  1. If you want to put down this year's Husker OOC schedule, go to the Pitt Panther message board and leave a message for the guy who made it. For future scheduling, we put our trust in TO
  2. I really feel for you, but at least you must have saved the computer. Next time, buy a house on top of a hill (and next to a bar)
  3. Don't tell me Colt isn't a Sr. Colt is a Jr. Nice research on the qualifications for the award. I said before IF that was the only qualification, it was a joke, but now that I am enlightened as to the off-the-field requirements, I will say that this is good for Joe. But shouldn't we expect, like Bo says, that college athletes show "character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities" anyway as part of the "job requirement"? And in light of the off-the-field requirements PLEASE don't tell me any Miami Hurricane QBs won the award.

Are you kidding me?? Or Ressing Works out to be about 20% of starting QBs in NCAA division whatever-they-are-calling-it-this-year. Didn't look it up but might be 40-50% of all returning starting QBs Just did a quick spot check on the internet - these are all seniors! So 100% of all returning starting senior QBs? If so, what an honor :sarcasm
  5. But what if you beat Mizzou along with every other north team, and yet Mizzou still got the recognition as the best team in the north division?
  6. A story I read in the Lincoln paper back in the early 90's: The writer was interviewing one of the people who assigns stars to HS players. The writer mentioned that TO was interested in a certain player. The guy said, "Oh, yeah?" Walked over to the board and raised the guy up something like 6 slots. Granted this was when rating was in its infancy, but it shows the arbitrary nature of the job. On the other hand 7 vs 50 does show a HUGE gap, even if they are off 50% (flip a coin)

  8. Currently the division champion is the team with the best conference record. I can't remember any controversy over which team should go to the conference championship game, but I see a possible problem with the unbalanced schedule. Take a North division team. Let's call it N for the sake of argument. The team blasts every other North division team by at least 25 points. But they play Texas, OU and TT. The team easily beats TT at home, but lose to Texas and OU at there place by less than 3 pts in multiple overtimes. Conference record: 6-2 and also undefeated OOC, so a 10-2 record. Another team from the North, lets randomly pick M, loses big to N, but barely squeaks by all the other north teams. They play Baylor, OSU and AM, barely winning each game. Conference record: 7-1. Winning 1 OOC, so an 8-4 record. Which team should represent the North? Current rules as I understand it would be M. But are they the best team in the north? Unfortunately these days, what would ABC think? I think the best record in your division should go to the championship game. Tie breakers: head to head, common other division opponent, then conference record. Thoughts?
  9. I think maybe you're a bit too negative on the Jayhawks. I think the South Florida game could go either way, but I don't think they lose at home to CU. I think the TT game could go either way with the win swaying towards KU as again it is a home game. Right now, I think you have to say they have the edge in the NU game as well even though it's being played in Lincoln. I think they will definitely lose to OU, Texas, and Mizzou. I think they easily could be a 3-5 loss team in 2008, but I would be astonished if they lost 7 games this year. Looks like last year, doesn't matter what we do on the field. If we do well this year, everyone will be "down". Never mind being the only team to Beat A&M on the road, Va tech at a neutral site, CU in Boulder (ask OU, not easy), Oklahoma State on the road, K-State in Manhattan, 7-1 in the Big 12.... Facts Don't Matter, we did lose 2 good Junior players and a great defensive coordinator, but not much is changing. If Reesing is Healthy, I look forward to another years of excuses about another good KU team (Not banking on anywhere near 12 wins, but I see the deulsions are all in the negative direction, and I have a few hater bets out already...) Just saw on Kansas City TV that a defensive lineman quit the team because of a bad back and a cornerback was kicked off the team for "violating team policy" (which is often code for 3rd offense positive drug test, though I have no knowledge that this is true in this case) So Jayhawks are down 4 underclassmen in addition to __?__ seniors no longer elligible Let me go ahead and set the record straight: Two Kansas University football players have left the program, the school announced Tuesday. Senior defensive lineman Todd Haselhorst said he left the program for "health reasons." Junior cornerback Anthony Webb was dismissed for violation of team policy, according to KU football spokesman Mike Strauss. Haselhorst said: "I've always had stomach issues since I've been here. I've been throwing up every day during conditioning. It's that and I've been having back pain recently and I decided to hang it up." Haselhorst said he plans to attend classes at KU during the fall semester to complete the 12 credits he needs to graduate. He said he will attend all home football games "to support the team." "I've had a lot of fun in the program and they've given me some great memories," Haselhorst said. "It's a great bunch of guys and great coaches and there is no doubt in my mind they'll have success again this year if they do the right things, if they practice hard, work hard and do everything 100 percent all the time, like we did last year." Here is the deal haters-CB Anthony Webb doesn't even play and was barried on the depth chart and Todd Haselhorst sucks. He wasn't listed as the starter according to the coaches because a Redshirt freshman (Richard Johnson Jr.) beat him out. No worries from Jayhawk nation. This is for the best. Not hatin' - I just repeated (almost word for word) what the KC TV sports guy said. You gave a lot more detail. If I was hatin' I would have posted the unmentionalble things that happened to the stuffed Jayhawk doll at Pinkel's golf charity that was aired on the same news broadcast. (I didn't know you could waterboard a stuffed toy)
  10. Well, those 2 games you refer to Resing in were vs. 2 of the top 8 teams in the country, and he was a first time starter and a Sophmore. I would look for improvement in those sorts of games. Also, he was hurt pretty good vs. MU, and less, but still hurt vs VA tech, his speed was way down from normal (which he needs to escape). We probably won't outdo MU this year, almost everyone back and they really good, but that is why they play the games. I think in 2 years it is our time, when we will be at our best. No question Reesing can get better, but he was pretty good for a Sophomore in his first year starting, as he was a redshirt last year who got his shirt yanked and was thrown out there (Beat the Buffs for us)... Anybody else notice that the Hokies and Jayhawk fans "flock" the the NEBRASKA discussion board to talk smack to each other?
  11. I would have to say that Colorado has the toughest schedule of any team of the North Division: West Virginia, Florida State, Texas, Kansas, and Missouri...just to name a few of the really tough teams. Seems like a tough schedule to me! Throw in Montana State and it would be a killer.
  12. I'm going to be a KS fan for at least a couple more seasons just because of my cousin's Son and Daughter competing there, but also because it makes our conference stronger. They could be better next season and still have a worse record..I'm guessing 3-4 losses prior to Bowl season. I hope they continue to improve in the long run. My SON goes to KU (in state tuition and academic scholly) and WE BOTH are Husker fans forever. Three years ago he went to the game in red body paint. (Last year he was fortunately out of town)

