  1. Damn. Grant Imahara died. He was 49. Sounds like an aneurysm. :(

Saw that... Very sad, he seemed like a great dude and he inspired a lot of kids to get in STEM.

I always liked him. Mythbusters was one of the very best TV shows ever.  RIP

  2. Was it 2012 when we beat Penn State in Lincoln running basically the same pitch play to the right side 25 times?

Man, I remember watching Santos run onto the field late for that goal line fumble he caused. The dude’s head was turned looking back at the safety when the ball was snapped, he just reacted and made a helluva play. Cold game, but fun

  5. If you could have one world-class talent, that you'd never make a dime from, but would just be for you to enjoy, what would it be?

      BigRedBuster

My first thought was golf.  But, I would be making a lot of "dimes" off my friends, so that disqualifies that.

So....I'll go with fine wood working.  I'm trying, and I have made some nice things.  But, there are some people who just have a talent with it that takes it to another level.

    3. Xmas32

      Xmas32

I'm assuming the parameters would include your can give away your talent for free/friends and family can enjoy it so I'd go with being a world class saxophone player.  Pianist is a good call too @ladyhawke.

    4. CheeseHusker

      CheeseHusker

I'd say being a world-class drummer, but I am actually a very good drummer who isn't making a dime from it, so I guess I'm already kinda there.

  6. Who is the last 2020 scholarship for? Per this article, there's one scholarship left (and it cites Nadab Joseph as a target), but it seems to imply that Spielman's scholarship would be open as well.

Who would that be for? A current walk-on given a final-year scholarship for his hard work? A recruit?

    1. Show previous comments  2 more
    2. Mavric

      Mavric

We can only take one more newcomer this year.  The thinking was we were looking for a receiver but Nadab Joseph showed up out of nowhere and now that seems likely.

Spielman's departure opens up a scholarship but it would have to go to someone already in the program so an extra walk-on gets a bump.

    3. HuskermanMike

      HuskermanMike

So @Mavric we could not take a grad transfer wide receiver this cycle? If Nadab Joseph comes here of course.

    4. Mavric

      Mavric

Yes, the limit is now 25 new signees per cycle (class).  We've already taken 24.  So the one scholarship mentioned in the article @knapplc posted above is for anyone new to the program.  We could still give unused scholarships to walk-ons up to the 85 max but 25 is the limit for any one year.

      OH HSKR FAN

Prince was quirky.   I think that turned him off to some.   There was no denying his ability on the guitar.   Some of the great guitarists tend to overplay.   You could argue that Prince underplayed his guitar.

Same here with Dreisbachs. IIRC the tornado got them and another time they had a bad fire. One of those did them in, just don't remember which it was.

Our JrHS and HS basketball and football teams would eat at Dreisbachs on road trip games seems like about once per year whenever we played at GIHS or sometimes Kearney. Their chicken was the best.

  10. How many masks do you have?

I have three, all made for me by friends/family. One super heavy one with Star Wars art on the front and flannel on the inside, one with some new-age looking art pattern that's mostly orange, and one more bright orange one with ties instead of elastic bands.

I forgot I also have a paper mask someone gave me. Not sure what kind it is. It's in the car in case I forget my others. I really only wear the orange print one. It's the most comfortable and quite stylish. :D

Have about 40 cheap disposable surgical masks left and 40ish more washables on the way. Relax, they're not all for me. A few each for everyone in the fam and the rest for my employees at work. The cheapo disposables don't hold up or last very long. Also have 4 N95's with face seal and exhale vents, one for everyone in the family. The face seals were starting to dry rot so I didn't think anyone would appreciate them being donated.  Those are all I had at work when this hit. I used mine a few times early on but am just wearing the cheapos when I go out now. However I shouldn't refer to them as cheapos as I got them on Amazon at about 4x normal cost....but they are all I've been able to get my hands on so far.

Still embedding but just at the compact size.  It will get ready to post and you can see it looks normal but then after the page reloads they post just fine but post in the compact unusual looking size.  :dunno  This issue only happens on chrome however.  I tried it on MS Edge and of course.  Works and looks just fine...

I'll give her the Rutgers joke. That's about it.

So Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Penn State just get ignored, or what?

How has no one yet pointed out that multiple states think that cinnamon rolls and chili is their unique thing? A quick Google search turns up more mentions of Iowa and Kansas than Nebraska. People in South Dakota also think they are special for having had it in the school cafeteria. It's just a weird Midwest thing.

Runza is the obvious answer for signature Nebraska dish. It's just not something you see much anywhere else, but everyone who has spent any time in Nebraska knows damn well what it is.

I was at a 5 day baseball camp in middle school and on opening night testing, I was at the speed gun and tried stopping my arm mid throw which resulted in a spiral fractured humerus. Snapped in half and sounded like the loudest cracked knuckle you could imagine. Ended up discovering a unicameral bone cyst.

Silver lining is that the projections have been steadily getting less grim. The experts doing the modeling seem to think the measures taken so far are going to spare us the worst of it. But we'll see.

Looking like the peak will be late this month. But it's worth remembering that the peak will arrive at different times in different areas. More rural areas that aren't even on the radar right now will probably be the last to be hit, but might ultimately be among the hardest hit.

Ha!  I can't remember if I had tickets to the 2012 spring game or not.  I know we didn't got but I can't remember if I had tickets and sold them or not.  But other than that, I'm in the same boat.

Dad & I were in the stands for both rainouts. We had west stadium club seats for 2012 and could see the storm rolling in from the big west windows.

For Akron, we could see the lightning coming at us from our seats in north stadium.

    3. whateveritis1224

      whateveritis1224

I sat in the stadium during the two rain outs (got absolutely drenched both times, Akron more after they called the game) and also had tickets for this Spring Game. Too bad I printed the 2012 tickets on paper and have no clue where the Akron ticket went. 2020 Spring Game tickets are on my fridge.

My freezer isn't too big so I can't stock up on too much stuff which is both a good and bad thing I suppose.  As long as grocery stores stay open I'm good.  I tend to hit the stores at non traditional hours to avoid crowds anyway.
