  1. Gave the wife a few beers and some new socks!! lol ok ok http://photobucket.com/images/husker/ There are like a million pictures in that link. Care to shorten it down? Or post it in the Shed. Help a brother out! PM me if you don't have the password to the Woodshed. I'll gladly give it to you for a better shot of that. I'm definitely a legs kind of guy.
  2. Well, technically Nebraska and any other school would have to apply to the Big 10 and go through an acceptance process. The best thing the Big 10 could do is let it be known through backdoor channels that "If you applied, we would accept you." I know it's a semantic difference, but it's the way the process works.
  3. If that doesn't tell you that we're moving to the Big 10, nothing will. Anyone who's listened to Tom Osborne over the past 40 years knows how parsimonious he is with his statements. This ranks right up there with the biggest insinuations Osborne has ever given on anything. He's not talking about staying in the Big XII for 75 to 100 years, because as dysfunctional as this conference is, it will not last that long, period. The Big 10 has already lasted 100 years and looks destined to last another. I see only one way to read that statement, and it means we're going to the Big 10. Probably very soon.

    hey

Welcome to the board! Make yourself at home. Be sure to visit our Conference Expansion forum for all of the latest rumors on what's going on with the Huskers.
  5. If you think about it, isn't the Pac-10 about the only "major" conference that could be bullied into taking the Texas Four? The SEC would have none of it. The Big 10 would laugh in their collective faces. The Pac-10 with their laissez-faire attitude just might be vulnerable to being forced into taking all of those schools. I have some buddies who are Oregon fans. It'll be interesting to see how they feel about it in a year or so if Texas and Co. join up. I'm certain the honeymoon won't last long.
  6. Andy Staples from SI sat down with Baylor president Ken Starr (yeah, that guy), and found out that Mr. Starr isn't all that good at keeping information secret. Good article, Andy:
  7. Frosty lived a couple of doors down from me a few years ago, and was there off and on during his time with the Jets and 49ers. He has a great dog, friendly and awesome as most dogs are. Frost was a good neighbor and always had time to chat. Good egg, Mr. Frost.
  8. I think you may be spot on here. Moving McNeill out in the slot and putting another TE on the end could be a signal that we're about to become a running team once again.
  9. The one caveat to all this talk of WR talent is this - we have to have a QB who can get them the ball. I'm concerned that we could be wasting Niles' senior year and yet another year of Kinnie, Bell, McNeill, etc, if we don't get improved play from our QBs in the passing game. It all starts with the Line, then the QB. Plus I don't think we're going to be throwing as much this year.
  10. Which is complete and absolute BS considering they have a bit more important issues to worry about other than collegiat athletics and their governing bodies. Our government cant even operate itself, so how would they successfully involve themselves in the control of college athletics, but i guess this would be a rant for another day. Yes, these things do piss me off. "Government" is huge and has many departments. Being big, they're able to walk and chew gum at the same time.
  11. It depends on how the conferences are set up. If there are four four-team divisions, you could play everyone in your division every year, then one division and half of another every year, giving you nine in-conference games. That would allow for three OOC games, and you would play everyone in your conference a minimum of twice in four years.
  12. That's another possibility. It'll be weird to see how everything shakes out.
  13. According to the US Census Bureau, Nebraska has grown - are you ready for this? - by 80,000 from 2001-2009. Whoop! Here's a discussion about this from another forum. They're saying we're going to lose a seat, too. LINK
  14. But perhaps the field would be level because everyone would be playing "tougher" competition in a 64-team situation. Nobody would be playing creampuff OOC games, and the losses could even out. This is a really hard thing to predict, of course.
  15. I know this, which is why I don't. The 12-step program and the shock treatments really helped.
  16. I get why you say the bold above. I'm talking a lot about brewing and not a lot about serving. The focus of that is the pour-over, which takes 210 degree water and pours it straight through the grounds into the cup, which is then put directly into my hands. It's also heaven in a cup, and the best thing you can have at a coffee shop. That best illustrates my point about the safety issue of giving someone coffee at or near 180 degrees, and it's a real-world, today example. That's why I keep saying that. We're certainly at a point where we're not going to change minds, and we're just mulling over chemistry and types of coffee served. I'll talk coffee all day long, but the conversation is dwindling down.
  17. Notre Dame trumps everyone in college football, even though they've been down for a while. No other school has the prestige of Notre Dame, and that's nothing to be ashamed about. For the first part of the last century, for all intents and purposes Notre Dame was college football. Those traditions die hard. They're slipping, and they're in danger of becoming less relevant if they don't upgrade and update, and possibly hook up with a larger organization like the Big 10, but at this time they are still the Big Cheese of college football, if we're talking solely about fans and prestige and brand recognition. If you think of college football as a pyramid, Notre Dame is right there at the top. Very close behind are schools like Texas, Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, USC and maybe some couple of others. You go down in tiers from there, and Nebraska is, by weight of its historic accomplishments and potential, not far from the top tiers. We're somewhere up there, just not at the top. We'll be there again soon, though.
  18. I like how he spends the first several paragraphs of his article explaining why the diaspora of Rust Belt denizens to southern climes means the Big 10 can market their network to Florida et al, but then turns around and makes this statement (in bold) about Nebraska. Hey, sparky - we have a bazillion alumni spread all over this country, too. Get a clue.
  19. Correct! However, as a Husker fan this gets me excited that we are this much closer to a situation that envolves us moving away from the texas ran conference that we are currently in. and yes I just ended a sentance with a preposition, I'm that excited! I'm not so much worried about the preposition, I'm more worried that you misspelled "sentence" and "involves." But you spelled preposition right, so those were probably typos. And yes, I'm a recovering Grammar Nazi and I notice all that stuff. I've gotten help and I'm much better now.
  20. Oh good grief get over it. I never said we completely made you what you are. The original Big 6 & 8 Conference helped. Never said we made you completely. Fine, leave the Big 12, but don't come crawling back when Michigan & Ohio State run things. There's a bully in every playground junior. I'd advise standing up to them, rather than running. I don't want to get in a fight over this. As proud of your basketball team as you guys are, that's how proud we are of the Huskers. You know what I'm talking about, just reverse the roles and make BB the topic. There are only two schools I'd miss from the Big 12 if we left. Oklahoma, obviously, but we all know that ship sailed 15 years ago anyway. The other is Kansas, because despite how this conversation has turned out, I have a soft spot for Kansas. I am actually somewhat glad that Kansas is the team that scored the most points against us. Better a team that we can consider a brother than Texas Tech, or Texas. I have no rancor for Kansas and I truly feel sorry for the school in its current situation. But I also firmly believe that Kansas will land on its feet. You guys aren't chopped liver.
  21. Thanks, Nexus. I only beat you once or twice a month, so it's nice to get some recognition.
  22. Regardless, there is no truth to the statement that you made us what we are today. We made us. And that's it. EDIT - Kansas' population is 2.8 million people, nearly twice Nebraska's. It proves nothing, but it's important. And your GDP is nearly twice ours as well. Even if you had to split with the Cats, which you didn't because they were worse than you guys for the last 30 years, there was still ample resources to go around compared to Nebraska.
  23. darn it nexus, you beat me to it. Maybe I need to take a typing class so i can alittle faster in that department. Nexus is quick, but I even posted a video! Where's the love?!?!?
