  1. NU is out of his top 10, but MU and OU are according to Rivals.
  2. ESPN gave him a 76, and list him as an OG (offensive guard not an "original gangsta", lol jk) Johnson presently plays offensive tackle and although he has the athletic ability for the position his size is not what we like to see at the major level of competition. We feel a move to guard would offer him the best chance for success at the next level of play. Displays good flexibility and initial quickness coming out of his stance; not yet able to overpower defenders but plays with a flat back, rolls his hips with a good base and the leg drive enabling him to sustain and finish blocks very well. Demonstrates the athleticism to block 2nd level defenders and pull / trap; plays on his feet well, with balance and the ability to adjust to movement. Does a nice job reach blocking, maintaining contact and gaining leverage on sprint out protection. Have yet to see him in pure drop back protection. However his foot quickness leads us to believe he should be successful handling quick movement with in and out of the guard box. We feel his playing strength and explosion as it relates to punch and extension will need development. This is an aggressive, tough battler who plays until the whistle blows. Johnson will not be an early starter or impact player, rather time and a red shirt year will allow him to develop his overall strength and size along with the opportunity to polish his technical skills; eventually becoming a solid starter at the BCS level of competition.
  3. Agreed, but if this year follows last year it looks like we will have to wait until the season begins for the defensive commits to fall.
  4. UF leads, but there is a fear amongst UF fans that if DC Strong leaves the program he will likely take Luc with him and some other high profile candidates.
  5. Good hopefully we don't have to worry about playing against Robinson
  6. New Video Don't know what the competition is like in Minnesota, but he looks like a beast on the field.
  7. I think the next commit is going to be Dillon Bonnell, and I'm guessing later this month or early next month.
  8. How sweet would that be??...!! I bet Lucas is the first recruit he calls. I hope Nick Demien as well.
  9. WELCOME MR. GABBERT Gabbert Article Tyler Gabbert commits Quarterback Tyler Gabbert has committed to Nebraska. He becomes the fifth commitment in this Husker recruiting class. "It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up," Gabbert told the Journal Star. Gabbert committed to NU after concluding a visit to Lincoln on Tuesday. "I had Nebraska at the top before the visit so this was almost a reassurance thing. I'm just glad everything worked out the way it did," he said. Of course, Tyler's older brother, Blaine, committed to Nebraska before the 2007. Then came all the chaos of that year and a coaching change. Blaine ended up signing with Missouri, where he'll likely start this year as a sophomore. Tyler got a good taste of Nebraska through his brother's recruitment process. "I've known Coach (Shawn) Watson for a while so that definitely helped a lot," Gabbert said. "Not only is he my position coach and offensive coordinator. He's like my head recruiter. My whole family going through (the recruiting process) a second time, everything I guess was a little smoother. With (Blaine's)experience at Nebraska, I was a little more comfortable Lincoln heading up there for camp and all that."
  10. Found this on another board and thought it was funny.
  11. Well that sucks for them.
  12. They were probably referring to DB Ahmad Dixon who switched to Baylor.
  13. Auburn also commited secondary NCAA recruiting violations during his visit. Imagine that, Auburn cheating. Makes sense
  14. Seastrunk calls Big Cat Weekend "the best ever" Highly touted ESPNU 150 Watch List running back Lache Seastrunk said at an impromptu pep really during Big Cat Weekend at Auburn, "I can't reveal all the information, but you guys will be surprised when I commit (in early January). And I think ya'll might like where I choose." "This is the best ever," Seastrunk continued. "They just welcome you in. I feel the warmth of everyone. I love the environment here and I feel at home." However, he told ESPN affiliate Web site AuburnUndercover.com he's still listening to every school that is recruiting him, "There's nothing I can really say, but every school is still in it. Every school has something great to offer. I'm not shutting the door on anyone, because that's disrespectful." Seastrunk carried 177 times for 1,541 yards (9 average) and 14 touchdowns last fall. As a sophomore, he rushed 130 times for 1,532 yards (11.8 average) and 22 scores. Link Sounds like a tiger, don't know how he plans to 'surprise' when he commits.
