  1. I don't know. I would have to say that if Green is the legit #2 then he's not red shirting. I can't imagine the coaches keeping him out if he can contribute. Then again, they barely played Witt last year and he should have gotten some reps as the #2, so who knows. sorry, i disagree with that observation, Ganz was the leader of the offense and he deserved to start every game, including some when Clownahan was here. Witt just got impatient, something (patience) Ganz learned early in his career. i will always respect Ganz for "hanging in"............. Not only that, how many games down the stretch were such blow outs in our favor that playing Witt would have been even remotely sane? Come on guys, this argument is ridiculous. If Green was really THIS good, do you think Shawn Watson would have made the comment that "It's going to be awful hard to unseat Zac right now" 2 practices into fall camp? I agree with the above scenario, and Bo and Shawn will explain to him that is in the best interest of the program and himself. Sorry guys, but nobody is bigger than the program. Nobody. Also, the best QB in the conference have this little thing after their name that says (RS). McCoy, Bradford.....
  2. the key is to think like a pirate, but act like ninja. ... and knowing is half the battle.
  3. Cy......... Baylor is, and always will be, the biggest loser in the Big 12. The school is too socially conservative and will never be a serious threat. And, if top notch players in Texas have an option for Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma or Texas A&M they take that 99 times out of a 100. Bottom line: Baylor is still the last ditch, last resort, last option for marginal recruits. Furthermore: Baylor sucks and there is nothing going on now that'll change that....F&%$ the Baylor QB and anyone who loves his trash talking a**. Well, I'm back for those that remember me from a couple months ago barking about Baylor and our improvement. I expected these comments out of Cy and HuskerJen. You both sound like Aggies. I appreciate the respect from most everyone else on this board. The hype in my opinion is about 90% accurate. As a Baylor fan, I haven't expected to go to bowl game in my lifetime as a fan (started following in 1998). This year I FULLY expect a winning a season and then some. Baylor has every bit as much of a reason to be optimistic this year as Nebraska does. You can say you were 4-8 blah, blah, blah CY. We were 2 PLAYS from a bowl game....and playing in the Big 12 South. Of course, Baylor doesn't have near the talent of OU or Texas, and one of them will likely be Big 12 champs once again. But we do have the developed talent that is comparable to Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and Texas Tech this year. We have nearly the same schedule as last year, and aside from Texas, OU and Nebraska...every single one of our opponents have a drop off in talent from the year before. Good luck to both our programs this year!....I have a feeling both Nebraska and Baylor are going to make a lot more noise than we have in the past decade. So since Baylor won 4 games last year they are going to win 6 and be bowl eligible and Nebraska is going to win the National Championship since 8 years ago we played in the game and lost???? Just saying...... Seriously guys, did any of you even watch any film of Griffin? Did you notice that the reason his completion percentage was so high was because he completed over 60% of his passes on routes that were shorter than 10 yards to TE and RB. For Christ sake, I could complete a number of those passes. Robert Griffin is nothing more than a track star that knows where his checkdowns are. He's like Sam Keller with a 40 time....just dump it to Lucky and we'll be fine right??? Someone before mentioned Tommie Frazier and Vince Young and RG in the same sentence, are you f'ing kidding me? I am certain that he is faster than those two, but he is not in the same class of player. Let alone his offensive line is nothing compared to those of the Pipeline in the 90s or UT several years ago or now. ONE PLAYER CANNOT MAKE A TEAM WIN IN FOOTBALL!! Let's look at the schedule for Baylor last year... August 28 No. 23 Wake Forest L 41-13 0-1 (0-0) September 6 Northwestern State W 51-6 1-1 (0-0) September 12 Washington State W 45-17 2-1 (0-0) September 19 at Connecticut L 31-28 2-2 (0-0) October 4 No. 1 Oklahoma L 49-17 2-3 (0-1) October 11 Iowa State W 38-10 3-3 (1-1) October 18 at No. 8 Oklahoma State L 34-6 3-4 (1-2) October 25 at Nebraska L 32-20 3-5 (1-3) November 1 No. 14 Missouri L 31-28 3-6 (1-4) November 8 at No. 4 Texas L 45-21 3-7 (1-5) November 15 Texas A&M W 41-21 4-7 (2-5) November 29 at No. 7 Texas Tech L 35-28 4-8 (2-6) So they were murdered by Wake Forest at home a team they are considering an automatic win on the road this year, hahahaha! Plus, you tell me which B12 teams they are going to beat this year? Iowa State and Texas A&M are all I see, and neither of those is a sure thing. So they are going 4-0 in the OOC having to travel to Wake Forest.......not going to happen... Nevermind, I just realized that one fast player that is really just a RB at QB can make a team great. Jammal Lord without an offensive line??? How good would that have been?
  4. If I remember - one of his big bug-a-boos at Doane was he recruited outside of their usual SE Nebraska territory and he went to Florida and Texas. And he commuted from either Lincoln or even Omaha. I think this upset some of the establishment there. Having lived in small towns, I know this isn't difficult. Actually Tommie screamed profainities constantly at the players and wouldn't teach just say that is wrong. His coaching staff hated him and said he was terrible, and he lost nearly all of the players. They were down to less than 30 players his last year because they all quit and he couldn't convince anyone to come play for him. Just because you are a great athlete doesn't make you a great coach...cases in point: Larry Bird Isaiah Thomas etc..
