  1. I don't understand why people think the triple option was the bread-and-butter of TO's offense..

On a typical 80 yard drive under TO you would probably see the option three, MAYBE four times, with at least six running plays and two or three pass plays.

If we're talking about Solich though, I can understand that argument.

Unless Ahman Green goes the distance with the option on the first play from scrimmage against "war drum" Neuheisal (might have been a sweep. A little groggy after last night)

Evidently this is a contest now... Nebraska at #3?! Whatt?!

I don't attend Nebraska, so all of you who do send out group invites to your friends, get everyone in that group.

    Notre Dumb - @ #29

Miami - 130 people who can work a computer @ #50 (To be fair, they think facebook is the name of the binder that has all of the wanted posters of former Hurricanes located in the Post Office)

  3. Uh, I haven't researched it yet--bro--but I think they probably had most of their players returning. Will look into it when I get some time.

    zE bOp -

I hope you didn't get offended by the "bro". I was honoring your signiture "Don't taze me, bro" Thinking about that video still brings a smile.

Like you I am hopeful for a BIG jump in the defense - every aspect, intensity, ranking, turnovers. I was wanting something to hang my hope on other than :koolaid2:

  4. More on Conradt

    koco.com

Apparently he works for the University of Texas.

How can we be sure you did not download a template of an OKC television station's website and post a phony article?

    :dunno

"Trust, but verify" - Ronald Reagan

"If its on the internet, it must be true" - Texas radio stations

  5. WV went from about #107 in D in '06 to the top 15 or so in '07.

Do you know the background on this? Were there a lot of injuries, many underclassman, difficulty in adusting to a change in D-schemes in '06? Or in '07 did they get a couple a great recruits/transfers, a KU-esk schedule, a Cosgrove-clone get fired in the off season?

I want to know if there are any parallels to our situation? Don't give me false hope, bro

  6. Forgive me for the stupid Question, but why is there a difference (Public figure vs. Private)?

Seems that Both parties would be injured.

I think it comes from common law - medievel England.

Its like getting hit in the face.

Its assault if you are walking down the street, minding your own business, and someone cold-c$%ks you.

Its legal if you are a boxer. You chose to enter the ring and you should expect someone might pop you one with lots of people watching.

  7. I've got you guys at 8-4 possibly 9-3. Virginia Tech, @ Oklahoma, Kansas, and @ Texas Tech seem to be the only games that seem a tall order. The defense would only need to become marginal for Nebraska to be a contender again in the Big XII. I think you guys have alot of reason to be optimistic about your season.

    What about Mizzou?

I have a hard time believing in that program. Duplicating a year like they had last year is difficult for any program, but Mizzou has zero history of handling success. I think they are going to be a disappointment this year. I certainly don't mean to imply they are an easy W for Nebraska though. I consider it a toss up.

If Missouri "has zero history of handling success." won't that mean the KU "has zero history of handling sustaining success."

  8. It's simple, they define an initial "champion" of college football. This team - which they initially defined as the '71 Cornhuskers - would be the first holders of the so-called "championship belt." They hold it until they are beaten in a game, upon which the belt goes to the next team. And so on.

    It's a cool idea.

Did you look at the link and see the belt winners? I would say its interesting for non-conference and bowl games, but conference play gives weird results

  9. ^^ Haha! :clap Now that's a funny quackin' clip Hack.

Who do you guys think were the other schools that Osborne was courted by after '97?

I can't believe that he went and interviewed with Colorado. I never knew that! Also, he said that was the only other school he flirted with in his career, but wasn't he very very serious about going to Michigan St. and almost did if he hadn't of had a meeting with his staff? I don't know, just thinking out loud.

Overall though, this was a great article. As long as teams don't look forward to playing us I'm happy!

Believe it or not, it was kind of a pre-emptive move before he was FIRED! People were up in arms because NU kept losing to Oklahoma. I remember reading Sporting News (no internet then) and they had it as a done deal. Must not have talked to the aquarium guy a la Pelini.

  10. …and the only team whose state fought on the side of the South in the Civil War (those solidifying their “loser” image).

Lawrence, KS has a high school named "Lawrence Free State High School"

Double dog dare Columbia, MO to name a high school "Columbia Slave State High School"

  11. Well in 1981, Nebraska won 17-3 in Lincoln.

In 1982 Auburn, added freshman Bo Jackson and Nebraska won 41-7 AT Auburn.

    Soph. Bo Jackson in 1983?

I'll take Sr. Heisman Trophy winner, Mike Rozier...do they really think they could've closed the gap in 1983?!

:yeah We would've beat them in 07 also if we had a kicker who could make a 45 yd Field goal junior high coaching staff

  12. Conference games tend to skew the results. Once confernce play starts it is impossible for another conference to get the belt. If one strong team in a weak conference gives a false sense of strength (So Cal in Pac10) or a weak team in a weak conference gives a series of revolving door (mats) getting the belt. (Baylor, Rice, TCU in the SWC) Baylor? You're talkin' Baylor!

  13. My definition of a rivalry: A coaches job is safe after a 4-8 record as long as one of the 4 wins is the rival. Maybe not quite but its the general idea. Annual event and the feeling must be recipricated. (sCrUmptious: both teams feel the same way)

I don't think NU has a true rival currently. OU - UT are a rivalry, OU - NU was secondary for OU. MU - KU are a rivalry, NU won't beat out KU or MU there.

  14. A Fantasy Football web-site I go to FFToday gave a rundown about the 2009 NFL Draft RB class and listed Marlon Lucky as one of two elite prospects along with James Davis of Clemson. This site is one that does a lot of research for their articles and usually comes up with pretty reliable information. I thought it would be a good read for us here on the board.

    http://fftoday.com/articles/idptony/09draft_rbs_v1.htm

But how many stars does Lucky have?

  15. "By he own admission he was holding back last season."

i don't know why anyone would do this, it speaks poorly of his character, IMO. now, foolishly, he only has one season to get it right and bust his butt. good luck to him, he needs to leave everything on the field this year.

If I remember correctly, he said it was so he could last the entire season.

My only problem with that is people in the NFL are going to wonder if he can actually last an entire NFL season?!

Ask the Chiefs about Larry "Diaper boy" Johnson
