  1. me too I am looking at the positive aspects of the recruiting class. Such as filling in where our depth is thin and getting some quality players. Until LOI day it is a moot point to say how Coach Callahan and the other coaches have done. I consider myself a "true fan" and have stuck with the skers since 1964 (old enough to know) and heard all the crap from a minor segment of the fan base that didn't like BD or TO. So this appears to be a continuation of the same. GBR
  2. http://journalstar.com/articles/2005/01/17...36278538450.txt http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_pg=528&u_...3&u_sid=1311619 He committed to NU over OU/Miami and others. Should help the OL tremendously for depth. GBR added OWH link
  3. I think a big part of this years D will be which player will step up to lead the team. The JUCO players will hopefully play a big part in filling the gaps left by graduation and leaving for the NFL. Maybe some of the freshmen will prove to be the next Fabian. The main thing is having guys with non stop motors. Like everbody has said, Speed is the name of the game. We had it in the past and can get it again. This year the D should be more cohesive with a stable group of coaches without major changes in philosphy. IMO the D should play the weaker teams much tougher and make a game out of the bigger challenges. GBR
  4. Whoa case in point in reply Colorado, Miami. I think in the OU game Jason White blew out a knee ? Another poiint in case, no one held a gun to FS's head and forced him to take over for the legendary TO. With his experience 15+ years he knew full well what kind of situation he was falling head first into. Like at Eagle Raceway, if ya can't run with the BIG DOGS, stay on the porch. GBR
  5. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=uw...uwire&type=lgns Poor Frank probably had to get emotional assistance to be able to take his measly little 795,000 buy out to the bank. For all of you who feel sorry for him; he just made more money than most people earn in their lifetime. (for getting fired!!!!!!!) Sure he didnt want to be fired but he never proved he could win against any team that had a balanced attack and could stuff his offense easily. Remember 8-9 in the box. In the article he has to scrape by on 200K+ at Ohio. Maybe the FS lovers out there should start a charity drive for the poor guy. I'm not a FS hater more ambivalent than anything. (similar to agnostic just not religious) BC may not be the answer either but I will support him until proven wrong. I don't want to hear about last year except in comparison to the next 4 years OPTIMISM I know for some that will be an impossibility. Sorry, please seek appropriate professional medical assistance. GBR
  6. thanks for the great link. I don't check the OWH site often enough. Spend most of my online time here reading threads. Thoughts to ponder. BC may have been a little shocked at the magnitude of enthusiasm in the state. Bet ya he doesn't anymore. The article I think hit it on the head that BC wants to keep a low profile and reduce the chance of any negative vibes getting out so close to LOI day. Especially since we all know how objective the media is. GBR
  7. I kinda wondered if there weren't team orders for Dailey to not run or minimize the risk. Maybe that could have influenced Joe's mindset. When he ran out of bounds a couple of times instead of diving or running over somebody he didn't seem the type to shy away from the contact. I think Joe could start with BC not worrying so much about a backup. If Taylor learns the system and verbage quickly then may Joe won't get much time. BC may not want to burn Beck's redshirt if he thinks the others will succeed unless Beck is the real deal and tears it up. Damn it's a B_tch waiting for the spring and fall again.

