  1. Increase in vertical jump of 13.5' with another 30 lbs of muscle. That IS incredible.
  2. Now that I’ve seen the pictures of Corey Kipp’s hand I think the kid-—and the KU program in general—-are bigger woosies than I previously thought. I’ve had blisters worse than that from a summer job I held during my college years. I didn't go crying to the owners trying to get my foreman fired.
  3. I said this when it happened, and I’ve not changed my opinion after reflecting on it for a couple of months: The Kansas Jayhawks are softbellied pussies for firing Mark Mangino. He was a great coach--probably the best thing that happened to KU football. In over a century. So what if he ranted and raved, swore like a sailor, belittled players, chest-poked, grabbed facemasks, and instituted unreasonable punishments. Jayhawks football wouldn’t be anything close to the team they are today if Mangino had coached in a kinder more gentle manner. Sheesh. The whole university needs to grow a nutsack.
  4. Wow, UConn! The Lady Huskers beating UConn would be about as big as former Husker Rulon Gardener beating Aleksandr Karelin. A sports upset of monumental proportions. It could happen. That's why they play the game.
  5. With all the chaos at huskerpedia, right now would be an opportune time to start a new Husker website. That is, if you can figure out a niche that is not being addressed already.
  6. I am. See above. And sure, it is a tremendous leap in logic. But it's the offseason. So it's all good.
  7. I love the enthusiasm. You may be correct, but I didn't know that we knew anything about Washington, Martinez or Spano in real game situations. How are you making this prediction? So where does Zac fit into your prediction? Non-factor or second string? Last season it seems like everybody evaluated Cody Green-—and downgraded him—-as if he had been in our system for two or three years. Aside from Tommie, when is the last time we had a true freshman QB who looked better? I was impressed with what I saw from Cody Green getting his first game snaps as a true freshman. I think Green has the stuff of be a Div. I rock star. The guy has good speed, and runs like an I-back. He has nice size, and a rocket arm. Granted, he needs a bit more poise to work through his progression. But I think that will come as he works out with the ones during spring. I'm high on Cody Green. I think he will be the next great Husker QB. Cheers to Cody Green! /NUance downs a tall, cold glass of off-season Cody Kool-Aid./ As for Zac, who knows. I don't think that off-season surgery is going to help his decision making abilities. He will be a solid backup.
  8. I think Cody Green emerges to be the man. Sure he looked rattled last season. People seem to forget that he was a true freshman. A TRUE FRESHMAN. That’s what a true frosh looks like when he takes the reigns for the first time in the midst of the Big 12 schedule. The reigns of a struggling offense, no less. Cody is going to look like a seasoned vet this year. I’m betting that Taylor Martinez, Kody Spano and Latravis Washington don’t even come close to unseating Cody Green at #1. And we will forget what Zac Lee looked like last year. Actually, we will block it out of our memory.
  9. Turns out that the www.huskerpedia.com url is owned by Information Superbrand, Inc., an outfit based in Irvine. And all this time I thought it was Max's website.

    The 40

Partly due to hand-held measurement. But partly due to exaggeration. HS kids (and their coaches) even exaggerate their height and weights.
  11. That is fantastic! Congrats to your sis for making the Junior World team! She looks too cute to be a top athlete. (I hope you don’t take that the wrong way.)
  12. Interesting take. However, I would put "coaching" in general into game-planning, because I really don't see how you can not involve coaching in game-planning. Practices, playcalling, strategy, coaching insight, etc. all go into game-planning imho. If you go by my definition, then game-planning is far more important. Your definition makes recruiting seem more important. Second of all, I don't think your scenario in an above post is overly fair. You're comparing a team like WKU to Alabama. There are so many things that differentiate those two programs. Alabama has more revenue, a huge T.V. market, the ability to get the best coaches in the world, larger student body, more fan support across the U.S., etc. etc. Sure, Alabama obviously has more talented recruits, but they also have far better coaches as well. I would believe recruiting was better if this didn't exist: upsets. Appalachian St. had recruits that Michigan wouldn't have even taken a second look at in 2007, yet A St. beat Michigan in Michigan's house. Same with Boise State beating Oklahoma a few years ago. Even though OU had better recruits, Boise State beat them, trick plays or not. All in all, both aspects are extremely important, and saying one is significantly more important than the other is naive. However, in a battle of matched teams (as far as talent level is concerned) the better gameplanner will be your victor. +1. And in a battle of equally adept coaching staffs, the team with the most talent (read: recruiting) wins. Both are important, like Enhance said. A staff that can pull in top recruits but can’t coach/gameplan won’t last long. Like Charlie Weis or Ron Zook, for example. On the other hand, good coaching begets success in recruiting. This is the direction the Pelini bros are heading, I think.
  13. Bruce Mathison. QB, good arm, loads of talent. Never saw the field---in college, that is. Didn’t play much because he was a pro-style QB at NU in the early 80s. Sat on the bench behind Turner Gill. Went on to play five seasons in the NFL. Starting QB one year for Buffalo.
  14. I’m in favor of basic research, but the sums spent on this collider make me wonder whether it’s worth it. That, and I wonder about its usefulness as a research tool. Trying to understand subatomic particles with a supercollider is like trying to understand how a piano makes music by examining the pieces left after dropping it off the Sears Tower.
  15. Curtis Tomasevicz’ gold medal in the bobsled got me to thinking. I’ll bet we could field a pretty good bobsled team from ex-Huskers, in their prime of course. After Tomasevicz, my bobsled dream team would be: Ahman Green Demorrio Williams Johnny Mitchell Trev Alberts
  16. The guy has a noggin too. Tomasevicz was Academic All Big 12. In electrical engineering, no less.
  17. First Jr. Day netted UT 15 of Texas' finest. Their 2nd Jr. day is tomorrow, 2/27. Shouldn't be too hard for them to fill out their recruiting needs for the year by the time March Madness gets underway. Those UT bastages...
  18. Sure, Hannah Storm does not look like the airbrushed 22 year old honeys in all those magazines of yours hidden under your twin sized mattress—you know, the magazines with all the pages stuck together for some reason. But in my book she is hot. Especially for a chick who knows that three-gap techniques don’t refer to ways of taking it up the butt. Looks like she has man hands Those big ole mitts would be good for handling large packages and junk.
  19. The Rams aren’t one player in any spot away from being competitive-—DT, QB, or whatever. The Rams have too many needs and not enough cap room to address them. Suh would help them out more this year than Bradford because Suh could contribute. But no way the Rams make the playoffs regardless of who they draft. What would help the Rams the most is trading that first pick for a first and a second, or a pick and a player. More and more I'm beginning to believe they'll trade that pick to increase the overall value of their draft. The worst thing they could do is take a QB #1, pay him that money, put him in a game with that porous O Line and ruin the first couple of years of his career. Yeah, the Rams have a half dozen holes to plug on their team. Drafting Suh could plug one (a real BIG one). Or trading Suh could plug three or four. They need to find a current day Mike Ditka with a Ricky Williams-esque coach-crush on Suh and trade for a bunch of picks.
  20. That could be anything. Hate to see a kid lose his scholie. But ya gots to follow the rules.

  22. Anyone here read this book, "Draft Season"? Is it worth a read, or not?
  23. Sure enough. That was Corso alright. But he was still coaching. Lee Corso coached Northern Illinois to a 4-6-1 record in 1984. link
  24. Maybe Rich Rod should be a bit more vigilant in the future if he want to keep his fat paycheck. Either that or he could just start winning games.