  5. It will probably be closer to 7:35 because the pick won't be in right away, but if he lives up to expectations I can see him going number 1. There is not a position with a higher first round success rate than DT. If they are dominant in college they will be in the NFL. No player on defense can influence a game like a great DT can, any team will take that chance. Much more of a sure thing than QB. There's a reason Albert Haynesworth makes more money than anybody ever has playing football.
  6. Your right, and IMO anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves. Last I checked there was still two divisions in the big 12, so why should only one of them get to host the championship game in their own back yard every year? I'm sorry but conceding any more of the competitive and regional advantage to the south teams is a very stupid idea, and one that no Husker fan should be supporting! Seriously, how do you justify only one group of fans having to travel long distances to attend the game every year. Why shouldn't the south fans (who have more income and population on average) have to shoulder the same financial burden of travel and the added costs associated with it equally with the north teams? Now keep in mind, I could get to Cowboy stadium, through their absurdly overpriced parking lot, and in my seat in 90 minutes if traffic is light. And I still feel this is a really, REALLY bad thing for any Big 12 North fan. Can't believe the North ADs and Chancellor's would allow this to happen.
  7. Well I will tell you, as will many on this board, Dillard isn't anywhere near the starting lineup. Fisher is almost a guaranteed starter and if Blake is healthy I would imagine he would figure in. May is a good bet, but i wouldn't imagine seeing too many 3 LB sets this season against spread teams.
  8. thats pretty much a sellout blitz- its my answer to five wide sets in video games, but we haven't seen much of that the past few years. Mainly, i think, because you have to be confident in your ability to man up like that. Pelini has shown to be more of a fan of zone coverage and zone blitzes, but "spread" isn't really new (some parts of it are esp. the way mizzou was doing it with Daniel) and we generally shredded "spread" teams when we played tehm back when we had good defenses. I remember our guys hitting Weurffel about the same time he got the snap just simply bc we would man up and bring 6, and they did a good job of making sure the free guy was someone like Terell Farley, Jamel Williams, Octavius Mcfarlane, etc. True, but I remember getting burned all day by slant routes by TTU and KU during that time. The way to defend the spread is to force mistakes by pressure, but mostly to stiffen in the red zone aka Oklahoma. Spread teams are going to move the ball, but if you make them kick FG and you score TDs eventually the run threat will be gone and you can stop them.
  9. This statement is entirely accurate, HuskerJen you are looking at this as an employer allowing a person in the know (HR or management) openly discuss with others the health issues they are privy to of an employee. In the social realm any and all things freely shared can be shared either by mouth or in print. By this same token, it would be illegal for anyone to report injury information if it didn't come in the form of a press release. This is just not true, if it is freely offered it has entered the public domain and therefore is not in violation of HIPPA unless you are violating patient privilege. HIPPA does not concern those not bound by its guidelines, hence a person asking a question and getting a direct answer from source is in no way a violation and neither is the progression of it through the public forums be it media or a message board. Sometimes we all get too caught up in legalities, hence the legal action against the home owner by the criminal who fell in the garage he broke into.....
  10. that's because then they ran on the turf, now they run on a track. He ran sub 4.25 in the NFL, and would have the 100 m state record by more than .4 if not for wind aid.
  11. Ever heard of this guy they called Ahman??? Just kidding, but he was a speed demon. I don't remember the exact time, but he was tied for the fastest time in the entire league as an NFL rookie in Seattle if I remember correctly.
  12. TT thats a good point. If all sports are considered who is our main rival in everyones opinion?? TEXAS...on a conference level since its inception, NU or UT has won the all sports championship every year I believe (may need some info on that). The have rabid fan bases, unlimited financial ability, more so from UT obviously buy don't kid yourself, NU can fund the entire athletic budget plus just from football and that is better than almost anyone can say, and both feel entitled to be great because of tradition (NU) and money/power (UT). Plus the natural hate most in this state have for everything Texas helps fuel that. We just aren't they're equal on the football field yet. p.s. I root for Texas when they aren't playing NU because at least they can win a title when they win the B12 unlike OU.
  13. #65 Mike Smith...that's all I got on that one
  14. #63 Greg Jorgenson #64 obviously NFL Hall of Famer Bob Brown
  15. It isn't the last decade, it has always been that way. We were just always elite and in the NC hunt so we got love from them. It will come around again, besides this isn't even about ESPN. These are the rankings in the video game NCAA Football 2010 set by EA sports.
  16. Favorite: Ahman Green--speed kills man, plus he went on to be a stud for my Pack as well. Best: Lawrence Phillips..... hands down the most talented RB I have ever witnessed. I remember him running over a DE on a toss sweep right after the catch and then cutting and accelerating to full speed in one stride once he spotted a hole that very few could have seen. I think that was the '95 Michigan State game, but not sure. He was just amazing....but you know how that story ends!
