  1. Doesn't matter what K-State run imho. Not to be harsh or brash, but they are going to be the whipping boys of 2009. They return no starting QB and they lack overall talent/depth. I would even give ISU an advantage over them, especially since their QB is a returning starter. Doesn't matter what they run this year, they aren't going to be bowl eligible for AT LEAST 2 years.
  2. I'm 99.9% that the situation is completely over with. Bo said that Paul was just suspended for the remainder of Spring practices, and nothing else has been said or discussed. There has been quite a discussion over whether his punishment was too lenient and whether or not further action should be taken, but as of now nothing has happened. So like I said, I'm sure it is done with. My expectation: Paul will be working on personal workouts and getting into his 7 vs. 7. He'll get in rhythm with the quarterbacks/other receivers this summer, get bigger/faster, and be in full swing for Fall camp and the beginning of the season.
  3. How long was Cotton the O-line coach during his first tenure here? I think the best way to judge him might be to go off how the o-line produced here in 2003 and any other years he was here. That way we can see what to expect. The only tough thing is that now he has to focus on the passing game since we were still fairly run heavy in 2003.
  4. Interesting read. Given that Bo is arguably the best defensive mind in the B12, here is what I see. NU will be better than KU defensively, with Suh being back and our defensive line being the strong point in the defense. KU will be better than NU offensively, specifically in the WR and QB position. I think NU has an advantage in the backfield with Castille and Helu. Given defense wins championships, I give NU the slight edge. But that's just my 2/100 of a dollar.
  5. Lol very nice work there OP. I gave up playing the current Nebraska offense on NCAA 09. I converted the entire team into an option run team, and have recruited nothing but guys that fit that mold I'm 130-2 as head coach (playing on Heisman difficulty) and Nebraska has a total of 14 National Championships in my dynasty
  6. With the exception of expanding to 14 teams...that's a great point. I think we should kick Baylor and Iowa State out of the Big 12 and bring in Arkansas and Iowa. But we need them to help make us bowl eligible
  7. I don't laugh out loud on this board that often, but I lol'd pretty hard at that.
  8. I think that more or less sums it up.
  9. There is nothing fishy about it at all. And it's sad really, because people are going to question the University, when in reality, they are taking the high road even though they are getting abused publicly. And really, if it were something shady, someone would have been more than happy to bust this story by now. Especially since Cody made these comments about a big rules violation. If there was nothing fishy they'd admit what happened and be done with it. 100% Correct No, it's not. Not in the least bit. In high school, I had a teammate on my football team who got suspended from the team for violating "team rules". The coach and the kid kept quiet about it and only a few members on the team actually knew what happened, myself being one of them. He didn't commit stat. rape and he didn't scalp tickets. He had sex in the equipment room. To save himself from public ridicule/embarrassment, we didn't tell anybody about it to spare him. We just left it at "he broke team rules". Given nobody has any evidence, you guys don't know what the hell to think or what the hell happened. The fact he is lying is the tell that he is trying to keep the reality of the situation from being known. Therefore if there is nothing fishy about the incident he would come out with it. People lie for a reason and that reason is to hide or hide from the truth. So again, it's 100% correct. And it is in the complete bit. Going by what happened to my teammate in high school, it is completely reasonable that Glenn just doesn't want to be put out there for people to judge him and ridicule him. Why not lie, if he doesn't want people to know what exactly happened? Just because he lied doesn't necessarily mean that something fishy is going on, it also could mean what really happened is something he is embarrassed by. Who are any of us to force him to tell us something he doesn't want to? I'm sure all of us have skeletons in our closet that, if asked about, we would lie depending on the situation. It's not fair to ask for him to divulge something personal to the entire nation when many of you would most likely not be willing to do the same thing with something personal in your own lives.
  10. Well, USC only had one loss last year and still got juked out of the NC game, so it's possible they may not make it if they have one loss.

