Who was the reporter? I remember this story kind of being a thing but I never really heard exactly what happened. I'll give Carl a pass though cuz he was probably coked up. Bo on the other hand. No excuse. The story is fiction and in the fictional story it wasn't a reporter but it was a booster. The story gets more amazing every time it gets told. There is another good one of Bo being "kicked out" of his sons middle school basketball game when he went crazy on the refs, of course, there is no video of it even though clearly that would be big news. Also there is the one of Bo and Carl finding out the true names of posters and stalking them.I though it was soccer, or was it baseball? I have heard it with basketball and I think I heard baseball/softball. I also heard how he "cut off" a poster (4.6.3) on the Rivals Board. He cut off the poster and flipped him off.

Judging from the original article, it might not have been voodoo brainwashing by Bo, like some claim. Rather, the lack of buy-in might have been more from Banker not having his sh#t together, and possibly a couple of other staff members as well. And it's weird that a lot of this thread still took the time to bash Gerry. I am not saying Gerry was perfect as a Husker or a teammate. But, these players aren't stupid. If Banker and his staff didn't have their crap together, that blame goes to the coaches Also, looking back at Riley's defensive staff that first year at NU, it is becoming more and more of a clusterf*ck. Hughes, Banker, and Stewart are all fired/gone. That's 3/4 of the defensive staff from the first year. Yet, the blame was put on guys like Collins, Valentine, Banderas, and Gerry for doing their own thing. It's probably more of crappy coaches having a crappy defensive plan. That's because you're forgetting the biggest point. If we don't like the coach, everything is 100% the coaches fault and nothing should be blamed on the players. If we like the coach, we have to go out of our way to blame everything on the players. This is so true!

Enhance...when a new coach comes in (unless that new coach was Zombie Devany) the fans have to start with built in excuses for that coach right away. The easy one is "cupboards are bare" It not only makes it seem like the new coach was left with nothing but small, slow walk-on's from Coltonberg NE and Dirksville Ne but it also gives a nice parting shot to the last coach. For Riley, his first season turned out so amazing bad (maybe unlucky too) that other things needed to be used as well: Tanking, Toxic, Mind controlled by Bo, still in contact with ex-coaches that were bagging on new staff and so on. That is why this year is great. There are no more lame excuses left. Riley has made all the right moves (great movie) after his rough start.

Heck, Riley doesn't even have another two years if things go really bad this year. Probably wrong in that assumption as well. Riley has at least two years based on last year's recruiting and this years'. SE we'll give him a couple of years to develop talent... Something he proved he could do at Oregon State but hasn't had the time to do at Nebraska. His recruiting has been less than impressive so far. SE loves SE more than he loves MR...if it comes down to it SE will save himself first...as we all would.

Yeah, I don't know why they shortened the season when the last episode easily could have been told in two episodes for more depth and emersion. There was more than enough backstory going on, which was just skipped over, to make two very interesting episodes. Did the writers change or something? Seems like they're not as interested in the setup anymore like zoogs pointed out. Maybe just because of production costs and time? I don't know, HBO seems to LOVE short seasons.

Sure he has had those thoughts. It is like if you are in sales, you don't hope that the next call you make is a really tough one...you hope it is an easy sale. I am not furious, I just said I see them with 9 conference wins.

I have thought about this topic a bit more and as some of you know I am a bad coach and have been a bad coach for a very long time. I plan to continue being bad at coaching for a long time. But I have had the chance, numerous times, to get people on my staff (ha) and more times than not I have brought in friends and/or people I felt comfortable with even if they were not the best "coaching" choice. Once I brought it guys that were probably more coaching competent and it turned into the worst two seasons of my life. Now, I wasn't getting paid what Riley gets paid but I can still see where he was coming from. I loved coaching with my buddies, loved it.