  10. I have got to jump on your bandwagon. I love the fact everyone can discuss the Huskers and have different viewpoints, GBA(God Bless America). But ya reach a point where enough is enough. Rehashing the same old hatred and rhetoric gets stale in a big hurry. Disagreeing on a viewpoint is fine but becoming rabid is counterproductive. I grew up in GBR country and my son was born in COLO (oops) while I was in school. He has inherited my veracity for Husker Football without ever living there. And now by living in So Cal I get a lot of poo from just about all my friends that follow college football. I just smile and point to 5 NC's. The Huskers will be back whether with BC or someone else. I have faith in that and it won't change. The important thing is the State of Nebraska and the people. If they don't change and keep their basic beliefs then everything else is the small stuff. The people of the state and those of us who left and live elsewhere are what makes this so special. What other state has such a diverse population and such widespread support? Anyway, I think the recruiting is turning out pretty spectacular so far. Who knows, maybe these freshmen will turn out to be the equal of the 95 team, think positive. See ya GBR
  11. http://collegefootballnews.com/2005/Column...YearCoaches.htm Just read this about BC. Don't think it tells the whole picture. I still support the team and coaching staff until someone can prove otherwise over the long haul (at least 5 years). GBR
  12. I think the whole tragic event could have been prevented if all the involved had smoked numerous pounds of ditch weed. Of course, that is without inhaling
  13. I just read on Huskerpedia that LeKevin is thinking of leaving this year also. Anyone heard to the contrary GBR
  14. I only got to see the player/coach interviews on Husker.com (the pay portion) so I at least felt some connection with the season. The players showed very little emotion and confidence in the interviews or on the televised games that I received. Granted, the players may be told to maintain some semblance of a appropriate demeanor but very few showed much real emotion and some times with good cause. I think BC at least showed a little humorous side at times and serious side too. I hope to see that change as the "SYSTEM" is digested more next year and the players become acclimated to it and the coaches. But it is like you say too, there needs to be solid leadership both from the players and coaches. IMO the coaches seemed to grasp what needed to be done but nothing happened between the sidelines and the players for a majority of the time. Room for improvement sure and hopefully it will be more apparent in the coming season. GBR
  15. Fantastic, For awhile so many threads have been pretty hate laced. This thread had good arguments both ways at least the last 1 1/2 pages. What Junior, Hoya and others have said is true. Its way too early to judge this system. A few players leaving for whatever reason I believe after a change like this is to be expected. After the 07 season and we go 6-5 yeah I'll jump on the bandwagon for a reeval of the program. Hasn't happened yet lets wait and see. I wish Washington luck in the future and thanks for the good times. Keep up the good and rational posts everybody GBR
  16. Utah Husker Be careful with that emesis, you could aspirate and get pneumonia
  17. I hope for the most part that the majority of the posts are positive about the team generally. Sure, people can get negative when the team struggles but we've been spoiled with so many great teams there is no reason we won't be again. IMO the WC offense or BC's version should improve and become more and more effective if not next year then the year after with all the good recruits maturing. Look at our history. How could anyone not love the HUSKERS whether thin or flush. GBR now and until they throw dirt in my face.
  18. Every poll Ive seen has had the 95 team #1. To humiliate the #2 team in a bowl game that bad just doesnt make the rest of the field compare to the 95 team, not even close. IMO It's paintball season now though Have fun guys
  19. I bet Carroll and Chow were choking on their Grande Mocha Frappacinos GBR
  20. I distinctly remember reading somewhere about "casting the first stone". Granted I was disappointed about how Coach Callahan reacted to the "cheer" squad at OU and hoped he would not react as violently as Bo P. but I was wrong. Sorry
  21. Thanks for all the great links. It is nice to see great recruits committing to NU. All the good 90's teams had at least 7-8 excellent recruits each year plus a consistent O line system. I think the school will return to a prominent power and with this offense more blue chip players will come. IMO
  22. I just read Blankmans column (e-mail group in Yahoo) and he says that definitely M Lucky is sold on the huskers. THESE GUYS CAN RECRUIT GBR
  23. Did you ever see TO or Charley McBride run onto the field and curse out the opposing coach. Class acts dont do that tends to ruin the reputation. All the naysayers really think that Bo is the real deal. I thought he did good except for the three big losses and he beat a mediocre MSU team in the Alamo Bowl. IMO BC brings a new style and some restraint to the HC position. I remember how everyone dissed TO for not being able to win the BIG ONE. REMEMBER THAT. I didnt think so. This is the same soap opera just different coaches. NU will be exceptional again with BC just keep the faith not just team unity Fan unity is important too. It is counterproductive to piss and moan about the new coaches and dont talk about the worst loss since forever look at all the teams we smeared over the years. GEEZ, 60+ points in the Fiesta Bowl Its tough not to score when you are a superior team BC will bring those kind of scores back If he doesnt I cant eat crow I'm allergic to rats with wings.
  24. The odds arent that bad. Not 1.6mil to one. Its kinda tough to listen on the radio but the D needed some motivation or is it just a road thing. I dont know I wouldnt make a good fb coach just make a good fan. Im going to predict that Ill still like the team even if they lose to MU. Those are fantastic odds. GBR