  12. We should cut Callahan a break? I would rather drink bleach.
  13. Yeah.. Rooting out someone to Blame is not normally something I revel in..My instincts are more toward the finding out what went wrong and trying to find ways to correct it or prevent it from happening again. I used to hate studying History..Too much emphasis was placed on memorizing dates or names..But later, you learn that it's important to understand WHY certain things occur so you don't have to repeat the bad things. Part of it (for me) is hoping someone will be able to convince me Cally wasn't all bad..Maybe the Cancer research he's doing will help my opinion of him. But... Does anyone else wonder if ATM, Notre Dame, and Mechiken are currently going through Callihanazation/Cosgrovians of their own? Michigan..not so much. Rich Rod had proven results at his previous coaching job, he just came into Michigan and completely revamped almost everything they were trying to do. Michigan has a better chance of actually being good at some point with Rich Rod, imho. Now, ATM and Notre Dame on the other hand, have 2 guys that made their name in the NFL and had little to no impact in the college game. They end up treating it more like a business then they do a sport that, at this point, is really only played for a couple of reasons: the love the game, passion for school, getting an education, and eventually making the pro's for those who are talented enough. The NFL is a business focused in monetary terms, and they are run two separate ways. TMI, I know. Basically I think Michigan will get better before ND or ATM ever do.
  14. I agree with this for the most part, but more specifically I think it is a 50/50 deal. They judge the talent and then look at their needs, and then make a choice off of what they need and then take the best available player at the position. They go hand in hand. You need one to have the other. Come on, 50/50 is not agreeing with his post for the most part. Actually I think enhance was agreeing with TT. He is just saying that talent is the initial qualifier to get on the list of players a team will consider. From that point the actual selections are based upon taking players from that list that fit the needs best, not necessarily taking the top player overall on their list. So what he is saying is talent is the biggest factor, not needs. You can't say "I agree with this for the most part" and then say it's 50/50. That's not agreeing more one way or another. I totally get what he's saying I was just trying to be an ass. Specifically, I'm saying I agree with him that they pick on a need based system, but it all starts with talent. Obviously the combine doesn't show you what you need, it shows you who is talented. I can see how it can be confusing and contradictory, but there really is no way for me to put it, unless I say I completely disagree and think it is a 50/50 deal, but then It'd still be misleading because I'd be partially agreeing with him still. See the conundrum?
  15. Nothing more annoying than that. Cy, two things. First, free tickets? Doubt it, unless somebody is feeling extremely generous. One of my good friend's family owns about 25 Husker season tickets, but I know they don't give them up without whoever is buying them paying full price. Secondly, I'm pretty sure you will be unable to get onto the football field. As far as I know, only special guests can get down there.
  16. Him and Mel Kiper make my ears ring.
  17. If only you knew....I dont think Pelini even know the offense's playbook. Bo does seem to let Watson run his own show, but I'd have to say recruitng Green, implementing more spread option etc. (not the type of things Watts did at CU) seem to indicate Pellini's desires as carried out by Watson. Secondly, I've heard coach P say on the Bo Pelini show that they do break down film together and share ideas. Huskertim is right, HuskerBCS. Pelini is involved in the offense and Watson is involved in the defense, just not a whole lot. Pelini, unlike Callahan, has the entire team in perspective instead of just stockpiling talent on one side of the ball.
  18. Congress will never force the NCAA to do anything, it doesn't make any sense and has little to no effect on politics. This has to be the biggest crock of sh*t I think Congress has ever wasted time thinking about. Don't get me wrong, I'm in favor of an eventual playoff system, but not one that is forced upon us by Congress.
  19. Yeah, Callahan seemed to treat himself like the OC, which is why he obviously had issues getting the team to play to its potential.
  20. Isn't there already a thread going about this? *edit* Thread moved, so disregard my post.
  21. Coincidentally, that was when John Blake was here. Once Blake left, so did the effectiveness of the DL. Remember, the former DC's "philosophy" for the DL was merely gap control. The former DC didn't want the DL to pressure the QB, didn't want sacks, etc.. The previous staff thought sacks and pressuring the QB were over-rated remember? And also that putting your hands up to bat down a pass was useless.
  22. Probably the most intelligent thing I've read so far. I posted something similar a few pages back, but my example was little bit more dramatic and far-fetched lol. But still, the fact of the matter is we really have nothing to work with ehre and probably will never have anything to work with.
