  1. Don't go there. Bo didn't make a mess of this program. If you didn't like Bo's personality that's your prerogative, but Bo ran a clean program. The only problem was the disconnect fans felt they had with the team and that isn't a steep hill to overcome. This isn't the Callahan mess. Not even close. Riley's walking into a good thing, an early Christmas present if you will.Bo created some rifts within the program for damn sure....Go listen to Jay Foreman or Damnon Benning...they elude to issues with the culture and how toxic it was.... These guys had contact to players and coaches.... Suh said that there were problems with leadership at NU beyond head FB coach. That seems to point the finger at SE or HP, unless I'm missing someone. What do you think he means?
  2. Riley --> Excellent talent evaluation, player development. Maximizes QB Growth. Great recruiter. Adapts system to pieces instead of forcing pieces into system (i.e., Beck in Bizarro World). Recruiting at NU >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Recruiting at OSU 2012: Wiscy 70, NU 31 Wiscy 7, OSU 10 What's not to like?
  3. This Mitchell thing turned into a dumpster fire pretty quick. He's a senior leaving the program. Clearly a case of a guy committed to his coach and not the program. So he's understandably p***ed off that we fired Bo, who's probably a second father to him. There's no need to start freaking out on here and getting all internet tough guy about it. It ticked me off too. But he's entitled to his opinion. I thought it was low-rent and obviously not taking the high road, but it's how he chose to respond. I'm just thankful for what he gave for the team and honestly don't really care a lick what he thinks about the new hire. If you want an example of taking the high road about Riley, check out Moudy's response in the OWH article on first page. Very classy tweet by Mike. I lol'd at Kyler Reed's not-so-subtle shot at Beck. Beck mismanaged so many things SO much, not the least of which is TE.
  4. Draw the line in the sand and pick a side. Hopefully we get some good debate in here. Mods, feel free to clean this up as you see fit.
  5. Hate to say it, but I really hope Garrison is not retained. His OL simply was not progressing the way I had hoped. Hate to oust a former player, but we can certainly do better.
  6. Initially I thought "Wut?" Then I thought that we had simply replaced Bo with nice Bo. The more this hire sinks in, the more excited I feel about the future of our program. GBR and welcome coach Riley!

  7. Wow, everyone's pissed. I'm just shocked. I'd still rather have Riley than Bo. Give the new guy a crack at it.
  8. If it is any sort of solace, he does run a pro-style system and has developed QBs quite nicely. I wonder he's able to lure Frost away from OU as his OC. It'd be pretty funny to see OSU's head coach pluck OU's OC. But he played as and coached DB for most of his position coaching years.
  9. Jaysus. I google "Mike Reilly Oregon State offense" and this was the second article. Mike Riley shares blame for pass-heavy offense in 2013: Oregon State Beavers rundown I think I might throw up.
  10. I actually like everything about the way Bielema runs his teams. Power running game, always a tough defense, very physical... But it's friggin Bret Bielema. It just feels so damn wrong...
  11. Bielema? i just threw up in my mouth.

  12. Omg. One guy said it in another thread.... On HERE. Said ESPN is reporting it. They clearly are not. Obvious troll is obvious.
  13. Don't get the Shaw hate from some. Power running game from I formation. Lots of TE usage and lead blocking. Great defense. This would be awful for Nebraska. Seems legit.
  14. Which one of you filthy Richards broke Huskerboard?

  15. Is it weird that this is who I imagine whenever Socko speaks?
  16. Barney HAS always been a better big picture ugh than anything else. On the other hand, him trying to lead an offense piloted by Tim Beck and a defense coached by Papuchis makes my brain cry.
  17. He is, and I'm sure he probably wanted to head back. He would bring the perfect offense to Lincoln, if it is what he ran while at Bama. Not very realistic, just a personal favorite.
  18. Fark. FU interviewing McElwain gives me bad feels. He was my favorite choice behind Tressel. If the JT thing doesn't work out, we're gonna regret it if he's already snapped up. Dude's just a dude.
  19. True dat. And even thought Richt is a great recruiter I'm not sure how many Staffords and Murrys he'd be able to bring to Lincoln. Don't think we have any on our roster right now. More than anything, he just doesn't fit the mold of a QB guru who can develop and maximize our QB play. That was ultimately Beck's downfall, amongst other reasons. I think the most successful programs get great QB play and play great defense. Tressel and Frost both fit that MO that MO to a T, especially if they hire a dynamite DC.
  20. NU, one thing that bothers me about Richt as well is he has had two premier caliber pro-style QBs in Stafford and Murray at his disposal and yet the best bowl win he had during those two QBs tenures was a Sugar Bowl win from Stafford against a vastly overmatched Hawaii team in 2007. We could do a lot worse, but I think reading that is something that would scare most Husker fans, given we always bitch about how good we could be if we just had competant QB play.
  21. Best news so far today. I dunno. I think Richt would be an awesome get for us. The things he's done at Georgia are far more impressive than Pelini's track record at NU. That is, when you consider the caliber of the SEC teams he's going up against every year. That, and Richt is a helluva recruiter. While we were getting ready for the Gator Bowl last year, Georgia pulled in the #7 ranked recruiting class. I'd trade that for the Gator Bowl win last January. But, just my opinion is all. I don't think Richt is leaving Athens any time soon. I don't either. He's got job security in the best conference in football with a relatively easy path to the CCG, and hauls in recruits by the dozen since he's in a hotbed. He's got literally no reason to leave, as it appears he doesn't have the dream of rebuilding the Huskers to the glory days of ole... probably since he moved to FLA and finished HS there. Richt strikes me as the Bo of the SEC... always loses a couple or three games a year he shouldn't and he heasn't quite gotten over the hump Hasn't been to a BCS bowl since 2007. Much better options on the table.
  22. GTFI the BS Page thread... you won't be disappointed!!!
