  1. If he reported it to the administration (the people who should have handled it appropriately and understand their legal obligations more than Paterno), and then was unaware of their handling of the situation, I figure Joe Pa comes out the other side of this. Without more information regarding Joe Pa I won't pass judgement. Thank god those more deeply involved in this ARE getting removed.
  2. Our DL would be the strong-point of this team. It would be the main reason for victory. Imagine trying to deal with 4 lineman who all deserve double-teams?
  3. Remember that Stein had an illness which really put a damper on his physical development. Who knows the long-term impact.
  4. I got my tickets off of Craigslist. Face-value, great seats. It is such a small venue that most seats are great seats.
  5. Ball was playing alongside solid backs as a true freshman if I recall. He's the real deal regardless of the line.
  6. Rex plays with more heart. Ball is more athletic. I'd take Rex. The big thing to consider is this: Ron Dayne Anthony Davis P.J. Hill John Clay Montee Ball Hell Brian Calhoun would probably be the least noticeable on that list and yet had the best individual season in the 2000s. When will this spring of Heisman hopeful runningbacks dry up for Wisconsin?
  7. I think Kansas is hampered by the other regional schools. MU, NU, Iowa and Colorado steal too many of the recruits in this area. It's really an issue of supply and demand. The demand by the other institutions for quality football players is already more than the supply and Kansas is left with scraps. Moving to the B1G will not necessarily chase any of the small number already here to them.
  8. LARGE playoffs are a problem. Small playoffs are not. Especially in a sport such as CFB where you do not have a chance to play other subsets of the population. We are a segmented set of groupings and there is no possibility for reconciling this with the short OOC schedule. We are the one instance where playoffs MAKE SENSE. It has a possibility of producing one or two games a season which are meaningless, but it supports the integrity of 99% of regular season games. A small cost for eliminating instances such as our current one. Even a +1 system would eliminate any discontent save Boise this year probably. As well as that in 2003.
  9. Louisville has come to a mutual agreement with their OC to part ways. Quarterbacks' Coach Watson is taking over play-calling duties effective immediately. He will continue in this function through the remainder of the season. Husker nation chuckles.
  10. Most younger people I know tailgate before and hit up the downtown after. Embassy Suites is usually packed after the games. On the earlier kickoffs (2:30 or 11:00) people tend to sit around there and watch the other games on the t.v.s. It's a bit pricey though and you'd probably do better to hit up the typical bars. Barry's is going to close (unless a new owner keeps it the same) after the season and has been ranked as one of the top places nationally so for history's sake it would be worth a visit.
  11. I got to thinking, looking at the schedules and with a good roll of the dice for Stanford and Wisconsin, we could end the season with a slate of undefeateds the world has never seen before. Boise State - Easy Street Oklahoma/Oklahoma State - Almost assuredly one will make it through LSU/Alabama - The SEC Equivilant of OU/OSU Clemson - A struggling Georgia Tech and South Carolina away from a shutout Wisconsin - Contain Dennard and manage MSU's defense and they appear to be there Stanford - Meat of their schedule ahead, but still a punchers chance Now, speculatively, we can assume that the Big XII and SEC are poised presently to pit their undefeateds. Without loss of generality: NC: LSU vs. Oklahoma The Rose helps us narrow down the field: Wisconsin vs. Stanford And we get the bowl with first/last picks to snatch up the cinderella Boise, and then end up waiting until the rest are picked before having to take the Big East winner.... Boise State vs. WVU Now you're left with a possibly undefeated Clemson team that could have a number of possibilities for opponents. I think that given the chance, Alabama-Oklahoma State would be picked by a bowl to set up a series of Big XII - SEC matchups. In this case I'd imagine possibly Oregon. Regardless, it appears that Clemson will have their hands full. In the end, with this setup, you're almost assured of three undefeateds at the end of the season: Boise & Winners of two undefeated matchups Finally the push after the Auburn fiasco to get this mess moving in the right direction?
  12. *Obligatory 10 posts concluding, yes the Watering Hole wings are awesome*