  14. He was only comparing non-conference opponents - the ones you can pick each year. And Mangino thought he was getting 4 cupcakes I think NU used to have the best formula. One fairly easy, one traditional power and a couple of BCS conference moderates. I think NU is returning to this. Teams that overload their schedules with perenial powers are crazy. I have no problems with weak teams following the Bill Snyder method - he was successful scheduling Division III, high school and coed flag football teams, as long as they up grade their opponents as they become stronger and not whine when they get no respect if they don't up grade. And remember the schedules (except for teams that duck out) are set years in advance. You don't control who your conference opponents will be. But there was a strong indication that SMU, UMass, directional Washington would be extremely weak. Even Nevada only recently has become a moderate challenge.
  15. Gny. Sgt. Hartman, Drill Instructor: "Anybody know who Lee Harvey Oswald was? Private Snowball?" Snowball: "Sir, he shot Kennedy, sir!" Gny. Sgt. Hartman, Drill Instructor: "That's right. And do you know how far away he was?" Snowball: "Sir, he was pretty far. From that Book Suppository Building, sir!" Gny. Sgt. Hartman, Drill Instructor: "Alright, knock it off."

  17. He did NOT admit he needed media training. A TEAM OFFICIAL said he needed media training. He might still be delusional in that he "is an excellent coach in every area" or whatever BS he said. How many people after six years at job need additional training to do one of the most important parts of their jobs?
  18. The winner is: Jimbo Steim
  19. One guy's opinion (ArmchairGM.com) It must be true. It was on the internet. Kansas FIU, August 30 Louisiana Tech, September 6 @ South Florida, September 13 Sam Houston St, September 20 One great game against USF doesn't make up for another season of scheduling down in every other game. Kansas St North Texas, August 30 Montana St, September 6 @ Louisville, September 17 Louisiana Lafayette, September 27 The Wildcats get a spot here for wussing out of an opening game against Fresno St, not to mention scheduling down in three games like their Sunflower State rival above. Texas Tech Eastern Washington, August 30 @ Nevada, September 6 SMU, September 13 Massachusetts, September 20 The best Texas Tech team in years will be playing one of the weakest non-conference slates. Embarrassing and sad. He also had NU vs VTech as the 5th best non-conference game.
  20. 6-man EVERYONE is elligible. Imagine Rimington out for a pass against some poor safety?
  21. What??!!!! Hunter Teafatiller isn't on the list for tight end . . . . oh, never mind.
  22. Michael Your blog: "Fishing and Football" Why isn't this "Football and Fishing"? Where are your priorities?
  23. Stay in Lincoln - I-80 is bumper to bumper on game days. I always wonder what an oblivious traveler thinks going from Chicago to Denver when then the traffic hits on a Saturday morning between Omaha and Lincoln.
  24. At the time that I read the article on the Tulsa paper website there were 18 comments to the story - 9 from Husker fans giving respects. Remarkable
