  1. We've all seen how the transfer portal has dramatically affected recruiting and roster management for college football. It has fundamentally changed the collegiate football landscape. Nebraska has been one of 2022's prime benefactors from the portal and I hope we can keep that momentum in the future. My specific question is, should the transfer portal completely change the way (and timeframe) we recruit offensive and defensive linemen? I've read that the lines, especially o line, is the most challenging recruiting task due to the guess work in recruiting 18 year old prospects, still growing and developing, and trying to project the 20 year old version of that same young man. Would it be better to simply recruit 20 year olds from the portal who have shown promise? Use lower levels of football, or lower level programs, to develop these players until their most useful age/physical development. It seems like there would be far less "misses" in choosing from 20 year olds than 18. OR, is it more critical to have these young men in OUR program, learning OUR style and plays as well as OUR S&C for multiple years in order to have the most productive lines? Thoughts?
  2. Nor have things been "OK" so I think we're guilty of false advertising regardless of which gesture is used.
  3. I like the new logo better. I thought the old one looked dumb regardless of any supposed meanings from the hand signal/symbol. But can we all agree to cancel Lil' Red. Not on account of any racism or any other ism, or cancel culture or whatever, but that little f'er is creepy.
  4. I agree we're in a much better position now than we were in the last several years but I'd be surprised if what we have now is what we start fall camp with. Our current bounty does allow for some attrition though, which is rather refreshing.
  5. Did he suggest strongly that he's eligible? It's rather important atm.
  6. Cold weather tends to weed out those soft of mind. Good screening test.
  7. "...we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS"
  8. The timing of the quoted tweets makes me think that "something" happened today. Why would you cancel a top portal QB other than having another guy locked up? Interesting.
  9. And if our OL doesn't improve, they'd be dead men walking.
  10. Keep the RB coach, have Frost take over special teams.
  11. Without knowing roster changes, staff turnover, and several other variables, that statistic doesn't mean much. This year, a balanced offense despite having a Heisman level qb would suggest that he isn't completely biased against the run.
  12. Any chance a former center who's coached in the NFL is reason enough for Cam to stay another year to develop and be drafted much higher (and be paid much more $$$)?
  13. or about 2 quarterbacks worth of time. Didn't Tommy Armstrong or Taylor Martinez finish their careers at UNL?
  14. It's not insane. It's modern college football. In the past, a transfer was nearly a death penalty for a collegiate career. Now it's little more than a speeding ticket. This is how college football will look if the rules remain as they are today.
  15. I'll definitely have a second team to follow next season. Good luck to Adrian. Regardless of the results, I have zero doubt that he gave Nebraska his best.
  16. I wonder if the recent bar/blonde photos might make ND a bit apprehensive to take Meyer. Football is important, but perhaps the image of ND might be more important?
  17. Special Teams coach Offensive line coach and patience while the younger guys have time to develop Good QB out of the transfer portal (I think Smothers could be very good, but would like to have multiple options) Run first/option type offensive focus rather than a spread type offense. Other than that, I'm weirdly optimistic following 3-9, and I think we should stay the course with Frost. If next year isn't 8-4 or 9-3, then I'll likely feel that it's time to move on.
  18. I see Smothers as Taylor Martinez lite, and much more similar to the golden era of Husker QB's than the recent versions. Run first and most of the passing is easier when defenses sell out to stop the run. It should be interesting to watch and I'm always hopeful that a simplified playbook allows the team to play faster with less thinking.
  19. The only reason I think his return is plausible is the NIL $. I'm sure he's cashing in nicely and will do better as Nebraska's quarterback than he will in most "jobs". The NIL $ changes everything.
  20. Don't be attacking gingers just because this particular one is a crappy FB coach.
  21. But if you don't spit at the refs, are you even trying?
