  1. OK, I'll try to go slower... The military does its best to eliminate decision making. They have protocols and training so that decisions are minimized. Thinking for yourself is not going to get you far in the military. The military is therefore a poor example. Any bets on what it takes for entrance into the military academies? So what might be the reason a person is a "bad test taker"? Your assertion is that it's not a measure of their intelligence nor their ability to handle the stress of the test situation. So what is it then? Some "mystical power" that some people are not blessed with? LOL! So what exactly does the ACT measure/expose if it's not academic preparedness nor stress tolerance? Do you have data to back up the claim that it is not an indicator of success in school or in life? See: While everybody loves to point out the exceptions, the data supports the validity of the ACT for college success. As to success in life, well, first success must be defined and then, well, there will be no need for more of this sentence...
  2. Everybody gets the ribbon for participating. We are becoming a nation of wimps. There should be no standards of excellence because it might hurt someone's feelings... Rant off.
  3. Lots of people here who feel qualified to assess the validity of a "gold standard" test. Interesting... Would being a "bad test taker" or whatever, mean that the person was likely to be a poor performer in pressure situations? Or is it a type of disability that we should get Sally Struthers to make an infomercial about?
  4. So exactly how is the 28 score irrelevant? Your supporting statements seem to counter your assertion.
  5. We were exposed. Martinez is not a QB. Bo is not the second coming. We have a lot of work to do if we want to be competitive in the Big 10. Truly pathetic performance. Embarrassing to coaches, players, and fans. We will learn and come back better, but this was pathetic. Taylor should be a receiver as he has been exposed OVER AND OVER AND OVER again as a very poor QB, though a great athlete. As it turns out, the recruiters were right...
  6. HuskerinHouston is obviously spending too much time around Texans and is acting like it...
  7. Comparing this post to what we see out of the B12, is there any question as to where the academic superiority lies? Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and he even made sense!!! This is going to be great for the University.
  8. Ugh, I'd rather decline the bowl and just have another "spring game" on January 1.
  9. I sincerely HOPE that Martinez uses this as a wake up call and comes back stronger and better than ever. The first step in that process is to check the ego at the door and realize that you have some serious deficiencies as a QB and then work on them until you don't. Maybe tonight was that wake-up call. Of course, I'm also excited to see what this Carnes kid has to offer... And having two healthy lower extremities can't hurt...
  10. Martinez was completely exposed tonight, as he has been previously. Tremendous runner, YES! Complete quarterback, absolutely NO. It's amazing that we were actually still in this game at the end with the offense on vapor lock and the number of turnovers. I see good things on the horizon, VERY good things. With a QB that's not completely one-dimensional and the core of the rest of the team (defense especially) I don't see how we cannot be in the NC hunt for the next couple of years. This one stings, but as always, GO BIG RED!
  11. Bull seems to have a boner for Arrowhead.
  12. Hopefully our guys will play focused and loose. I am very glad that the talking heads have chosen OU to win this game. Now it is time to simply end this chapter of Husker football history with a win for the ages. Go Big Red!!!
  13. You saved your post at the last possible moment.
  14. Due to the gravity of the situation, this game might require 2 prayers...
  15. OK, so the Texas support is nice but we have some unresolved issues with Texas. Texas' support clearly lies under the heading of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". However, the support from the Big 10 almost gives me chills... It's a great feeling. to be going to a conference where respect and tradition are honored.
  16. What other stadium in the Big 12 land can compare with this one? People are just looking for things to whine and bitch about... Starting to think we (all whiny Husker fans) all need to pull on the big girl panties and just get on with life.
  17. I actually think the Big 10 has been around for a while...
  18. Would that be the same decade which nearly ALL Nebraska fans would say that the program was abyssal and should be buried and never spoken of again due to the amount of tarnish it inflicted on the true legacy of Husker football? If yes, then I wouldn't exactly be using that as an example of how valid Iowa is as a rival. Just sayin'...
  19. Why even do the poll if there's a box for both? "Would you like to have your cake and eat it too?" Um, yes... Duh
  20. I completely disagree. What better way to say "good bye" to Texas than to play the conference title game in their backyard and they're watching on TV... Maybe they can get tickets... THIS is PERFECT (if we can win...)!
