  1. I think Burkhead's a great player but his most memorable play was the drop against Texas. I wouldn't be surprised if that still haunts him a little bit. This should be a big year for him.
  2. So Josh is obviously a big fan. I think it may be setting the expectations a bit too high to offer deity status.
  3. @Moraine: LOL Beck has a great opportunity to be regarded as the king of NU offense... Our offense expectations are so low after the past couple of years that even a middle of the road offensive production will seem miraculous.
  4. I thought it was good, and that people here are taking themselves a bit too seriously.
  5. As long as it's red and white, I don't care. Some of you guys may be in serious danger of having your 'man card' revoked.
  6. I cannot understand how ANYONE would not feel that Taylor Martinez' health/performance is not the biggest factor in whether our season is a success or failure... His play determined the quality of the entire offense last year. We can probably assume that the defense is solid (great odds there), so the offense is the key...
  7. OK, knap, that wasn't the statement, but OK. Trying to save this one, eh?...
  8. Yes, unless you get another .01 on the clock to beat Nebraska in the CCG. Hey, it's happened...
  9. So, not every player on the roster participates in fall camp?
  10. I'd like to see the Husker staff tell him to decide first, or not to show up. Nobody should treat this program as a second class choice, and Husker football is nobody's "negotiating tactic". He may be a great athlete, and if he wants to play football I'd love to see him in red, but he needs to quit using Husker football as a tool.
  11. Well, there couldn't have been a worse team to pick him... Now he can be close to home AND a millionaire.
  12. Creativity is overrated. Classic/simple/traditional designs are appropriate for a classic conference.
  13. Yet, you're here... I have all of that stuff too Mike, AND, I'm a fan of a kick ass college football team. Sometimes you can have it all...
  14. Opposing OC's think "the brothers Grim Reaper"
  15. @da skers; Thanks for the info. Your posts are some of the best on this board.
  16. Yeah, but we are coming from Niles Paul who seemed to be the perpetual freshman when it came to mistakes...
  17. Career ending injury with $3M+ in the bank is a very different scenario than without the $3M...
  18. I'm already getting butterflies in the gut for this season.
  19. @blasted: I can certainly see your point but the part of the equation that most people are focusing on is the potential for injury. It's obviously a scenario of "bird in the hand vs. 2 birds in the bush" and while there is no correct answer, many of us would like the instant security that might come with $3+ million in the bank. Maybe he'll "gamble" that he can achieve all of his goals/dreams. That would be great for the Huskers. I'm acutely aware of the frailty of the human body and that may affect my thought process more than most...
  20. You are making so many false assumptions that it's hard to know where to begin... Nobody has been whining, just recognizing reality. Also, please remember that it was you who launched the personal attack in the first place. Formal higher education is certainly not what it used to be. Access to information is SO EASY now and that change has been so fast that the education process must drastically change its paradigm. Thus far, that has not happened and as several people have said, the cost:benefit ratio for formal higher education is shrinking quickly.
  21. I'd like a double of whatever Husker Moon is drinkin'. Go Big Red!!!
  22. then you must be an _____, because you sure sound like one... (there were too many choices and I simply couldn't narrow it down so please fill in the blank as you see fit.)
  23. I have more formal education than 99+% of people walking the face of the earth and I can tell you with great certainty that a great deal of that education was a waste of time, effort, and money. When I'm 70, if I get there, I'll probably be even more angry at any wasted time spent in "education".
