Are hospitals getting a federal payment for each Covid-19 death?

@commando that wasn't really called for. Nuance seems to have genuine questions and is brave enough to ask them in a public forum. Some people haven't followed this as close as others, and may not understand it as well as you do. Being a jerk doesn't really encourage them to learn more.
As to your hospice death @NUance, if she had COVID-19 odds are it accelerated her condition and was at least partially responsible for her death. I would trust the doctor's diagnosis (that's what they trained for). There are a number of symptoms and complications related to COVOD-19, one of which is cardiac issues as was noted before.
If you're a hemophiliac who is shot and bleeds-out did you die from hemophilia or a gunshot wound?

I just can't believe how many of you think it's perfectly fine for a guy to bail out on his teammates, his coaches and his fans because he missed winning the starting job by a hair's breadth. It makes me realize how little I have in common with you. And frankly, I'm glad I have very little in common with you. Good day, sirs.

How many people will die in the U.S. from Covid-19?

@Redux If you're pinning your hopes on treatments being found in a timely manner, well, good luck with that...

There are owls in my neighborhood and they make a heck of a racket in the evenings this time of year. Probably having owl sex. Or talking owl smack.

Are there really people taking Donald Trump seriously as a candidate? REALLY?? /shakes head

Miracle. The 1980 U.S. Olympic gold in hockey. All time top 5 sports movie or not? What sports movies are better?

I feel regret for not including A League of Their Own on my list. I only own like five DVDs and that's one of them.
@Xmas32 great call on Vision Quest. Completely forgot about that movie.

For me a sports movie (or any movie for that matter) is only as good as its music score. My top two would be
Hoosiers and The Natural. I also liked Chariots of Fire.
I also think that it depends on the sport you like. Breaking Away is one of the best sports movies for me because I love cycling.
Rocky was ok but they killed it by making so many sequels. Sandlot is also a nostalgic favorite. I also have to give a nod to
The Pride of the Yankees w/Gary Cooper. Incredible classic.
Miracle was very good but when you’ve experienced the real thing a movie has a hard time measuring up although the coach’s real life wife said Kurt Russell did such a great job playing her husband it was like having her husband there again.

Wish they'd do that format more often where they have a panel of coaches commenting on a game. 1000% better than announcers. It's like a graduate level college course on college football. Awesome!

Oh, this heat wave. It's hotter than two lesbians in a cucumber patch.

Will you be satisfied with Frost if we go 6-6 regular season this year? How many wins is acceptable?

Do you know anyone personally who has died from Covid-19?

@ZRod where do you live at, if you don't mind me asking? At least in Lincoln/Omaha, I haven't heard anything about antibody tests being available. Would take one in a heartbeat if offered...
But hey, the state is open for business next week!

@Atbone95 Detroit metro.
Some of the hospital systems here are offering them to employees to further their research. It's a catch 22 though because they've treated their employees pretty s#!tty at some hospitals. Makes you wonder; do you really want to make them look good, and could they use it against you to make you work a positive floor or overtime.

Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

I've heard 8 glasses of water per day is supposed to be good for you. Have you ever tried it? It's a LOT of water.

A programmer’s wife tells him: “Run to the store and get a loaf of bread. If they have eggs, get a dozen.“

Well, if "get" encapsulates the entire "run to the grocery store and purchase x loaves of bread" action, then the statements would execute in sequence and he'd make 3 trips and get 3 loaves.
If each statement is merely specifying the quantity of the getting, the latter two statements are redundant since he will get one loaf of bread in all circumstances.
Phrased this way, though, it sounds a lot more like the former than the original joke. But that...

Who to vote for? That's the question. I don't like *any* of the candidates.

I think Takoda has it figured out. I can't personally get behind Trump but I sure can see why some people have chosen to go with him as their misguided way of expressing displeasure with the way things are. I don't think that equates to people thinking he would be a good President. At least I hope nobody really feels he would be good.

With all the violence, wars, terrorism, and killing that goes on every single day, why is the Gianforte body slam such a huge deal? Sure Gianforte was clearly, CLEARLY, way out of line. But are reporters free to do anything to get a reaction?

@Comfortably Numb oh trust me. There's no reasoning with him. That's not the only thing he believes that is strange. Lots of conspiracies with this one. And I'd say his parents are the ones not educating him, not me. I tend to ignore him and not entertain his ramblings.

It's nice not having negative newbie crew here, dancing all over the board and polluting every thread. Well, not many of them posting today, anyway.

You didn't prove anything wrong. I'm sure you think you did because you just aren't getting it. I don't mind people who are of the opinion that Riley or Banker or whoever/whatever sucks. Hell I probably agree with most of them. I just don't want to see it 100 times in every frikken topic. If you can't understand that, it's your cognitive function that is impaired. It's got nothing at all to do with agreeing with me as you keep wrongly claiming.

Ipad or ultrabook?

I talked to the folks at AT&T last night. (No Apple store in my tiny hometown. lol). They said I could take an iPad Pro 10.5" out for a 14 day trial. (Could return it if I want w/i the 14 days.) The iPad hardware would come at a steep discount if I buy it from the AT&T store--so long as I sign my firstborn away with a couple year AT&T contract. (I already use AT&T anyway.)

Re-Surface. We were not happy about giving up our Dell laptops because they were a solid piece of equipment. The Surface Pro was so flimsy. We couldn’t transfer the data from the Dell to the Surface very easily and when you took the keyboard off and just used the Pad-nightmare. I will confess that there was emotion present and I’ve never been a Microsoft fan having always used Apple products except for very early on when we used Atari.
You have to buy what fits your computer style and usage. If you are a Microsoft user then you will love Surface Pro. However, I’m glad you get to try the iPad.

I've flip-flopped on this thing a couple times now. The iPad can handle a lot of basic work stuff; MS Word, Excel, etc. But iPad doesn't have a couple of programs that I use a lot. Like Outlook (email) and Visio. I could replace Outlook by simply getting used to a new email application. No big deal. But I have dozens, maybe hundreds of Visio files that I've drawn and sometimes need to edit. That would more of a hassle. OTOH, the iPad tablet capabilities with the pen and all would be useful and sorta cool. So there's that.

If LP was a recruit this year, and you knew his character, would you want him if there was a 50/50 chance Riley could straighten him out to be a decent citizen?

@NUance IMO, I can’t believe they overturned it. I thought for sure it would’ve stayed with the call on the field.
