I would also guess that the average IQ of a Northwestern football player is higher than the average IQ of most other teams. Northwestern rarely ever makes mistakes and beats themselves because they are well coached and smart dudes.

You literally just named every coach we've hired since TO who by the way had never been a head coach at a major program. This is a strawman argument. Very few people have any idea who we offered before any of the coaches you listed. You can offer every thoroughbred in the herd, but it matters little if none will come here. Another thing that really needs to be considered here is the fact we don't even know who the thoroughbreds are with the changes of the last couple of years. With the transfer portal and now the NIL, some coaches who were once considered thoroughbreds will fail. Some coaches who were just considered mediocre will shine. College football players have basically become professional athletes. Great coaches in the past might not be great coaches in the future.

I'm really not arguing for or against MJ being the next HC. I just find it odd both him and Whipple come here under our current circumstances without some type of arrangements or promises.

Like I said, maybe I'm out of my mind. I would venture to guess both Joseph and Whipple could have gotten jobs where the CEO was much more stable in their job than coming to Nebraska. Between Joseph being considered one of the better recruiters out there and Whipple coming off of a tremendous offensive season, they both had other opportunities.

Right after the game, I wasn't sure I learned anything. After some time, I learned that the bend but don't break defense really puts our offense in a hole time after time. We let the opposing offense get to the 50 or better which allows their punter to really pin us deep. I learned that our offense is the bend until we break them meaning the QB. We saw it time and time again with Martinez, and I think we saw it yesterday with Thompson. He started the game where he could do no wrong. He finished the game where about everything went wrong. I also learned that we're the same team we've been for years. Once the momentum swings, we are screwed. I will give the team credit. They did overcome the first momentum swing after we lost that fumble. Unfortunately, someone on the coaching staff decided on that awful onside kick to give the momentum back to Northwestern. The onside kick was just horrible. The risk in that instance is just so much greater than the reward.

Isn't this basically the same argument for firing Solich and Bo? We were told Solich had to go so we didn't become mediocre. We are currently below mediocre. Bo had to go because he was going to eventually fall on his own sword due to his lack of recruiting and we were going to be terrible. I honestly can't agree that we would currently be worse had Riley been retained. At some point in time, don't we have to look deeper into the program than just what we see during the games? Who didn't feel a case of deja vu yesterday while watching Casey Thompson?

Maybe I'm out of my mind, but I can't imagine Joseph or Whipple coming here for a one and done season. I would venture to guess both of those coaches will remain if/when Frost is shown the door. It might be telling that Joseph is listed as the associate head coach. I would guess Trev believes the offense will be in good hands with those two running the show. He'll either leave it up to Joseph or assist Joseph in finding the coaches for the other side of the ball. The subject I want to really discuss is conference alignment and where Nebraska fits into it. Let's assume the B1G and the SEC get up to 20-30 teams. At some point in time, there is going to be a day of reckoning. Dead weight will have to be trimmed from the conference. Nonperforming schools will more than likely be voted off the island. Is volleyball enough to keep us in the B1G? The further we fall, the more fans we lose. I can't think the media market in Lincoln and Omaha is large enough to keep us a spot at the table once the super conferences start trimming the fat.

I live in southwest NE. The general consensus out here is that a fully electric vehicle in most cases with current technology just doesn't make sense because of the distances we travel. However, the hybrids make considerable sense. Currently, I am looking for a Hyundai Elantra hybrid for my daughter when she graduates high school. It is supposed to get 56-58 mpg which is 10+ mpg better than the non-hybrid. Taking a fully electric vehicle long distances can be as big of pain or as little of pain as you really want to make it. First, you want to take a route that has ample public charging stations. Then, you want to schedule your bathroom breaks, meals, etc. around the range that you can travel. Most I have talked to depending on the EV take 20-30 minutes to charge or get to at least 80%. If you have a meal schedule around this, it really isn't a big deal. The weather does play a pretty big part I'm also told. The range of the batteries is shorter in colder temperatures. I really don't know with regards to extreme hot temperatures but I would guess the a/c would be a drag on the battery. It's completely doable, and I know many people who have done it. I'd say most are 50/50 on whether they'd do it again. It can be done, but the convenience of gas makes some not want to try it again.

He was once a member of the NRA donating $20,000 to them. He at one time was anti-abortion. The two hot button issues for the D's right now is gun control and abortion. Can they get behind a candidate who at one time was on the "wrong" side of the fence on both issues? Time will tell.

To the bolded, are we just talking about their time while they were at Nebraska? Mike Riley coached in the college ranks for several years. I haven't looked it up, but I find it pretty hard to believe that Bo put more guys in the NFL than Riley did his entire career as a college coach.

I can't imagine the D's would get behind Newsom nationally. He faced a recall in the most liberal state in the Union. He carries a lot of baggage that I don't think would resonate well with many D's across the country. Whether some of the baggage is fair or not, it has happened under his watch. California has lost population under his watch. It's the first time in a very long time. The D's bench is pretty thin. My guess is either Biden or Hillary in 24'.

Didn't he receive the second most votes in history? While people did come out in droves to vote against him, they also came out in droves to vote for him. Dr. Strangelove is correct. The odds of another D beating Biden in a primary just aren't supported in history. Even Jimmy Carter won his primary for the 1980 election. Thus far into his presidency, Biden's presidency is a mirror image of Carter's.

I am of the opinion that if the playoff is expanded then there shouldn't be conference championship games. At some point, there has to be some give and take. If we want more playoff games, then we have to give up other games. Even though college football has basically become farm teams for the NFL, these are still collegiate students. We can't just keep adding more an more games in the season.

Year by year, college football gets closer and closer to mirroring the NFL. We might as well have the playoffs do the same thing. My preference has always been an eight team playoff, but I guess we'll be stuck with four for the time being.

Frost was highly sought after. At the time, didn't we all believe we paid for a new coach to compete against elite programs? I don't in any way shape or form see how that is going to make our football program better or more competitive. We already have or are in the process of building as good of facilities if not better than most other programs. We already according to the rankings recruit as well if not better than most of the programs in the B1G. I might be wrong, but I don't believe Lincoln Riley left OU for USC because of the money. I also don't believe Brian Kelly left Notre Dame for LSU because of money.

To me, the best fit and the best long term success are the same. I went with Lincoln Riley. The Pac 12 is a mess especially with Oregon losing their coach. Lincoln Riley's arrival in the Pac 12 is similar to Urban Meyer's arrival in the B1G. If there was ever a conference for the taking, it is the Pac 12. The biggest flop will be Venables at OU, and it more than likely will not even be his fault. First of all, I've got to think his leash will be extremely short. He was already ran out on a rail in Norman once, and the OU faithful won't give him much time. Second, he will lead OU into the SEC where both winning and recruiting more than likely get a lot tougher.

Two loss Bama won't get into the playoff. There has never been a two loss team make the playoff. However, they just have one loss now. Georgia is undefeated. If Bama beats Georgia, they are both just one loss teams. It wouldn't be shocking to see both get into the playoff under this scenario.
