  1. I've always been critical of the "other" conference's method - especially with the unequal scheduling with the other division. You can clearly be the best team in your division, but get the two best teams from the other division at their place and lose by 1 point each. A team you soundly beat gets nothing but cup cakes in the other division, and end up with a better record Yeah this has never made sense to me. I would like to know how the B1G is going to do this. In division games should be all that count towards being crowned division champs.
  2. No matter what the deal is, the fact that Texas is still getting the lump sum of all of this, the fact that they have their own network, and the fact that they (and so far Oklahoma) are not participating in the Big 12 Branded network speaks volumes. I still say, the Big 12-2 conference will implode within the next five years, with Texas going indy and Oklahoma joining the SEC or Pac-12.
  3. It's almost comical how revered Charlie is today, compared to how badly people hated him in the late 80s. If there had been internet message boards back then we'd have had hundred-page threads two/three times a year screaming for Charlie's head. Aint that the truth!
  4. For all those people that criticize every move that Pelini makes, make note, we can cause a coach to want to leave. Yes a lot of people wanted Wats gone...but I take this quote as saying it effects everyone of the coaches. This isn't only an issue with fans hammering him but also the media. It always takes a toll on their opinions and wants concerning their job. You're exactly right. No other college fanbase out there would have the gall to hammer their coach, and I'm sure there's also no other media that would do that to a coach. The guy didn't say we were the only fanbase guilty of this, only that we are in fact guilty of it. Yeah this ^ I know every fanbase does it and they have the right to. What I am saying is no matter what anyone thinks, the fan base and their reaction to things does cause coaches to think this. They are only human and I can see how some of them only can take so much. I in no way am indicating I think the Husker fan base is more guilty of this then other schools either. If the fanbase's reaction to Watson helped drive him off, then fantastic. It's not like we lost an effective coach. Far more often than not, fans are going to complain about bad coaches. Maybe programs should listen to their fans more. Yep because we as fans know more then coaches or ADs at top tier DI programs. I am as glad as you that Wats is gone, but there are reasons why they get paid the millions and we just watch. Fans go to games yes, but I have to think they are a little more qualified to make the decisions on who coaches and who doesn't. We have a right to b*$#h and moan as much as we want but to think that our choice would pan out better then the guys that do this for a living is just wrong. If they took our opinions on hiring coaches and which players to play we would have a new head coach every year, in some cases multiple times during the same year. Look at Martinez - a couple games into the season you would have seen on this board threads that thought we were witnessing the next coming...a couple weeks later we were hoping that he would leave the team. Hell there were even people calling for Pelini's head after his rants and wanting him gone.

  6. Callahan did say that he thinks this will be one of the highest attended, from a media standpoint, in quite some time. I wouldn't qualify that as breaking news though
  7. Yep today - 12PM. I was hoping to find someone on Twitter that will be sending out updates but not sure who is going to be there. Typically would follow Sean Callahan but sounds like he is at the boys state highschool bball tourney.
  8. Penn State is the appointed cross-division game. IDK if they ment it to be a rivalry game or not, but I am sure it will be a big game every year, as every Big10 game should be. It wasn't scheduled to be the Thanksgiving weekend game though - NU/Iowa was set that weekend when they released the schedule.
  9. This is probably why I like him. I agree with his editorials most of the time. HA!
  10. Great read. This quote here struck me the most. For all those people that criticize every move that Pelini makes, make note, we can cause a coach to want to leave. 11. Best = Shatel Worst = Dick Dick really has pushed me away not only with his coverage of the coaching search but also his coverage of the Huskers basketball team. I used to follow him on Twitter to get updates but I got fed up with everything he said. Never gave anyone any credit for doing anything good. Example - Huskers beat Texas in bball....not a single line/comment. Huskers lose to ANYONE he drops 15-20 different lines about how bad they are and how inconsistent. I get it, they were inconsistent and lost to bad teams, but come on...absolutely nothing to say about one of the greatest victories in recent Husker BBall history? He's just as bad as local Omaha news, never responds to anything positive, it doesn't get the attention. To me, he is definitely trying to become a polarizing figure for his own professional gain. Not saying he should never be critical - but give the damn players some credit sometimes instead of always berating and criticizing. Just makes you seem like a bitter, hateful Hawkeye fan.
  12. Honest opinion, The NCAA needs to take a hard line against Tressel, harder then the one that took against the players involved. I don't agree with the rule, it is their stuff, but its a rule, they all know that rule, and still disregarded it. What Tressel did, by sweeping it under the rug, is much worse. What else has he not reported? Don't get me wrong, I think all schools/coaches do this. Anyone that doesn't is living in a dream world. But Tressel got caught in a blatent lie. To me, 5-6 games total + fine.
  13. They're not including The Vest in the presser if he's in hot water. At worst I could see vacating some wins. He won't step down. That's the thing I don't understand. I thought to vacate wins, the players had to become ineligible. The players haven't done anything more to declare them ineligible. And its not like Tressel pulled a Woody Hayes on someone.
  14. It's his job to head the presser. The fact the JT will be there, usually means he won't be fired. Good point. He'd probably be packing his sweaters right now instead of attending a news conference.
