  1. By all means, you have the right to call me arrogant. But would you really call the #5 class in the nation not great recruiting. Whatever he did, he sold Nebraska to recruits and he was able to do that well. I have hope that Pelini will be able to do the same within the next three years. I think that people look at Callahan and look at his record. Records don't tell the whole story. Although I hope that no one ever suffers from his terrible wrath as a bad head coach, from my perspective he would be a good OC at the college level. Getting back on topic, there are worse head coaches out there than Billy Callahan who aren't good in ANY aspect of coaching...cough cough Dan Hawkins cough cough......
  2. Teacher, although I completely understand your perspective of how losing seasons should never have occurred and he couldn't develop players for his life, you have to look at the one aspect he was good at. He doesn't deserve to be on this list but rather on the "considered" because of his recruiting abilities. Terrible coach but great recruiter. Many coaches on there have neither.
  3. Dude ahaha completely different movie. You're thinking of I love you man. Oh wow, I completely made myself look like a dumb*ss. Haha nice laugh anyways, the image that I have when I think of Yes Man is the end where everyone is nude because Jim asks everyone to donate their clothes.
  4. Funny movie, still remember when main character is trying on some tux's (how do you spell tux except plural?) and a guy that he had gone on a "man-date" shows up calling him a wh*re for forgetting the special night they had together. Hillarious movie, people should watch it if they haven't.
  5. Jets sign sixth-round pick OL Slauson The Associated Press Posted: Tuesday, May. 19, 2009 NEW YORK The New York Jets have signed offensive lineman Matt Slauson, their sixth-round pick out of the University of Nebraska, to a four-year deal. Slauson, the first of the Jets' three draft picks to sign, is expected to add depth and versatility on the offensive line. The 6-foot-4, 340-pound Slauson has practiced mostly at right guard in mincamp with the Jets, where he started during his senior season at Nebraska. He also has experience playing at both tackle spots. Quarterback Mark Sanchez, the fifth overall pick, and running back Shonn Greene, a third-round pick, haven't signed yet, but are participating in organized team activities this week. The Jets waived cornerback Tyron Brackenridge, who signed in February. Good thing too I thought. Slauson was one of the bigger guys and he was one of the people I actually expected to make it. Still kinda stinks about how Ganz didn't make it, looks like he is bound to a different route now. Good luck to Slauson.
  6. i think he clearly sees all the quarterbacks we have. We have Green who will have 4 years of eligibility after his redshirt, Spano a redshirt-freshman, Washingtion who might redshirt, and Zac Lee who is only a junior this year. Would he rather come here or go to Kansas where he as a MUCH better chance of starting after Reesing leaves. If it was me, I would be in love with Kansas because of their qb situation.
  7. Nebraska is situated in Nebraska. The fact that we are on top of his list is a great thing. The thing is no matter how stacked we are, we should take kids that have obvious talent. I wouldn't really call WR stacked as of right now since we are breaking in new receivers and don't know their talent level as of right now. I really hope that we pull this kid fast. I would praise Gilmore if he is able to do it.
  8. Okay, I understand your point about about Cody Green needing to redshirt, but I don't agree with it just yet. As far as I know this kid is pretty good. But to judge him based on the spring game is ridiculous. We take that scrimmage so seriously, we actually believe it is a display of our talent. We have MONTHS to go and the fact that some people are already saying just give him a redshirt undermines his talent. As far as Zac Lee being the better quarterback, for now he is. The only reason for that is he knows the offense better. But does he have the potential to grow anymore? Maybe he does, and maybe he will show it this year. But I THINK, not know: He has reached his peak and he won't grow. Comparing Pryor to Green is useful. Pryor grew really fast in the system he was in and unseated the senior starter. If Green can make a few things happen over the summer, I am all for him starting. I know how a lot of people feel on this board about redshirting and so on. To me though, we only need redshirting on those who aren't big enough and good enough to play. Saying Green will redshirt, thats a little early for me. We will see how that works out though. GBR
  9. He had so much going for him, but had to act stupid. People are born with natural talent but waste it. He had things likes this coming this way since he was a husker. Still kinda sad how Dr. Tom even gave him an extra chance. Football is Football in Nebraska.
  10. To the people saying that these polls are useless: I don't think that these are useless because when we are ranked in the preseason, it gives players some hope for better things to happen. These polls mean squat to me, but could you honestly say that you wouldn't work harder if you had something to fight for. If you have something to uphold. Granted I don't play football but I do run. I know that if I am ranked in the 2 mile, I am going to try that much harder to beat the people ahead of me and give it my best effort. How much easier is it to get in the top 15 if you are already in the top 25? I think much easier, thinking back to 2007 when we were ranked 14th facing USC. We didn't have a top 15 team but rather enough wins and preseason ranking led to that. These polls are one way to not only to encourage players to show that they are ranked for a reason, but they also help us get onto the national stage.
  11. I think that there are 2 sides to this topic: We are going down the drain if we join Big 10+1: We are already situated in the Big 12 and to change conferences completely would have a lot of side effects. Our claims in Texas would clearly be reduced and that is the main goldmine that we have. A lot of talent resides in that state and we would potentially lure them away from Nebraska since its the Big 10. We can't have that going on. It is also the whole geographical issue which is a major issue to me and to the team. For us to go to Arrowhead Stadium is not very expensive since its pretty close. Imagine going to the Big House in Michigan. That would raise the budget of the team which isn't exactly great. I don't think I am willing to drive that far to see a regular game. Domination : Joining the Big 10 would be a great opportunity for the Huskers. Not only would we be introduced to new recruiting areas (Michigan, Ohio, etc.), but we have a better coach than certain people think. Pelini was able to turn our pretty bad defense into an average one in one year and he wasn't afraid to change. I remember Callahan not willing to change anything even if the season was on the line like 2007. Pelini would be able to adjust to Big 10 play and play competitively. The Big 10 categorization wouldn't be put on us since we would be new to it. Imagine the opponents we play. We could play Purdue, Northwestern, Indiana, Michigan St., Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan. Looking at the terrible competition that is in the Big 10, we could cruise to a 9 or 10 win season every single year and once we start winning recruits come to us which would propel us to compete against Ohio St. and Penn St. Which one would I support? -I would clearly support the first option. Why the hell would we want to be associated with THE Ohio St. They are too cocky for their own good. Bad competition doesn't always lead to good things. Look at how they look at teams like Penn St. One loss to an alright Iowa team and they have no chance at all for the National Championship. If we make any mistakes, we pretty much gain the same reputation as every other team in the Big 10. We will be considered weak and all we supposedly play are cupcakes. Speaking of cupcakes a chocolate chip cupcake sounds good right about now?
  12. Yeah, let's start Green because he's taller!! I probably didn't say it clearly enough. I don't think that Zac Lee is a great quarterback. I think he is a good quarterback but to me clearly not a great one. I see people judging Green based on his spring performance and that is not accurate. He is supposed to still be in high school, I mean seriously this kid is a good quarterback. Give him til fall and I think that the coaches will seriously see something in Green that will give him the chance to get in some games. He has natural talent that can't be taken away. I may be a little high on Green, but for what he has shown in just 1 month I think that he could very possible be the right person for the job coming this Fall. I honestly don't know why people think that the quarterback position is already sealed in Zac Lee's hands. I hope the coaches don't see it as that way.
  13. 9.........................
  14. Honestly this should be locked up. I have seen people argue constantly but this is going to an exteme. We will never know if what happened was serious or not. Lets give this a rest.
