogged-down against Mizzou, OSU, and ATM. Ganz would have never gotten a shot if Keller had stayed healthy and you know it. It isn't like this hasn't been seen before. Remember Jackson and Lucky? Jackson was the best guy in practice but couldn't get a sniff til his considerably superior running in games demanded he get his shot. Then when Brandon got a little banged-up he got benched so Lucky could be kept happy.
  2. If he is to improve his draft-status and effectiveness he needs to improve as an every-down back. He still doesn't get the yards-after-contact, bash between the tackles, and find ways to fall-forward like the top backs do. But he is hell in the open-field and catching-balls. He is a decent blocker too. He is a good back, but he needs the power-game to be the back we hoped-for four years ago.
  3. Well stated. A poster on the other board has attended several practices and apparently has had interchange with others who have watched practices he did not attend --- he states that the secondary looks solid, the DL looks much improved over last year (but still shaky, though moving in the right direction), and that the linebackers, in general, look abysmal. So, it may be that Glenn is doing well against a less than stellar backdrop. I hope that that assessment is wrong. Back to the sentiment that we should not expect miracles --- that is clear. Expect hustle and heart and then hope that that is enough to keep us in games. We are lucky to have Sanders back with the db's. Sorry to hear that about the lb's, wish we'd gotten Jimmy Williams back as-well. But Williams would still have an uphill battle getting a bunch of kids, only one of which has really played and none of which had been coached well, up to snuff. These kids have a new system to learn and a lot of fundamentals to be drilled into them. It will take time, but it will happen.
  4. Hope we have some nice recruits in to see this, packing the joint for a freaking Spring-game is quite impressive.
  5. Ya he is innocent til proven guilty, but if this is true we can't take this kid. Mugging goes way past youthful indiscretion.
  6. I'm sticking with my 8-4, this is going to be a tough sched featuring two top10 teams and three more top25. 8-4 will be plenty respectable and make a statement that better things are coming.
  7. I heard they moved-around well.
  8. I got general admission, wish I'd gotten reserved.
  9. I remember that game. I believe we missed 2 field goals and had another one blocked. We easily could have won that game. Yet....we didnt If Buckhalter hadn't fumbled on the 3 Nu wins that game. But if my Aunt had a package she'd be my uncle I suppose Or if the illegal block on Mike Brown at the point-of-attack had been called when Texas got the go-ahead score, still can't believe they didn't flag that crap.
  10. Mizzou did not dominate KU, KU could move the ball in the first half, they just couldn't quite score. About everything that could go wrong for them did in that first half and they still managed to make a game of it. Mizzou deserved the W but that game could have gone either way.
  11. Like Ron Brown said, you haven't done it til you done it. Except for the Alamo Bowl Bo hasn't been a HC so he has to prove something before being ranked above guys that have proven something. I might move Mangino above Brown. Mangino has a much harder job than Brown trying to win at a basketball school away from recruiting hotbeds. Brown can hire elite assistants away from other teams(a MAJOR luxury), Mangino loses his assistants to the big names. Brown is a better recruiter, but he does have an easy place to recruit to. I don't know if Brown could take KU where Mangino did last year. Hard to say, we'll see what KU does this year with a tougher sched. I'd say that list is pretty defendable though.
  12. The total lack of picks and meh coverage mean nothing, Elmo coached those guys up right. Ya I'm But it does go to show that not everybody teaches their db's the same and that we could have been making things happen rather than letting them happen to us. Stupid Big10 1998 defense.
  13. I think it'll depend on what the weather will be like. Seats will go unsold if it is wet.
  14. Kinda wish he was still coaching the whole receiving corps, guy is a great coach.
  15. I'm guessing it looks like Castille will get the #2 spot at rb, otherwise I think coaches would want him to stay at rb. If he can play maybe it will stop us from having to burn a shirt. We don't have much LB-depth so maybe he can really contribute.
  16. I think Texas Tech is going to have problems if they run into someone with a ground game. Where's that offense? Oh, it's on the bench, watching the clock wind down. Hope the JayHawks manage to be the first in a line of many to send them back where they belong. Do you realize just how many starters Tech has back? They have the most in the con. They will be dangerous. Their O will have Harrell and Crabtree back. That O will be killer. The D was improved once they changed DC's. It won't be killer obviously but will be decent. Tech, barring injuries, should be a top25 team and our trip to Lubbock is going to be tough.
  17. Unless a kid is a legit difference-maker I can't see burning a shirt just so a kid can play ST's and get a shade of garbage-time in. ST's don't gain you much in terms of valuable experience. I think BC had somewhat of a "screw-it, I can always recruit more" attitude towards burning shirts. On O I think everyone but Baker(assuming he stays on O) probably shirts. We have a logjam at rb. Too many young wr's in need of reps. We got a couple JUCO's on that side to help-out so I don't know if any other true-frosh will play. On D it is hard to say since we don't really know what we have. Compton is likely, then maybe guys like Whitmore or Dennard. Hard to say on the others, seem like a fair amount would be served with a year in the weightroom first.
  18. The pinnacle is definitely an overstatement, but getting where they got with a KSU program that had been abysmal and had little to work with was still a huge accomplishment for Snyder. Wonder what Snyder would have done at a school with better resources, probably could have made it to the pinnacle. KU won't have a year like '07, the D's loss of their star players and DC will hurt. Plus the sched will be WAAAAAY tougher, adding OU, Texas, at South Florida, and a TTech team that will be Leach's best. But this is still a program that has turned a corner. These players will be working even harder now that they've tasted success and the O should roll. I see them in the Alamo Bowl at 8-4.
  19. Too bad Compton couldn't have graduated early, he could have pushed for a starting spot. Baker at-least appears to be the big talent but he is behind experienced guys, hard to tell how much time he'll get. I just hope everyone that burns the shirt get significant playing-time
  20. Very good point, might give us more access to the deep-south. You know damn well Arkansas was thinking recruiting when they agreed to a 10yr series with ATM with every game played in Texas. Match-ups with a local team can help you network that area, Mizzou has gotten some nice early commits out of their trip to the Cotton Bowl.
  21. Seemed like once BC made a decision about a back it was tended to stick. I remember back in '04 Tierre Green was running quite well for a redshirt-frosh, he had a big fumble against So Miss(on a play where he ran like a madman), and he quickly dropped off the map and into the defense. In '06 Jackson was definitely the best back we had but didn't get the starting-job til well into the season then had it taken-away when he was injured but could still go because BC wanted to keep Lucky happy. I can't attest to Glenn's practice-habits but when he has gotten into games he's run well, the best tough-yardage runner we've had in a while. Considering Lucky is mediocre between the tackles I'd say Glenn should've gotten more carries.
  22. We play one "name" noncon-team per year, been that way a long time and I doubt it changes any time soon. I'm just glad that now we are looking to add some decent competition rather than just pad the rest of the noncon with gimmies. That "Washington and three gimmies" sched we have coming-up is just sad.
  23. If we can get "back" I can see us getting more early commits. But between our low local population and only being an ex-national power we are going to have to work for most of our commits.
  24. My guess right now is 8-4, give or take a game. The sched will be tough. Va Tech is no joke and the 12 will be tough with a good 5 top25 teams and several more than should finish over .500.
  25. I'm not expecting big things on D this season, respectable will be fine considering how many we lost and the lack of coaching they received before. But with the O we should have a respectable D should get us to a respectable bowl.
