  1. sad to see him go, but we are onto some very good talent with slavin, hawkins, sasser, and carter.
  2. Stanford seems to be in the driver seat FREE SCOUT Article “I’ve been working on narrowing it down this summer,” Beau Allen said. “I’m going to be narrowing it down and hopefully get my top five up by early to mid September.” Allen said that Stanford has a “really good” chance of making that list. “I really like Stanford because they’re obviously a very prestigious academic school, which is always good,” Allen said. “You want to be well educated and set up for life after football if you don’t make it big time. I think Stanford definitely has that to offer. Furthermore, Stanford’s campus is great and it’s in a great location, from what I’ve heard. I’ve never been there but I’ve looked at some pictures online and the campus looks really cool and they’re also a football program on the rise.” Another factor that might be to the Cardinal’s advantage is that Allen has a good chance of contending for early playing time should he end up at Stanford. In recent years the Cardinal have done a very good job of recruiting talented players at the defensive tackle position, leaving an opportunity for interior lineman in the 2010 class to star early. “Obviously, nothing is guaranteed and you have to work to win any position, but they’ve mentioned to me that they are in desperate need of defensive lineman and that is something I do take heed of,” Allen said. Because of that, the Stanford coaching staff is putting the full court press on Allen and his family. “I talk to mostly [offensive line coach] Tim Drevno and Coach Harbaugh,” Allen said. “They’ve been also communicating well with my mom and dad, which I like. It’s good to have your parents on board. The coaches seem like really good guys. I’ve only met Coach Drevno in person and he’s good to talk to, and I’m looking forward to meeting some of the other coaches.” Because of Allen’s status as a priority recruit as a position of need, the Stanford coaching staff has been more than willing to let him take his time in making a decision. While this year’s Cardinal recruiting class only has a few spots remaining, it appears that the staff would accept the four-star prospect’s commitment anytime. “I kind of mentioned to them early on in the process that I was probably going to make my decision after my senior football year and they were fine with that,” Allen said. “They were supportive in saying that I should take my five official visits and everything.” Although Minnesota isn’t known as a traditional hotbed of high school football talent, the Cardinal actually already have a commitment to the 2010 class from a Minnesotan in linebacker A.J. Tarpley, who happens to star for a rival high school. “He actually goes to kind of our rival school,” Allen said. “They’re in our conference and there’s not a lot of love lost between our teams, but A.J. is a really good guy and he’s a really good player.” Interestingly, Tarpley isn’t the only connection Allen has to Stanford. Former Cardinal great and NFL player Willie Howard worked with Allen a few times over the summer. “I actually do know Willie Howard, who’s kind of a coaching mentor of mine,” Allen said. “I did some work with him in the offseason and he’s a really good defensive tackle, so I talked to him a little bit about Stanford. Like I said, he’s also been one of those good solid guys.” So while Allen is clearly familiar with some of what Stanford has to offer, Palo Alto is still almost 2,000 miles from Allen’s home in Minnesota. At this point, Allen is not quite sure if that distance will impact his decision, but hopes to gauge his comfort with being so far away from home when he takes some visits to the West Coast next fall. “I haven’t really thought too much about distance from Minnesota,” Allen said. “That’s kind of something that I’ve got to think about a little more as I go down the line. I think once I visit schools like Stanford, I’ll be able to measure that a little better.” And if Allen likes what he sees enough to make Stanford his college home, he should have no problem passing through the school’s admissions process. A likely business major, Allen is an excellent student who scored a 28 on the ACT to go along with a 3.6 weighted GPA.
  3. George Uko (Chino, Calif./Don Lugo) had a plan to take his official visits in the fall and then make a commitment sometime during the season. Those plans have changed and his decision will now come much sooner. "I plan on committing in August now," Uko said. "I think I might still take my visits just for the experience but I have a good idea of where I want to go right now. My top five schools right now are Tennessee, Cal, Oklahoma, USC and Oregon." Uko said he doesn't plan to narrow his list down to a final two or three but will just pick from his final five. He has yet to visit Oklahoma or Tennessee unofficially and said he doesn't plan to before making his decision so it appears the three Pac 10 schools could be in the drivers seat. "I don't know about that but I guess you could kind of say that," Uko said. "I had a good time visiting all three schools and would fit in well at each of them. Like I said, I have one school in mind right now but I'm just going to sit on it for awhile and make sure I'm doing the right thing." Uko had a big spring during which his stock sky rocketed. He had a standout showing at the SoCal NIKE Camp back in April and was dominant at team camps at UCLA and USC where both Pac 10 schools offered scholarships. Link
  4. You can yet another big-time player who will be visiting Washington Sept. 5 when the Huskies open their season against SEC power LSU. Hayes Pullard (Los Angeles, Calif./Crenshaw), one of the elite linebackers in the West has set up his first official visit and will check out the Huskies. Pullard is a talented two way player who split time at linebacker and running back. He rushed for close to 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns but is being recruited primarily as a linebacker right now. "Washington has been recruiting me hard for awhile now," Pullard said. "I know they have been down but I like the new staff and I know back in the day, they were a dominant program and I've heard how crazy that place can get." The feeling on Pullard has always been he would be tough to get away from the two local schools, USC and UCLA but Pullard said he plans to take all his official visits and isn't shutting any doors right now. "I like those two a lot but I'm not a lock for either of them right now," Pullard said. "UCLA was my first offer and I like the coaches and players on the team a lot. With USC, I'm real tight with Ken Norton and I love the intensity and passion the team plays and practices with. "Notre Dame is another school I definitely want to visit and I'm checking out Stanford, Arizona State and Nebraska too. I'm not sure if I'll officially visit SC or UCLA because they're so close but I'll for sure attend their games and visit the campus for an unofficial visit during the year." Link
  5. New Video edit: watching his video he looks legit. has a lot of yac and looks like he has sure hands, route running appears to be good. i wish he had some video of him blocking. does not appear to be a burner, but could be a viable second option for small-medium range routes. i would definitely be in favor of getting 4WRs this season if we don't get a rb (imagine having carter, sasser, slavin, or hawkins along with terry.
