  1. Potter sounds like a smart kid that knows what Nebraska football is supposed to be about. Plus it appears he is using some sense, why sell the kid on staff that probably won't be here anyway?
  2. Uh you do realize BC has had both his teams quit on him now haven't you? Dude sucks the life out of team. Uh do you realize we are underachieving big-time yet our coach says he is doing an excellent job? I've seen way better coaches like Stoops and Spurrier take the heat for losses why not BC? I don't think BC gets it and I don't think he is a good, Nebraska-type guy. **** the culture change. BC's other hires have sucked. The only proven-good one left, but I'll give Wyatt the benefit of the doubt. Solich I could give the benefit of the doubt on because he had the staff TO pushed in 02, these are BC's guys. BC's biggest asset is his recruiting and I'd say even that is overrated since his spiel seems to bring in too many soft, me-first types with their eyes on the NFL. I would still support the team if BC gutted the staff and gave-up playcalling but I just don't think he is the guy to get us back. Plus if you gut the staff you can't do a Pedey, you gotta be fair and let them get it together. Which would mean putting-off finding a better HC for a couple more years.
  3. That is something I have considered. Maybe the players that buy into BC's "I'll get you into the league" spiel and are impressed with our first-string beating on the third-string in the spring-game aren't the guys we want. BC isn't getting hard-nosed Nebraska players.
  4. Maybe the guys that buy into BC and his "I'll get you into the NFL" spiel aren't in our best interest. Maybe that we traded-away coaching to get recruiting and it's kicking us in the ass. Word from the raider lockerroom was that BC sucked the life out of the place. Maybe he did it again. Maybe guys are probably sick of BC and Cally calling crap the players know they shouldn't. Maybe players are sick of every loss being blamed on execution. There are a lot of maybe's here but added-up you start to see why players aren't developing and/or going balls-out.
  5. If he really is a guy Neb is researching I think they should just move-on. Bama did go for him back before they hired Shula and got shot-down. USF is Leavitt's baby and it is on the cusp of national-power status I just don't see him leaving unless maybe the NFL calls. Though considering how many college coaches have tried the NFL just to come back, I think we'll see fewer guys looking to make that jump either.
  6. I can't see Mullen from Florida. UNLV snatched-up Urban's OC at Utah and they have gone nowhere. The guy at Bowling Green has done OK, but certainly not well enough for us to be seriously looking. I like the spread option a lot but don't want us to make a stretch just so we can hire a guy with experience in it. The offenses at BG, Utah, and Florida worked because they had Urban freaking Meyer as HC running the show. If we are that determined to run spread-option we'd be better-off with Paul Johnson. He wants to run that system anyway, he just doesn't have the dual-threat qb and wr's. I'd say he has a better offensive mind than Mullen and would quickly become proficient. What about Chris Peterson? Dude has run an awesome offense in Boise that uses some spread. Hell if you want to go with a guy with a proven offense how about Norm Chow. Dude has been money for a couple decades. If I were to take anyone from Florida it would be Strong, but I'd put him after Bo or Foster and about even with Muschamp.
  7. I just can't see us getting Leavitt. Bama struck-out on getting him back before USF came to national prominence I doubt he leaves his baby now. Patterson would be OK. Bo is a solid pick IMO. I like Chris Peterson from Boise. He has run one of the most prolific and balance offenses in the nation for years. He has Boise not missing a beat and maybe even player better since Hawkins left, about the only teams that beat Boise have significantly more talent. Dude flat-out schooled Stoops in the bowl. If we go after any hard-to-gets likel Leavitt, Schiano, or Kelley I would assume we will be putting-out good feelers first. We don't want to this to see another '03 where we (whether Pedey admitted or not) got passed on like a chick with a I-have-herpes t-shirt. Other guys: Norm Chow, Jim Grobe, June Jones, Muschamp, Bud Foster, and Paul Johnson.
  8. THANK YOU! Nate Swift wasn't taught to not give all his effort for the pass that sure should have been caught... possibly for a touchdown. And he sure wasn't taught to drop punts. It is effort like this that should have kids sitting on the bench watching some of the younger players. The coaches deserve much of the blame but these players can't use them for excuses. For someone playing major D1 football you obviously have been playing for some time. If you don't want to put forth the effort sit your a** on the bench and let the younger guys that have the heart and balls to give it their all. That is what chaps me more than anything... players not giving it their all everytime they are in. Where is Niles Paul? He is better than every receiver but perhaps Mo Purify. Why is he not getting his chance to show these 3rd, 4th and in some cases 5th year guys how its done? But it does reflect coaching when you're vets haven't developed and aren't going balls-out. Back in '04 I could give the coaches an excuse but not now. We shouldn't have to throw rookies in, the vets should be out there playing up to their ability. Plus special-teams under Busch have always been mediocre. Ya players should be out there hustling and every mistake can't be blamed on coaching. Sometimes guy are just lame. But the fact that we have way too many jaded, underachievers screams bad coaching.
  9. I was impressed with the way Bo got a team in turmoil ready for the bowl. For me that gives him the edge over other DC's. Plus I think he would bring Marvin back. Knows the Stoops-boys, may manage to bring Mike in. Chris Peterson's O at Boise is well balanced and has been money for years. They very rarely lose to teams of their own talent-level. Dude totally schooled Bob in the bowl. Jim Grobe, dude is winning in a BCS-conference at Wake Forest. That is very tough to do. Brian Kelley from Cinci, a great coach but unfortunately he, rather than Les, may be the next Mich-coach. He'd be a good get but a very hard one. Leavitt and Schiano aren't happening. Both have already turned-down bigtime offers to stay with their babies. Muschamp is a first-rate DC. But I'd prefer Bo because I've seen more of what he can do. Jerry Moore would be a good consideration if he wasn't already old enough to get social security. We need a long-term coach.
  10. I agree. BC can shmooze recruits like a mofo but he is better-off not being a HC. His offense and his personality fit a NFL-OC more than a college-HC.
  11. Before it started looking like BC would be gone I had Bo pegged for the ATM job. The latest rumor is Tuberville but I can see them going after Bo, or how about Bo to Auburn if Tuberville goes to ATM? I think Bo would like the poetic justice of returning to Neb after his nemesis pedey got canned. If LSU's D finishes strong I see Bo getting a nice offer from somebody after this season.
  12. If this is all more than net-rumor the Watson-deal worries me. Bo or whomever should consider current coaches but shouldn't have to take them. TO screwed Frank by pushing the coaches TO wanted. If they are that high on Watson and BC is really gone then give Watson the reigns for the rest of the year and see what the O can do.
  13. I'm not a big BC-fan but I don't think he was wrong in thinning-out the walk-on program some. It is a great Neb-tradition but that doesn't mean we need to take every Tom, Dick, and Harry.
