  1. Grassy knoll? We're just having a discussion. This isn't aggravated or heated at all. For the record I agree with you completely. Looking at the teams we have to choose from, it's a complete crapshoot on where to put anyone. Oh, I don’t think your discussion was aggravated or heated at all. But conspiracy theories of blatant bias seemed to be sneaking in from both (opposite) perspectives. That, and I just wanted to make a post with that little banana guy riding the llama (whatever that means?) Here he is again:
  2. / Looks under the bus at mangled bodies of Bo Pelini and Shawn Watson. Shakes head and walks away. /
  3. I see your point, but I would say this, having them ranked #12 is much more of a joke than not having them ranked at all. What did the coaches poll have them at #23, #24 something like that. So I would argue any one in a position as those in this poll that ranked NE above #18 is wrong. Although I belive #18 would be WAY to high, I would give room for a 4-5 team swap. But #12, thats just stupid. For all we know Forde has them at 26 or close to that. He has said he thinks CU will win the north and he has them at #22. He may be wrong. But atleast he has his reasons for doing it that way and stuck to it. More than can be said for Ivan Okay, both of you put your keyboards away and come down from the grassy knoll. A range of rankings from 12th to >25 is entirely reasonable for preseason rankings from different sportswriters. Look at Neutred Dame, their ranking mirror our own very closely. NU: 12, 16, 18, 20, NR ND: 11, 14, 15, 19, NR
  4. ESPN loves LP. They must. He gets front page at every turn of his downward spiral.
  5. Looking at pics from NU fan day and the first couple of practices, a few Huskers have mohawks too. Mostly linemen I think.
  6. If Meechicken doesn’t win more than 5 games (likely) then Rich Rod better get asbestos seat cushions. He’ll be on the hot seat for sure.
  7. It was nice to see a walk-on get mentioned, too. I wish I would've watched Gill/Brown more in the CFL..Seems like one or both were leading the league in receptions before Brown got hurt. Gill was a much better passer than most people thought. Huh? Turner Gill was a walk-on???
  8. It’s a flip of the coin whether we beat OU or not. No I mean really, CFN’s research staff flips a coin to come up with these things.
  9. Some recruits/parents read message boards and some don’t. Some post on boards. If you were a HS player with D1 football talent and were researching teams where you might play college ball, would you read message boards? I would. Didn't one of the NU coaches mention this topic in the 202 talks?
  10. Griffin, Griffin, Griffin, yada, yada, yada. The last time I looked there were 11 players on a team. Baylor won’t be a pushover at home, but we can handle them.
  11. Yeah, D is too harsh. C would have been about right. If we had scheduled a halfway decent school from a BCS conference for the fourth game our OOC schedule would be ideal. Like if we played a team like Purdue or maybe Maryland instead of Louisiana-Lafayette.
  12. Oh cornshucks, you're on to me. I just started following NU football a couple months ago. From now on I’ll only look at guys from rural Nebraska schools with no other offers.
  13. 5'10", 200 lbs, 4.5 40. Rushed for 3,073 yards and scored 33 touchdowns in past two yrs. He graduates in December.
  14. Just noticed your name: "nemajordude" That has to be one of the coolest handles I've seen on any Husker board, NEmajordude. sorry to get off topic.
  15. Flakey? Depends on where he lost those pants. If lost in Pound, Sandoz or Smith (coed dorms) then his reputation might jump a notch or two.
  16. Good luck to ya Keeston. (But secretly I hope he has to sit next to Mangino at the training table.)
  17. The mere fact that we have a similar number of recruits to Iowa St/CU in August says absolutely nothing about how the 2010 recruiting class will end up as compared to the Clowns and Buffies. If we have four recruits in November then I'll start to get worried.
  18. Good idea. Maybe sperm bank deposits would keep them from going into arrears in their other affairs.
  19. I really don't think people don't support it. Just like the article up above points out, college is expensive. If someone can get a scholly to another school, they are now taking it to cheapen up college rather than walking on at NU and having to foot the entire bill. A guy from my hometown had full rides to Wyoming and Colorado State. He walked on at NU and saw very little playing time. His dad once told me the thousands upon thousands of dollars it cost him for that decision. It's a tough decision if you're that calibur of athlete. I can't really argue against or support either decision. One would almost have to lean towards going to the school with the scholarship especially if there's going to be a huge burden of school loans to pay back after graduating. All true. And I can understand their perspective—both parent and player. I guess I was speaking more in terms of some fans I knew who were in favor of getting rid of the walk-on program a couple of years ago when this issue came up. I couldn’t understand it then, and can’t understand it now. Seems like each year a couple of starters began their career as walk-ons.
  20. shifty Next Person: Neil Smith (named above, but his answer was messed up)
  21. Back on point, I guess I don’t understand why anyone would *not* support the walk-on program. Every year we have a couple of starters who began as walk-ons. It saves us the cost of a scholly (a huge benefit) until we know for sure the player is going to pan out. It is a competitive advantage for us.
  22. I am curious - how do people "double post"? Is it your internet provider or what? I don't think I ever have. If I get into a post I don't want, I "back arrow" out of it and it isn't put on the board. I am not trying to be mean, just wondering. A couple of times after I made a post I’ve gotten a message that said something like “server disconnected.” So I hit the back button and trying posting again. Usually the post gets made then, but a couple of times it resulted in a double post.
  23. After he has been posting here for about two years. Age 6.