  15. JUNE 3, 2009. PREP STAR JONATHAN MINCY, CB, 5-10, 175, 4.4, DECATUR (SOUTHWEST DEKALB), GEORGIA “Right now I have 17 offers,” says Mincy, “I won’t say I have favorites but I’m interested in LSU, Michigan, Wake Forest, Illinois and Ohio State. Those are the schools that I want to see the most.” Likes LSU’S Style Of Play “LSU is known for its fine athletes and I want to be a part of that and I know they put a lot of DB’s in the league and that means a lot to me. I like LSU’s style of play they are known for their physical play and they are known for their speed. I really feel good inside that program.” Mincy said Check Out Big 10 Schools “The reason why I want to know more about Michigan and Ohio State, I know they are the north schools, because I don’t know much about them and want to see for myself. Ohio State hasn’t offered yet but I’m sure it will come soon once I go to camp and they see me.” “I like Michigan’s tradition,” says Mincy, “They are ranked number one in the nation in communications and that’s the type of degree I’m going for. So they are a better fit for me when it comes to my education. Also, Michigan is known for their DB’s” “I went to Ohio State camp last year and their facilities were the best of all the colleges I’ve been to so far. It really stood out for me. Ohio State is known for their football program. I want to be a part of somewhere with a good football program. ” Mincy said “They (Illinois) are one of the newest offers,” Miny said, “Illinois is known for having a lot of DB’s in the NFL. I just want to know more about the program.” “Wake Forest just had one of the top DB’s signed this year. That really made a lot to me. Growing up I knew Wake Forest was a basketball program, but they (football program) do send a lot of DB’s in the NFL” Two Visits To Auburn “I have a lot of interest in Auburn I’ve been there twice, says Mincy, “The Auburn visits were intense. The first time I went it was with my coach when they offered me. Auburn coaches could see me in person, the second time I went down there I went with my mom and uncle those are the two people that will take trips with me. So I brought them down there to get a feel for the environment, feel for the coaches and get the last word in.” Home State Schools “Georgia Tech is 15 minutes away and Georgia is 45 minutes away. So, growing up I went to a lot of Georgia and Georgia Tech games and recently I went to both of their practices. I’m always going to be a fan of them because they are my home schools. I’m trying to learn more about them.” Mincy said “I went to Tennessee’s spring game,” says Mincy, “It was the biggest fan size ever for a spring game that I went to. Just seeing all that orange really stood out.” Mincy said “I like the coaches at Tennessee they are really into the program. They give so much energy when they are coaching. Tennessee coaches care about their players it’s like family.” Mincy added Sooners To Get A Visit “Oklahoma offered me also,” Mincy said, “My mom said the other day how we will go there too for a visit. It might be within a couple of weeks. Oklahoma came in the picture about three weeks ago. I was really happy with that.” Have Interest In Nebraska “My coach just sent a highlight tape to Nebraska. I should be hearing from them pretty soon. My coach has really taking a lot of pride getting all my highlight tapes sent out to every college. I’m really thankful to have him as a coach.” Mincy said “I know Nebraska is a good powerhouse team and I know they are of on the most physical teams out there. I watched Nebraska a lot of games and I really liked their style of play. If they would offer I wouldn’t mind checking them out.” “I would have a favorite when it comes to conference but the Big 12 has improved the last two years. I’m open all around. I’m not worried how far it is I just want to feel comfortable with the environment.” Mincy said Commit Time “I’m going to take my official visits during the football season. I want to get everything cleared up thru the clearinghouse so everything is finalized. I don’t know when I will commit. If I feel comfortable with a school during my summer visits then I will commit.” Mincy said he has already visited Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Ole Miss this spring and would like to see a bunch more schools this summer. 