  17. You still don't have the talent to run up the score OU, UT, or OSU. OU will take a BIG tumble because of the OL lacking depth and the defense not playing like it returned 9 of 11 starters. ....is with your obsession with oSu?
  18. I love this quote, as you can probably tell!! Alexander was an amazing man, if you get a chance to read more about him I strongly suggest you do.
  19. Like a cow's opinion??? Sorry Friends reference real quick. Short, sweet, and right to the point. I tend to agree with you on this one, but it is still a mental challenge. And Fro Daddy, no disrespect meant here because you are awesome, I would say that the fact Pinkel (before the former OC was helping call plays I believe) was completely and utterly out coached by KEVIN COSGROVE. There is no way you should have lost a single game to NU over that 4 year stretch with Cosgrove as the DC against your offense. That being said, maybe it is a bigger deal than you let on that Christensen (I think that was his name) is gone... Just sayin'.........
  20. I am not concerned with the actual size of the player as much as I am the arm strength and his ability to make a good decision consistently and deliver the ball in the receiver's pocket. That is what I was referring to.
  21. Nope, I just don’t get the boners, man crushes, starry eyes or whatever you want to call it, that some on here have for him. He is what he is, which is a guy that was a decent College QB that played well for NU but really didn’t help NU beat anyone worth a crap. Also I can’t stand the fact that some won’t accept it that he won’t make a NFL roster or how Bo said he never singles out individuals but always smacked a big fat one on Ganz backside after every game. Whatever though, I hope he is very successful in whatever he does that being said I don’t believe that involves playing in the NFL. I agree with newearth. I don't believe Ganz will make it in the NFL. He wasn't really anything "spectacular", but he worked for us for what we needed at the time. Good luck to him in everything, I just don't think he has the tools to be an NFL QB Here is the deal guys, a lot of college QBs have a good season. Many throughout last year had fantastic years and led their team to victory. In a college football team, leadership is huge. It is great to have your QB lead your team, and it can make up for a lack of (insert talent deficiency here) on a college field. However, when you face a truly talented team you must have talent at QB to win. In Joe's case, he doesn't have elite arm strength. Matter of fact he doesn't even have good arm strength. He really struggles on some of his decision making/accuracy at points. Now only having one of those two problems would not be a death sentence, but having both is a problem. Elite arm strength can make up for making bad decisions/accuracy problems because: 1) it allows you to force passes through tight windows and 2) it opens up the playbook for the deep balls that take advantage of the NFL's love affair with the cover 2. This is a classic example of a player like Brett Favre, he might be the greatest QB of all time because he has probably the strongest arm of any QB to ever play. Great decision making/accuracy can make up for a lack of arm strength for obvious reasons. All NFL plays that are drawn up consist of at least one or two "check with me" options and a check down after the snap. The problem is that a QB can have great decisions on every play in a game but 2, and those 2 can and will lose you the game (especially if it is a pick 6, or in the case of most NFL games it negates a precious scoring opportunity. I mean, lets be honest, you aren't going to stop teams in the NFL all game so you must make sure you win the scoring race to be a leg up on your opponent). THE NFL IS NOT COLLEGE FOOTBALL. You really think we all know more than a bunch of people that are paid to scout players that the teams depend on to win, and in turn keep the stands full? I find it extremely laughable that any one would think they are a better judge of talent than an NFL team. Do they reach sometimes to find a diamond in the rough? Abso-frickin'-lutely they do. When they do find that project that pans out, they are a damn genius. When it doesn't work out the player is a bust and they move on. You generally don't see teams draft a project two years in a row. Here's the deal folks, THAT TEAM KNOWS WHEN A PLAYER MIGHT NOT MAKE IT! They draft with that in mind, it is part of the formula they all use to evaluate if the reach in the draft (risk) is worth the potential payoff of that investment (reward). ****SIDE NOTE**** if anyone here thinks the Redskins don't know exactly what time of day and where whatever CG did happened, you are sadly mistaken. They know and they decided the risk was worth the reward relative to his position in the draft. Now, do they make mistakes? Yes they do. Sometimes no matter how gifted a player is, the organization finds out that without someone holding their new "star's" hand they cannot succeed. An NFL team is not going to hold your hand and baby you along. Only the strong survive, if you can't cut it someone else is waiting that can cut it and wants that money they will pay you. They are already in that film room, waiting for their chance. Other times you find out that maybe that person's competition wasn't that good. You find out that a good college coach can compensate for talent flaws by game planning against weaker parts of the opposition. You can't do that in the NFL, all the players that contribute are absolutely fantastic football players. I don't mean to offend anybody by this, but I do happen to be quite familiar with this process and wanted everyone to get the facts about how it works. Now having said all of this, I will say I did enjoy watching Joe Ganz and it says a lot that he got a tryout given his lack of NFL physical talent. Sometimes guys surprise you, I just don't think we'll see Joe making an NFL roster anytime soon. I do wish him the best in whatever he decides to do.
  22. If your backs were Ahman Green, Mike Rozier, Lawrence Phillips... They would be on the list. Wow, thank you for going out on a limb to throw that out. Hey, I bet Vince Young, Ricky Williams, Roy Williams (both OU and UT), and Rashaan Salaam would be to.....