  6. Doesn't look the greatest for NU HuskerJournal Link JULY 29, 2009. PREP STAR GIOVANNI BERNARD, RB, 5-9, 200, 4.5, FT. LAUDERDALE (AQUINAS), FL Giovanni has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma and others. Husker Visit "I’m going to try to, but I’m not actually sure yet.” says Bernard, “They (Nebraska) are trying to get me to visit this fall. I’m not sure if Nebraska is one of my top schools. I haven’t sat down and go over all the schools, but when in feel comfortable with any school I’ll visit.” “I’m going to trim down the list to five schools. I don’t know when I’m going to do that. It could be any day but doubtful.” Bernard said “I like Nebraska,” Bernard said, “They have a good offense. I like how they run the ball. They (Nebraska) are kind of a zone running football team, you use the cut back lanes a lot, find a hole.” “I like coach Beck he’s the running backs coach, I built a really good relationship with him. Nebraska likes how I run and find the holes. They like my agility, pass catching out of the back field. I’m a smart player and know what to do.” Bernard said Giovanni Likes OU “I definitely like Oklahoma, their tradition just a great team. They are always going to be a Championship type of team. Oklahoma runs that zone, half spread that’s what we run at my high school now. So that would benefit me.” Bernard said FSU Visit “I went to Show Time Camp at Florida State but didn’t participate,” says Bernard, “I just went around like an unofficial. It was pretty nice there, loved the town and the coaches are great. Florida State coaches told me I’m on top for the running backs I’m not really going to take that to the head. There are a lot of other running backs out there.” “I visited Florida a while ago and I went to the spring game. I liked the spring game it was packed. I built a good relationship with their coaches, Gonzales and Carter.” “I like Alabama,” Bernard said, “They are one of the three teams I talk to weekly other than Florida State and Florida. Alabama is a great football team, I definitely like them.”
  7. the offer letter from lsu is starting to look less and less likely. they just scored their 21st commit. while it is a rb, their scholarship allotment is starting to dwindle.
  8. Are we moving on from Carter? I heard on 1620 a while back that the coaches hadn't taken a visit to his school during the eval period.
  9. I know he is talented, but there haven't been good things said about his character. I guess it shows that kiffin will take anyone. hey, now... no dissin' on the kids who don't commit to big red. the young man has made his decision: wish him well, hope that he makes the most of his college experience and let that be the end of it. I'm not trying to diss to markeith and i apologize if you got that impression. My main concern is with kiffin's agenda.
  10. I know he is talented, but there haven't been good things said about his character. I guess it shows that kiffin will take anyone.
  11. I hope after 5 NCs we could get this level of talent, but you are probably right. this would be hard to do by anyone. i'm curious is it UF or Meyer? UF was never like this under Zook or Spurrier, or maybe it is because Miami and FSU are down?
  12. Maybe Bo was on to something back then. According to a lot of reputable posters on UF boards he got showed up at FNL. This could be somewhat confirmed in this link where they don't mention him as a standout
  13. I don't know how either but his teammate is going to tech. "Young did lose one his favorite receivers in D.J. Beshears, who earned a scholarship to Kansas, but does have another big-time target in Bud Sasser, who will be playing big-time college football next season as well, possibly with Young in Lubbock." Link
  14. I think the bigger question is, if we have the chance to get some top flight o-lineman in 2011 do we take as many this year?
