  1. You guys do get a trophy. KU got one last year when they tied us. I thought KU had to commission their own, and I also recall the KU fans on the Scout board so excited over it. I thought it was lame when they did it, and I see no reason why we should do it. Just lame lame lame to an infinite degree. It is fun, however, to mention it to MU fans that in their two greatest seasons in recent memory, they actually had the same conference record as the 2nd place team in both years. I saw the Huskers play and saw MU play some. I have no problem admitting they are sole proprietors of first place in the North. It's not even something I'd admit anyway since the North stunk up the joint this year.
  2. Did Dr. Tom ever beat Free Shoes U? I don't think he did (someone please correct me if I am wrong). Thus, if my assumption is correct, and if Bo manages to pull it off -- what a way to end his first year -- doing something TO never accomplished.
  3. It wasn't that bad of a call, just really badly executed in my mind. By rule, with the kicker moving out of position to kick the ball, the holder had to have his knee off the ground - which he didn't. Play should have been blown dead at that point, whether it was successful or not. If it had worked, everyone would be slapping Bo and the players on the back saying how great it was, but since it turned into the disaster that it was, it kind of made him look like a goat. Yeah, Bo is stand up, and admitted that he called the play. If it would have been BC it would have been about how poorly the players executed the play, not about how he probably shouldn't have called that particular play at that time...and if it had worked, it would have been all about BC's genius game plan and how they saw something in film...etc. I think it also shows that the NCAA needs to seriously look at how the rules are being defined...either they are rules or their not. I didn't like the response given to ABC's commentators when they asked the officials or the NCAA about the "loose interpretation" that they allowed in one conferences officiating over another. The rules should be the same for everyone...and by the book. Bo should have thrown the flag on that play and made them review it (knowing the rule of course) realizing that the holder still had his knee down on the ground. That touchdown by CU would have been reversed and called dead at that spot the holder got the ball. I don't know if Bo didn't see his knee was still down, didn't know the rule, or was just silenced by the official. The officiating this year has really sucked. Too many missed calls in just about every game played. Video review was supposed to take care of some of this...but I am beginning to think you should be able to challenge a lot more of their calls such as penalties or a no call that is obvious to everyone in the stadium except the officiating crew for some reason...like the personal foul against Ganz on the sack. How the official is standing right there and missed that one is beyond me. It's like you're inside my head! Get out, it's scary in there.
  4. Amen! Taylor sold it perfectly. I might have to buy that game on DVD, for that play alone.
  5. Hunh? If they offer him D coordinator, you think he should turn it down? Seems unlikely. Sorry, I backed out of my stance. I just replied that I would understand if it was for a promotion.
  6. At first I was thinking exactly that. Then I remembered another rumor discussed here awhile back about 2 assistants not being here next year, and Ek was one mentioned. So, maybe there is something to it. In any event, I decided I will still respect him, as well as any staff that might leave for other opportunities, since he has to make and live with his own decisions. I'd understand leaving for a higher position, but if anyone leaves and takes the same job for the same money, I'll personally <intentionally left blank>
  7. Thanks. I thought it was somewhere around 6. Either way, 7 is already achieved and 8 is well within our grasp. Do you remember any of the other Big 12 ones off hand? Thanks to the first poster for the search suggestions - couldn't really find it that way either, but at least now I know how to search next year (and bookmark it!).
  8. Funny thing about that is that Freeman never considered KSUcks when Snyder was still coach - it was only after the clown prince was hired that Freeman felt the "bond". It will be interesting to see what TEXT BOY decides to do....somehow, I don't see that as a match made in heaven. Rumor that Eckler leaving to go to KSU: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=173&f=2670&t=3463955 I seriously will lose all of the respect I have for Ekler if he leaves. As for the post about the "Match Made In Heaven" between Snyder and Freeman -- didn't Freeman blame all of Snyder's recruits for all of the team's woes? I think Freems is filling out his paperwork as I'm typing this.
  9. I remember seeing a website before the season even started, and it had odds of each Div IA team winning X number of games. I'm not a gambler, so I don't know where to find it, if it still even exists. I don't even know what key words to use to search. I thought I'd go back and visit it to see how accurate the odds/predictions were for some of the Big 12 teams, and it's bugging the heck out of me that I can't find it. Obviously I wanted to see if they were right about Nebraska's W total (so far). Sorry if this is off topic, although it does pertain to the Huskers in that I want to know how many games 'they', whoever they are, thought we'd win. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  10. He's a Freeman seeking missile, is what he is.
  11. Actually, in the grand scheme of things, it isn't a whole lot better. The statistics give that illusion because the Blackshirts are simply on the field for far fewer plays. So, really, we have "ball hogging" to thank. (Thank you ball control!) It's awesome either way. Last year the Huskers were ranked 81st in TOP, this year they are ranked 2nd. Less time the Blackshirts' services are needed = better. Establishing any type of run game has been just what this defense needed for Bo's first year. They are unfortunately still giving up an average of 5.85 yards per play, and if there was a ranking for that, it would be good enough for 9th place in the Big 12 -- just ahead of KSU, A&M, and ISU. For now, however, I will take the illusion of better defensive play and just say we are ranked 4th in the conference in total defense. That said, I am loving the last two games where I do think there has been legitimate improvement made. What I love even more is that there is no quit in this team at all and I think the defense will get even better as they all unlearn the past.
