  1. Such a great scene!  I think RW was a better actor than comedian

I agree. He was exceptional in GWH and should have won the Oscar for Best Actor for Dead Poets Society.

I did not think about that but you are right.  Was he nominated for Dead Poets?  I don't remember...wow so I just looked up the 1990 Oscars...WOW.  I personally think Morgan Freeman should have won best actor for Driving Miss Daisy but Williams winning would have been just fine with me.

Then for best supporting actor...Washington winning makes sense, he was great, but Aykroyd in Driving Miss Daisy was sooooooooooo good.

I don't watch the Oscars anymore. The crap Holkywood has been cranking out the past few years has been awful. All we get are tired remakes or yet another sequel to something that's been done to death.  I prefer some of the British films that are out right now. Foreign films tend to pay more attention to character development than domestic films do.  Just my opinion.

  2. Every year we do our "soap" scrimmage (I hate that term) and we have done it different ways. But my favorite way that we have done is is either with a captains draft or we (the coaches) draft the teams. We want them as even as possible, I would rather have competition. I think competition makes you better.
  3. Yeah, I agree...it is like when one head coach jocks up another head coach...even though the head coach he is jocking up is horrible. They stick together. I think S&C coaching is more about the attitude and accountability part...in the end a bench press rep at NU is the same as it is at every school.
  4. Ahhhh, the guilt trip followed by the nasty...I don't blame you for not wanting that. If it gets to that just leave.
  5. Good question, I am not sure how he did it but I would guess he will run it as close to a game as he can.
  6. What kind of drama? She wasn't mean about the other person leaving, was she?
  7. I want the gray sweatshirt... "Now I have a machine gun...HO HO HO"
  8. I get that but it doesn't take "time and patience" to beat NW, IL, Minny, Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Iowa...It doesn't take time and patience to win your crappy non-conference games. The 9 wins (our patience) are there...the rest of it...beating Wisconsin or Michigan or OSU or PSU or MSU (I don't think much of them actually) that is where there might need to be some time.

  10. The more I think about it...the more I remember this. I worked with a guy who was basically "the guy" had been there 35 years everyone knew and loved him, he was amazing at his job and with all the workers...I remember thinking, "Man, when he leaves it will be tough to replace him" Turns out...it wasn't, within about a month everyone stopped mentioning his name and no one seemed to remember him, least of all my boss. So while you might think it is a big deal, because you are a normal person like most of us, your boss won't give a f#*k. She/he will replace you and you will be forgotten about shortly. I guess what I am saying is just tell her/him you are leaving and don't worry about it because she/he won't be worrying about it either.
  11. So true... It is J-school 101... 1. Start with positive articles when things still seem positive. 2. Get a nice fan base 3. Start with negative articles when things start to seem negative. If you skip step 1 and 2...you end up being run out of town.
  12. Oh I totally agree with you...I just think that how the coaches are is how the older players will be too...if that makes sense. A few years ago I got tossed into a HC position because of some bulls#!t that went on and I did a really crappy job. I let the good players skip practice (basically on their own word) when they were hurt or dinged up...but really looking back on it they just didn't want to practice. We had a s#!tty season...had I been better with them and had they been better leaders (if I had been a better leader for them) I think we would have been a bad ass team. But they saw an easy way out and took it...I set a bad tone and they followed it. I wish they had been badasses since I sucked.
  13. I love ripping on the last staff, probably more than anyone and I am probably the best at it...but...weight room stuff is more on the players. When you are a freshmen in HS and start lifting you usually get in a "team" with older kids, juniors and seniors that will basically hold you to task...it needs to be that way. Also...Riley stinks
  14. Big Ten is the worst I have ever seen it...NU is posed for a minimum of 9 conference wins.
  15. Riley's recruiting made me sad...Frost's recruiting makes me happy

  16. For awhile, not sure if he still is, he was the international scouting guy. Roby has as much chance of playing in the NBA as I do...but anymore, playing overseas is a nice gig. I had a coaching friend/teaching friend that played for KU in the 80's then played on two 10 day contracts in the NBA but played for awhile in Brazil. He was making about really good coin out there plus all expenses paid. Now, that was only during the season but still.
  17. Fran is just a really positive guy!
  18. Fran!!! He said the same stuff about Tai!
  19. That sucks...when does that cut start?
  20. I left one job where I loved my boss, I told him, we shook hands we made jokes it was great... I have left a job where my boss was/is one of the worst people I have ever met. I did the same thing. But I did it while gritting my teeth. Had I said the things I wanted to say I would still be there saying all the things I had to say. Sorry that doesn't help more.