  15. this is a little off topic, but i can't wait til bo starts pulling in the weekend visitors like UF and their Friday Night Lights. and for those who want to see what i am talking about (to say the least it is impressive): FNL attendees QB Trey Burton QB Marcus Smith QB Jamius Gunsby RB Mack Brown RB Gio Bernard RB Jordon James RB Lache Seastrunk RB Marcus Shaw WR Markeith Ambles WR Kyle Prater WR James Louis WR Kadron Boone WR Chris Dunkley WR Quinton Dunbar WR Ivan McCartney WR Justin McCay WR Darius Millines WR Kenny Shaw WR Ace Sanders WR Senorise Perry TE Michael McFarland TE Charles Fashaw TE Brian Volger TE Blake Barker OL Ian Silberman OL Chaz Green OL Seantreal Henderson OL Brandon Linder DE/DT Richard Ash DE/DT Garrison Smith DE/DT Dominique Easley DT Leon Orr DT Louis Nix DT Sherrif Floyd DE Fre'Shad Hunter DE David Perry DE Corey Lemonier DE Ronald Powell DE Lynden Trail DE Neiron Ball DE Anthony Williams LB Gideon Ajagbe LB Jeff Luc LB Kevin Nelson LB Tony Jefferson LB Khiari Fortt CB Victor Hampton CB Demar Dorsey CB Jaylen Watkins CB Ryan Ayers CB Terrence Brooks CB John Fulton CB Terrence Mitchell CB Cody Riggs DB Demetrius Wright S Jonathon Dowling S Sean Parker P Will Hagerup 2011 recruits QB Teddy Bridgewater QB Christian Lemay RB Shon Carson RB Kion Williams RB Isiah Crowell RB Mike Bellamy WR Sammy Watkins TE Kelvin Benjamin OL La'el Collins DE Bennett Brookman DT Tim Jernigan LB James Wilder Jr. CB Lamarcus Brutus CB Wayne Lyons CB Keelin Smith CB Nick Waisome CB Karlos Williams People in bold are five stars, and as you can tell countless other 4 stars. How long do ya'll think it is going to take for Bo to bring in a list like this? (I'm guessing in 2 yrs)
  16. According to some credible posters on an LSU board, they only have about 5 spots left (2 of those spots are going to go to Reed and Seastrunk if they want it).
  17. because they are the only Big 12 team to make the cut, and if they are out of the way maybe it shores up a greater possibility for Lucas.
  18. Don't know for sure but in a past article it says he is originally from Mississippi, so i'm guessing that some the SEC schools that have offered and in play. Link
  19. Nation's premier inside 'backer Jeff Luc names schools under consideration Under Armour All-American Jeff Luc (Port. St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast), who's holding scholarship offers from coast-to-coast, spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site EyeOnTheTigers.com about the current status of his recruitment. "I'm still considering Florida, Florida State, Georgia and LSU. And maybe some other schools. I don't know. I just want to take my time." Miami-FL, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Ole Miss, N.C. State, Nebraska, Rutgers, Arkansas, Clemson, Auburn, and Georgia Tech amongst others have also offered Luc. As a junior, he posted 119 tackles, nine sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles and four pass breakups. Link
  20. ESPNU 150 Watch List WR Kyle Prater cuts list down to six finalists Highly-coveted pass-catcher Kyle Prater (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West) informed ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com that he has made another cut amongst his list of suitors. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound target is now only considering Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, Illinois, Tennessee and USC. Auburn, Missouri, Michigan and Miami-FL were eliminated from his list of 10. Additionally, Prater plans on taking all five allotted official visits before announcing his decision. Last fall, he caught 60 passes for 948 yards (15.8 average) and nine touchdowns. Maybe if they get him that frees up Lucas for a fight between us and mizzou.
  21. was just bumped down to 5.5 per rivals. I still think he is amazing talent and would like to see him N. does anyone have any updates? Edit found this on article Link. He is the 5th ranked uncommitted guy on Minnesota's board. 1. OT - Seantrel Henderson - ya, I'd love to get the #1 recruit in the country. I guess...if we have to take him 2. CB - Tyrone Bouie - love the way this kid tackles in his videos, I'd really like to see this Florida native choose Minnesota. 3. DT - Beau Allen - Minnetonka native and a top 5 player in the state. 4. WR - Kevin Johnson - teammate of Hasan Lipscomb last year in Houston. Johnson has commited to OK State but there is still time for him to come to his senes. 5. DE - Tobi Okuyemi - Wayzata native and athletic DE. May end up moving to OLB at this level but very good player. 6. WR - Toby Durham - teammate of Tyrone Bouie, three-star receiver 7. S - Isaiah Lewis - attends MarQueis Gray's old high school, the top 25 S has offers from nearly all B10 schools. 8. RB - Marcus Coker - Maryland back who was rumored to have committed but it was just a rumor 9. OLB - Kevin Kisserberth - there are not a ton of offers out there for LBs and this Klein, TX native is one still looking at us. 10. S - Gregory Barksdale
  22. ESPN grade of 67 and New Video Williams is certainly a big dude and he seems to look the part. As a defensive tackle he has a solid get-off. He can be tough to push off the ball though he does need to watch his pad level and not get tall coming out of his stance. He is adequate with his hands, but you would like to see him shoot them more and create better separation. He can plug up a gap, but with his size you would like to see him be more physically dominant at times. He has a solid motor. Displays very adequate flexibility and movement. He can overrun the ball and struggle to change directions. As a pass rusher he has the size to collapse the pocket and disrupt throwing lanes, but needs to stay lower and be more explosive off the ball. Williams is a big guy who can clog things up some against the run, but needs to keep developing his game and squeezing more out of his natural size.
  23. For a lineman its all about burst and surge (short area speed), because it is not 40yds from the line of scrimmage to the man in front of you.
  24. does anyone know how the 4star DE is that is trying to visit?
