  1. Umm I've noticed this since the beginning of the season and i haven't been on the board recently but...has anyone noticed our d-line? I can't help but feel that every week when the big sports reporters talk up our d-line (especially our tackles) its as if they've never watched a game. We have no inside pressure from the tackles and it seems like our ends don't get off blocks fast enough on runs to the outside. As far as I'm concerned Cameron Meredith is our best d-lineman.
  2. I loved Bo's strategy on D. Take away a couple of breakdowns and we could of taken one of the top teams in the nation in passing yards and they could of had around 200 yards passing. Larry Asante stepped up big in my eyes. He was sprinting to the ball, using good form, and finishing his tackles. He nearly had a potentially game winning int and had one really good pass rush to force a bad throw. I know this kid has taken alot of shots for his poor performances but I think this game showed us his true potential.
  3. I dont blame the refs. I blame the o-line. 2 back-to-back holding calls ruin a field goal or maybe touchdown drive.
  4. Agreed. If you put together Taylor and Ganz, you'd get something looking like Colt McCoy.
  5. woops didnt see this thread my bad
  6. I dont know about you, but i question Watson's playcalling ability. When we run, we are usually in a jumbo set with a bunch of TEs moving around. Either that, or he's calling a PA pass were Ganz rolls out to find a TE for a 3 yard gain. Mizzou probably could of called "RUN" out 3/4 of the time it was a run before the ball was snapped. I know Ganz is good at rolling out and throwing on the run but hes taking unneccessary hits, and it doesnt look like we are too deep at QB. My solution- SPREAD. Watson needs to call plays like its late in the 2nd with 2 minutes left. We did it amazingly against VT, and on the first drive we did it a little against Mizzou and scored. Next drive, Watson goes back to the same old jumbo run or PA pass. Also, seems after every long pass or first down or whatnot thrown by Ganz, Watson decides to run the ball the next play. When Ganz gets hot keep passins (see Kansas State). Lastly, Watson should keep a RB in for at least one drive at a time so they can create a rythem so they can warm up to the game. But Im still in HS, what do I know?
  7. Offense reminds me of USC at the colliseum. Seems like were playing to stay in the game, not to win it.
  8. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...rightful/080905 http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...rmidable/080905 Softies 3. Kansas 14.3% No. of nonconf. gms. Rec. vs. BCS Rec. vs. I-A non-BCS Rec. vs. I-AA Pct. of gms. vs. BCS 35 1-4 (.200) 15-5 (.750) 10-0 (1.000) .143 Let's zero in on a team that loves to load up on the fluffiest cupcakes of all. The Jayhawks are the only BCS school to have played a I-AA or provisional I-A team in each of the past 10 seasons. Maybe that strategy has something to do with Kansas' lack of nonconference success in the past decade: 1-4, with two losses to Northwestern. Ouch. Kansas does travel to South Florida this season, but the 2008 menu also includes home games against Florida International, Louisiana Tech and Sam Houston State. Bon appetit. 4. Oklahoma State 14.7% No. of nonconf. gms. Rec. vs. BCS Rec. vs. I-A non-BCS Rec. vs. I-AA Pct. of gms. vs. BCS 34 2-3 (.400) 15-6 (.714) 8-0 (1.000) .147 From 1998 to 2007, only Baylor lost more games to non-BCS teams than the Cowboys among Big 12 teams. Those defeats came at the hands of Houston, Louisiana Tech, Southern Mississippi (twice), Troy and Tulsa. At least Oklahoma State was willing to play Houston and Troy on the road, which is relatively rare among BCS teams. Also, the Cowboys did travel to Georgia last season, and they've already defeated as many BCS nonconference teams on the road in 2008 -- Washington State last week -- as they did in the previous 10 seasons 7. Texas Tech 16.7% No. of nonconf. gms. Rec. vs. BCS Rec. vs. I-A non-BCS Rec. vs. I-AA Pct. of gms. vs. BCS 36 2-4 (.333) 21-3 (.875) 6-0 (1.000) .167 The Red Raiders can defend some of their nonconference scheduling as important to maintaining rivalries with former Southwest Conference foes, such as TCU and SMU, and regional opponents, such as New Mexico and UTEP. Playing six I-AA opponents is more difficult to defend, although six other Big 12 teams had as many or more from 1998 to 2007. Tech plays two I-AA teams this season, although its opener against Eastern Washington was added because Tulsa backed out of its contract to play in Lubbock just seven months before the teams' scheduled game. 8. LSU 17.6% No. of nonconf. gms. Rec. vs. BCS Rec. vs. I-A non-BCS Rec. vs. I-AA Pct. of gms. vs. BCS 34 4-2 (.667) 22-2 (.917) 4-0 (1.000) .176 The Tigers, winners of two of the past five BCS national championships, have played just three road nonconference games against BCS teams in the past 10 seasons. They're 26-2 against non-BCS foes over that span, with the losses coming at home against UAB and Houston. You might remember when two of our top 10 bullies squared off in Baton Rouge in 2004. The Tigers, coming off the 2003 BCS national championship, escaped with a 22-21 win over Oregon State when Beavers kicker Alexis Serna missed three extra points. Toughies 8. Miami 51.2% No. of nonconf. gms. Rec. vs. BCS Rec. vs. I-A non-BCS Rec. vs. I-AA Pct. of gms. vs. BCS 41 14-7 (.667) 14-1 (.933) 5-0 (1.000) .512 Although the Hurricanes have been entirely unimpressive the past two seasons, their body of work over the first decade of the BCS was among the nation's best. We'll focus on their 14-7 mark against BCS foes outside of conference play. Miami has locked horns with Colorado, Florida, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Washington during that span. However, the Hurricanes have played five games against I-AA opponents, the most on this list. At least they haven't lost any of them. Miami's lone defeat to a non-BCS team came against East Carolina in 1999.
  9. ECU W/L Since Skip Holtz Became HC 05- 5-6 no bowl 06- 7-6 lost to USF 24-7 (lost to WVU by 17) 07- 8-5 BEAT #24 Boise State 41-38 (lost by 10 to VT) 08- 2-0 beating 2 ranked teams ECU Before Skip Holtz 02-04 - 7-28 What I am saying is ECU didnt come out of nowhere, and that Skip Holtz is one hell of a coach.
  10. Last years score to that game 17-7. ECU has been the real deal for two years now thankls to Skip Holtz.
  11. Agreed. Larry does have his moments but had too many missed tackles against SJSU. A big disappointment, he looks fairly athletic.
  12. Seems to me like Lucky dances in the backfield too much. I also agree on the poor offensive line play too.
  13. Not getting some of the recognition he should be. This kid is our Wes Welker and probably the most consistent player on offense so far.
  14. Good game SJSU, you sure earned my respect. (Although you lost some when Ganz took that late hit out of bounds and then the shove, where's the flag?)
  15. Dont be confused by ECU beating Va Tech. Last year the final score of that game was 17-7 and VT only pulled it off in the final quarter which was by no means a close game. VT wont be a pushover by the time they get to Lincoln. They have a couple games to rebuild some of the confidence they lost.