16. FREE Article on Rivals Josh McCuistion SoonerScoop.com Associate Editor While Victor Burnett already held offers from schools like Arizona, California, Arizona State, Nebraska, Washington, and several others he can't deny that when he got one of his most recent offers he couldn't help but get a bit excited. For the 6-foot-1, 225-pound four-star linebacker it was not only the surprise of the moment that swept him up but how quickly everything came together for him. "I guess my coach kind of knew about it. He told me to call coach Brent Venables and I tried a couple of times but couldn't reach him. Coach Venables said his phone was messed up so he didn't know when I was calling him," Burnett said. "So I thought it was just they were evaluating me. "The other day I tried him before I went to school and I finally got to talk to him. I got the news. I was driving but if I wasn't I would have been jumping around." It was an interest that Burnett admits shouldn't have surprised him after he let one of his Culver City, Calif. coaches know of his interest in hearing from the Oklahoma coaching staff. And apparently the drawing of attention has worked out well for both sides as Burnett already admits a fondness for his would-be position coach. "I expressed to one of my coaches my interest in Oklahoma and they pursued them for me. Oklahoma saw my tape, they evaluated it and this was my second time talk to (Venables)," he said. "He seems like a good person to get to know. Just off the two times I've talked to him you can tell he is excited about me and I'm excited to get to know him. "He is an energetic person, he can make you love the school." Aside from a relationship with his future coaches Burnett says that he only has a few criteria to distinguish one school from another. However those criteria are well defined in his mind. It seems that for what Burnett knows about the Sooners to date, they meet the stipulations nicely. "My criteria for a school is a competitive school, a place that I can compete for and want to play," he said. "Oklahoma, you can't really get better than that. It's one of those teams that produce NFL players that go to the next level," Burnett explained. "They've been to four out of the last nine national championships. It's one of the biggest stages in football. It's a great chance just to show what I can do really. That's one of the schools that I see competing every year in a big conference. "Also, it's about what degree I get and also just the atmosphere. I know it's a totally different atmosphere from Berkeley to Oklahoma. I know in the south there is a lot of hospitality and that's something you jump off the bat with. "Some stuff I know about Oklahoma but a lot of stuff that I'm not in the know about I'm really going to pursue. Oklahoma is up there in my top priority list. I'm about to really start researching Oklahoma." Burnett says the hospitality that most areas around the Big 12 region are well known for is a real draw for the free-speaking Burnett. "I'm open with people, I'm currently the school president. I like making changes where it's a bad situation. I'm not a person to be inside of a shell," he said. While a few schools stand out for Burnett he realizes that he doesn't have enough information so far to truly put together a list of top schools. With some summer and fall visits already in the works that problem should quickly remedy itself. "The schools that stand out to me are the ones that I really didn't see coming; like Oklahoma, Cal, Nebraska, and Washington," he said. "Those are the schools I didn't see coming on too hard but they just struck with offers and it was like 'wow'. Those are the ones that stand out because those weren't the ones I was expecting or thought might be coming a little later on. "You can't really determine what a school is like until you get on campus. I can say oh I like Cal because their jerseys and I like how they compete and then visit the campus and I might feel differently. "I love to evaluate everything and that's when I can come up with a top school based on actually the schools."
  17. Stanford is racking them in. First Cole Underwood and now Dallas Lloyd. Lets hope we get a different outcome when we go up against them in the future.
