I think the offense gets an F. 31 turnovers and 27 touchdowns. That's ridiculous. They couldn't get a first down when it mattered and receivers are still running 6 yd plays when they need 7. Defense was salty but always seem to fold late. Wisconsin- in OT, Maryland did drive the field for winning FG and IA managed to get in FG range easily. Probably a few other games as well. Special Teams-lousy punting and no punt returns. Overall-D -Hope young guys that played this year improve a lot.

I don't know why were pissed at the OC. Between false starts and turnovers half the plays he has called haven't even been run. I though the team peaked when they were sweeping almost every opponent. The last 1/4 of the season they were not as sharp, and the injury just added to the slump.

I don't like to criticize players but didn't Grant regress as the season went on? Seems like he was constantly getting the hand-off and running lateral. He had much more success running straight ahead. Note how Rhamir Johnson ran in Iowa. He went straight ahead. you would think Applewhite would have noted this and coached him to hit the hole quickly. Felt like sometimes he made our offensive line worse than they were.

As secretive as this search has been, why meet in a candidates home city. They met with Frost in Philly and no one had a clue until they made a cartoon out of it.

It seems the players are running the team and face it the effort has been crap since game 1. I don't understand how they always love their coach and are pissed when the coach gets canned but every week the captains keep saying it's their fault and not the coaches. Well, perhaps we should start playing guys who want to be on the field and are willing to take some accountability for missing blocks and gap assignments, etc. This may be where Joseph is headed based on his comments yesterday. .

How many pages is this thread going to be by November? I hate the term "splash hire". Frost was a "splash hire". We need someone who can relate to players of today who are getting paychecks bigger than the fans. Somehow Frost in his stubbornness tried to push his 1990's culture on the team cause that's the era him and the fan base are still living in. How did that work out? It's interesting Whipple and Joseph don't seem to have an issue working with today's players. Today's players don't want to hear in the media they have to earn the right to play, or have it announced they were puking in practice. In a way that's just calling them out and soon you see them in the transfer portal. I have no opinion on who we hire cause I have no say so in the matter, but the last 3 guys have not been fully developed coaches. Bo said things were fixable, but were never fixed, so he just got mad instead. Riley smiled and said "aww shucks" and Frost told us every week for 4 years this or that would improve. Well, we all got tired of waiting.

I think the idea is to play to your strengths. Whipple had a Heisman candidate, running the ball would be stupid, so why the concern over Pitts run/pass ratio. Alabama didn't beat GA pounding the rock. Our problem has been trying to play big 10 football. Get an accurate passer, much like Purdue does. Get two or 3 scores ahead and let MN, IA and WI pound the rock all they want and let them have their 8 minute drives and see if they can catch up.
