  1. Chin needs to visit the Steelers and Ravens in the off-season. Both run a 3-4 and are traditionally two of the best defenses. Some simple zone blitzing would really be beneficial. Especially with Iowa who uses tightends over the middle often.
  2. And what exactly is this culture? He's a young inexperienced coach. Maybe these kids see a culture that's not working and being a part of.
  3. Haha the flip side is they could have zero wins. If PSU's OC doesn't go full retard in the red zone, we're looking at a goose egg right now.
  4. Jurgens has pictures of Frost with a sheep. There is no other excuse I can come up with why Jurgens still plays.
  5. Iowa had a few 3rd and 2's today where one corner played press coverage and the other was 12 yards off of the LOS. All I could do was put my hands into the air lol Edit to add we had two deep safeties in said situation.
  6. Something that has annoyed me about Frost is his issues with retaining kids. With that said, Miami area football players seem to be exceptionally entitled.
  7. The third season is too quick for a program that isn't royalty anymore. We're not present day Alabama, Florida, etc. Hell, we're not even Oregon. This is a rebuild. Don't get me wrong, I'm as frustrated as the next guy and I called Frost a failure last year. But the reality is we're not going to get the players we need by firing coaches every three years. Those early firings force us to start over with upperclassmen leaving for other opportunities. We gotta be stable for at least another two seasons. If it's still this bad, then we jettison the whole staff.
  8. Moos' primary job is to bring in money and build facilities. It appears he is doing exactly that. He brought in Frost which is exactly what we all wanted. He's safe and rightfully so. Frost is safe because his buyout is far too large and firing coaches too quickly isn't a recipe for success. Let's just hope these young coaches are humbled and begin looking at their shortcomings.
  9. They associate Frost with Helfrich and Helfrich let the program slip. Of course, they forget that Helfrich didn't cheat like Kelley but I digress...
  10. Then we need to bring Chinander a mentor to teach him what to run in specific situations. There is no need to have 2 deep safeties against Iowa. It's not that they're just a run team, it's they can't throw very well either. Make the adjustment. Overwhelm their offensive line by outnumbering their blockers on third and long. That earned most of my yelling today. Frost and Verducco need to teach Adrian to trust his receivers more. He seems to only throw to guys who are wide open. Throw balls to guys who are one on one and make them make a play. You can also "throw guys open" with back shoulder throws. He had a throw today on third and long to Warner that was woefully short because he was wide open.
  11. This scheme looks nothing like Oregon because we don't have enough speed on the field and the QB isn't reliable enough. Chip Kelly's offense started with fast backs who would get 6, 7, 8 yards on first down and open up the passing game. We don't have those backs yet. So I want to remain patient, but I'm also reminded by my Duck fans friends that they celebrated when Frost left.
  12. Our corners play 10 yards off the LOS. It's no wonder they complete passes.
  13. I actually did at that moment. I liked what the offense was able to accomplish for most of the game. Martinez had a lot of time for most of the game, but eventually Iowa sent 6 against our 5 and Martinez had no chance.
  14. The offense looked better today. I'd like to see Martinez throw the ball downfield to his receivers even when they're not wide open. On one on one situations, let your WR make a play.
  15. It was better in the first half. Then half-time adjustments happened and you know how well that works out for us.
  16. Around here, there have been plenty of articles blaming the lack of TV money for the conference's woes in both football and basketball. That money pays for things including coaches. Obivously better coaches want more money and that's elsewhere at the moment. The downgrade of UNL's baseball program is a bummer. I enjoyed following my Beavers and Huskers on the diamond. OSU's baseball program is following Nebraska's with the retirement of our coach I fear.
  17. The Pac 12 has money issues as the commissioner has done a terrible job getting TV contracts like other conferences have. The Pac 12 Network is not on Directv and that has been a big issue. Pre-covid, the Pac 12 gave each school 29 million. Compare that to the 56 million Nebraska got from the B1G.
  18. You're right. Let's go back to the conference where a bunch of members considered ditching us and a few other schools for the Pac 10. I wonder where we'd be if Texas, OU and the rest left for the Pac 10? Not exactly the lot I want to be a part of.
  19. Two of those turnovers came on fourth down. Illinois was going to get the ball anyway. Let's not make excuses for the defense. It's not good. Illinois had a lead in their previous games for a grand total of three seconds prior to this weekend.
  20. I'd settle for competing for the West title. OSU hasn't been on my radar.
  21. Turns things around? We can start with a much more aggressive defense with press coverage. I'd like to see just how much talent our corners have instead of letting them languish 10 yards from the LOS and making tackles after a simple pitch and catch. On offense, I'd like to see more sophistication. In short, I want the Oregon offense. The real one. Begin by establishing the run and build from there. We start by getting a guy who can snap the freakin' ball into the hands of the QB. It feels like we've been dealing with timing crushing snaps forever. Teach the guy to do it right or bench him.
  22. That was also his second season playing with kids who weren't recruited to play a pro-style offense. it's funny to listen to people who say give Frost a chance when they didn't say the same for Riley. With that said, we're stuck with Frost and I hope he can turn things around.
