  1. I'm enjoying all the shade being thrown at Minnesota.

  2. Man... for a program that hasn't won anything in 20 years, we sure still seem to live rent free in a lot of people's heads.

  3. I think it's pretty clear now that the greater football world doesn't get Nebraska. We would rather go 0-10 if it meant the alternative option was not playing at all.

Not the goal but the game.

Unfortunately some Nebraska fans don't seem to get that either. Getting slightly annoyed with those who are afraid to compete. It's a defeatist attitude that should not exist.

Husker fans are looking pretty pathetic right now.  I was slightly frustrated when I first saw the schedule.  But....get over it.  We will be playing football and every week is against someone good.  That should be exciting for the fans.  The whining has to stop.

Yep.... we were gonna play all these teams eventually; the order isn't really that big of a deal considering it is a weird situation for everybody. I actually think it could favor us.

  4. Ahh, we're the pariah of the college football world again... feels just like 1995. Sorta.

Ohio State is on our side, at least.

ESPN is giddily ripping on Nebraska. Rittenberg, Wilbon, Howard, all letting it fly.

Here's how they reacted to Frost's statement:

  5. I guess Nebraska has entered the transfer portal.

  6. Aussie Rules punter, yes please.

It's a southern hemisphere thing. He is on the back page banner.

      Oh well played.

  7. Children of 90s dynasty players shouldn't be going to Iowa. That's just not right :(

@Decoy73:  Trevor Robinson from 10 or 12 years ago.  Went to Notre Dame and played three or four years in the NFL.  (Edit:  But I guess you said skill position.  Trevor Robinson was a OG in college and center in the NFL.)

    3. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

Not a skill player, but Harrison Phillips was great at Stanford and is now at the Buffalo Bills.  Among skill players, Xavier Watts from Burke was another skill player which NU has lost out on, but it's too early to tell how good he will be at Notre Dame.

Jaylin Bradley was an Omaha-area recruit who I thought would be good at Nebraska, but his career never panned out.

I should point out I don't fault any of them at all. It's an indictment on us, I think.

  8. New turf coming.

  9. I know much of Nebraska leans Chiefs, so, a heartly congrats to much of this message board

  10. Thanks Joe Buck for reminding me every 30 seconds how badly the Packers were two weeks ago

  11. As usual GB's defense looks like Nebraska's whenever they play in a big game. *sad*

  12. This game might take five hours.

I'd support college football adopting NFL timing rules, particularly with the sheer amount of passing that happens. I was watching the game with a couple of buddies and from 8:41 p.m. to 8:53 p.m., the game clock went from ~7:10 down to ~5:45. No commercials or anything. Just legitimate on-air time because of clock stops, injuries, reviews, etc.

I think the games are getting to be too long.

    2. CheeseHusker

      CheeseHusker

I actually turned it off. It was the middle of the day here and I just didn't find myself being compelled by anything, let alone the 25 minutes of commercials per hour.

This game is so far removed from the regular season and traditional bowl slots now that it just feels like an afterthought.

I agree with that, too. Not seeing either of those teams for four weeks, having them play a semifinal, and then not seeing them again for another two weeks is just silly.

@CheeseHusker likely some spammer was using multiple Australian IPs and we blanket banned the whole country. I seem to remember something about that from back in the day.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

It's no big deal but I was just thinking "what the heck did I do?"

I doubt the site gets all that much viewing from this part of the world.

@ladyhawke I didn't catch the postgame presser and tuned things out pretty quickly but he looked more p#ssed and disappointed than anyone else walking of the field.

Which is a refreshing change of pace from ho-hum, aww shucks Riley or Bo getting his butt thumped in big games and embarrassing us on the sidelines.

I don't have enough money to bet on football.... it's just as well.

  19. I never know what to feel about a game like this. It feels like they played so well but any time they let their guard down at all, some kind of disaster inevitably happens.

It seems like we have to play literally a perfect game to win, but our opponents don't. Is that just being overmatched, or something else.

There is no room for error for our Huskers.  What the offense creates the defense gives away.

And what the defense creates the offense squanders.

  20. What is it with AFC North games?

Cleveland and Pittsburgh are both trash. The common thread when most things happen in the AFC North, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And that Bengals game too. Seems like all those teams ever do is headhunt.

I am a Bengals fan, but they are a horribly run organization. The whole afc north is a joke.

  21. Is this rock bottom yet? It sure feels like it.

No that comes when Wiscy hangs 100 on us

      Ulty

We've had so many moments over the past 15 years that felt like rock bottom, only to later be proven that yes, it actually can get worse. It is a disaster right now. Horrible. But unfortunately this version of rock bottom can certainly get rock-bottomer.

Well, if we can at least beat Maryland, we'll have improved on last season's win total, at least... :|

  22. Watched the first half again. If Vedral doesn't bounce the ball off his knee, does this game take an entirely different trajectory? It could so easily have been 31-9 or even 35-9 at halftime.

What is it about one stupid thing triggering an avalanche of negative momentum that buries us in the end?

What also stinks is that a couple plays earlier, Frost called a great play on 1st down when he had Vedral fake the QB lead, and Warner was breaking open in the secondary.  Vedral gave up on the route too early, tucked it and ran for a few yards.  That play was set up for a TD with Vedral running the QB lead a couple plays in a row, and Vedral didn't execute.

    3. ZRod

      ZRod

Like @4skers89 said, Scott called it at the beginning of the season. This team isn't good enough to have a large margin of error. One or two mistakes they could over come, but when something happens almost every drive... There isn't enough talent on this team to dig us out of that.

    4. Toe

      Toe

Yeah, I said to someone after the game, for all the large and small errors in that game, the biggest thing that it came down to was two turnovers vs one. Turnovers are something you always strive to control, but some of them are always gonna be kinda fluky, like having the ball hit the QB's knee, or having a tipped pass somehow land right in the arms of a defender laying flat on his back.

  23. I should have known what to expect after my VPN crapped itself and wouldn't allow me to DVR the game.

  24. Ireland. I like it. Maybe we can get one of those Gaelic dudes to kick field goals.
