I agree, and I really don’t like ESPN… but he just spent 40 min on McAfee this week, which is a really long appearance for that ESPN show. They love signing day and cover it better than anyone. He is forcing them to talk about Nebraska

You may be right but as of now, I completely disagree. I think it is a done deal based on Rhule’s words. “I can’t wait for people to know what I know”… paraphrased Goal is to give VB today… wait until Wednesday, it will be TOP story on ESPN signing special, along with another surprise or two based on some insiders hints. ESPN will be all over the momentum created by Rhule and we will get a ton of positive coverage, after a fantastic appearance on the McAfee show this week on ESPN. This is calculated!!

I don’t have written, but I listen to 590 Husker Radio daily, and obviously this topic has been front and center, especially starting with McCord rumor. They talk about Purdy a lot, they speculate like the rest of us, but they seem to agree that as of now they expect him to return. Again, I am not going to get into a show me the source pissing contest, bc it really isn’t that important to me, but since you asked, I asked you where you have seen or heard that he isn’t coming back? Or are we both just going off of gut feeling and what we are trying to piece together?

Not going to argue, but what information makes you think he won’t be with team. Already portal guy. He hasn’t announced he isn’t coming back. Coaches/local media have indicated the presume he will be here. He may very well leave after visiting with family over Christmas, or he may wait to see how spring ball shakes out. The one thing about Rhule, it sounds as if he is upfront and honest with kids. Like I said, Rhule may be looking for Purdy to be that early season or year 1 bridge

Part of me thinks he Rhule will go out and find a 1 year guy, but maybe that is part of the selling point to DR.... We will not bring anyone else in. You beat out CP, HH, DK, then you start. I also believe that Rhule may think that when healthy (which he was NEVER) and with a full time QB coach, that maybe Purdy can be that bridge guy. I stated in another post, that I think CP will be starter game 1-4 (if he sticks around). Unless DR has a fantastic Spring/Summer/Fall, which then DR would obviously start right away. My guess is we would love to have him appear in 4 games, save RS

As much as I agree with you and echoed that in the post right after yours, I will add that only 3 of the last 5 weeks are daunting. Wisconsin and Iowa are including in those and they are two teams that very beatable and where this year.

If Purdy stays, my money is on Purdy to be starter game 1, unless DR just tears it up in Spring/Summer. DR could be solid #2 to begin year. Correct on the schedule. We basically need to start fast in the early portion if a bowl game is possible. No time for "growing pains". Frazier didn't begin freshman year as a starter....it was mid season.

The first two reasons make sense....but recent history would suggest he wouldn't be in a battle to start a bowl game if hew came here. lol

I have been on this bandwagon for weeks. More than likely he will be in his 3rd NC game too. Up for the FCS version of Heisman. Just a junior, but 18 of the 22 starters are seniors. He may look to leap for his final year. Would be major upgrade from our current room, but maybe not a sure starter over DR

I would almost guarantee that either DK and/or Purdy are gone before signing day IF Husker nation gets what they want. If McCord and DR committ, they will both leave as well as they should. Asking someone to stick around to be 3rd or 4th string is asinine. If we are paying top $$ for the two top dogs, DK and CP have no shot to play without injury. HH will be the other QB in the room and will probably take snaps at TE like early this season.

DR would red shirt unless he is needed bc of injury... he is allowed 4 games. I would imagine he suits and is listed #2, but would be awesome to not need him and save a rs

Wouldn't be the first guy MR hired whom hasn't coached at the college level. That doesn't seem to bother him.