  18. Has a profile on O-D Top 100 with video and stats (video wasn't working for me).
  19. ESPN Evaluation This kid is a really impressive and intriguing prospect and at first glance it would be easy to assume he is your big, prototypical pocket passer. However, Robinson is anything but that. Yes, he has terrific size and bulk and still has more room to fill out his frame, but this is an athletic spread offense quarterback that is possesses a big arm and unique athleticism to improvise and create plays with his legs. This is a player at this stage that is at his best as a runner and supplements his creative style with just enough prowess and upside in the passing game to be a dangerous dual-threat. Is well versed in the zone read out of the shotgun. Is a tough, physical runner that not only possesses very good speed for the position given his size, but shows deceptive elusiveness and change-of-direction skills. He is capable of making you miss in the open field, but also running right through would be tacklers, lowering his shoulder and fighting for extra yards. He is a very competitive player that displays some playmaking ability and leadership. He is easy to be impressed with because he takes command of the offense and seems to want the ball in his hands in critical situations. As a passer, Robinson possesses quality arm strength and the size to see the field and develop as a passer from within the pocket. He seems most comfortable at this time working out of the shotgun, improvising and throwing when on the move. Rolls to his right and left and generates good power when he squares his shoulders and transfers his weight attacking his target. Also has enough zip and arm strength to throw when off balance as well as across his body when on the move and looking to create a second passing chance. However, Robinson due to being counted on to make plays with his legs probably has developed as a fast as a true passer and he could be a very good one in time. He must continue to work on developing timing and setting his feet consistently. Looks to run too early at times. Delivery mechanics can be a bit deliberate and he will cup the ball with his palm some and wind-up just a bit. Could stand to tighten up his delivery and become a more efficient player with his release. Robinson due to his size and style is a Tim Tebow-like prospect in terms of physical prowess and playmaking ability and has a high ceiling for development in our opinion.
  20. Agreed, 40 means nothing if you can't get past the person in front of you.
  21. Just curious if anyone if anyone has some ideas.
  22. What are they saying to these recruits? They are in the lead for Lache, Trovon Reed, Dyer, Lattimore, Eric Mack.... and the list goes on. Are they promising them a car? Does not make sense for a program that has been as down as they were in previous years and recruiting against Saban, Meyer, and everyone else is making this much headway? I'm not trying to hate but d*mn.
  23. FREE article on Rivals. Gators show interest in 4-star Ross Mark Wheeler GatorBait.net Related Links: Video of Ross in action Talk about it in Inside The Double T It has been several years since Florida has been seriously involved with a prospect from Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland. Actually, the year was 2005, Urban Meyer's first year in Gainesville, that the Gators were able to land a player from the powerhouse program. That year the Gators signed cornerback Avery Atkins and tight end Brian Ellis. After failing to qualify coming out of high school, Ellis never made it to Gainesville. On the other hand, Atkins went on to start at the University of Florida before being released from UF in the summer of 2006. Not long afterward, he met a tragic end due to a combination of ecstasy intoxication and carbon monoxide poisoning. Now, another Buccaneer is starting to make a name for himself. O.J. Ross is currently rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com. The No. 43 ranked wide receiver in the nation. Though Mainland has sent quite a few of its players to the next level over the years, including Antonio Bell (NEB), Cruz Barrett (NEB), Kirby Watson (MAR) and Tony Wilson (UGA), none of them have played to the level of Atkins. Ross hopes to break that streak, and with good reason. "Avery is my cousin," explained Ross. "He was a big role model for me. He still is my role model. I learned a lot about football and recruiting from him and I want to use what he taught me to help me be a good player to honor him. I look up to him." So far, so good. As a junior the 5-foot-10, 170-pound speedster led the area with 34 catches for 693 yards and 10 touchdowns while being named first team All-Area by the Daytona Beach News-Journal and honorable mention All-State in Class 5A. Despite what can only be described as an up-and-down stay in Gainesville by his late cousin, Ross still calls the Gators his favorite football team. "I'm a fan of Florida," said Ross. "That's always been my number-one team. I've always watched them. I've always followed them. I've been there." This past week, UF defensive coordinator Charlie Strong became one of the many college coaches to venture over to Florida's east coast this spring to check in on Ross. According to Ross, Kentucky, Texas Tech, Michigan, Arkansas, Duke, Tulane among others have joined the Gators on the Mainland campus. Though UF was the childhood favorite, they aren't currently leading the pack. "Florida's interested in me," proclaimed Ross, "but they haven't offered. I have offers from Texas Tech, Arkansas and Ole Miss this spring. My top three are Arkansas, Michigan and FIU. I like Arkansas, Michigan and Florida International. I've talked to the coach from Arkansas before, he's real cool. I like coach (Rod) Smith at Michigan. FIU is the local school. Close to home and a chance to play. If Florida offers I'm very interested in them." This summer Ross says that his plans are to camp at both Florida and Georgia.
